"La, la, la, laaaa, la. La, la, la, laaaa, la."
Great news for the sardonic, sarcastic, and rejected members of the Esteemers, because Mondo is releasing the first-ever, official, on-model figures based on the hit MTV show and cultural institution, "Daria." The adult animated sitcom created by Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis Lynn was famously a spin-off of Mike Judge's "Beavis and Butt-Head," with Tracy Grandstaff reprising her role as the intelligent, cynical Daria Morgendorffer as she navigates her new high school in Lawndale.
"Daria" was a satirical look at suburban America and the high school experience, with the titular character and best friend Jane Lane's borderline misanthropic criticisms doubling as the vocalized interior thoughts of Gen X and elder millennials as they came of age. While Beavis and Butt-Head were oblivious idiots whose existence provided a commentary on the way the world mistakenly viewed teenagers because they didn't understand them,...

Maurice Hines, the Broadway dancer, choreographer and actor who famously showcased his skills alongside his late younger brother, Gregory Hines, in a Nicholas Brothers-like act featured in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Cotton Club, has died. He was 80.
Hines died Friday of natural causes at the Actors Fund Home in Englewood, New Jersey, his cousin and rep, Richard Nurse, told The Hollywood Reporter. He lived there for a couple of years.
The elegant, Harlem-born Hines received a Tony Award nomination in 1986 for best actor in a musical for Uptown … It’s Hot and starred again on Broadway in 2006’s Hot Feet. He conceived, directed and choreographed both productions.
In his THR review of the 2019 documentary Maurice Hines: Bring Them Back, Frank Scheck wrote that the Hines brothers had a falling out and didn’t talk for 10 years “for reasons that Maurice refuses to discuss to this day. He provides no explanation in the film,...

Playing in front of sporting royalty can be a burden even for the best tennis players, but Iga Swiatek has learned to block out the additional pressure that comes with it.
With an introverted personality, the Pole was regularly a victim of circumstances whenever she was in a social setting. On a tennis court, there was no place to hide when the pressure and the occasion overwhelm you.
In the early part of her career, Swiatek's fragile mindset and approach prompted her to make critical decisions regarding her coaching team. As she began to rise through the ranks and sustain success on the Wta Tour, the need for a sports psychologist became an area of interest.
The 22-year-old has been working with sports psychologist Daria Abramowicz since 2019 with Swiatek crediting her countrywoman in her development as a player. In as much as tennis is a physical and technical sport , mastering...

Iga Swiatek never expected to win the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, and she didn't, but she probably did better than she thought she would.
The Polish player doesn't have a lot of experience when it comes to playing on grass, and it's by far the surface she struggled the most in the professionals on the Wta Tour. Interestingly a teenage Swiatek won the Wimbledon Juniors Championships, however, playing in the professionals sees her playing players with far more experience on the surface.
After crashing out against Elina Svitolina in the quarter-final , the Polish superstar reflected on her grass experience on Instagram talking about her Wimbledon and Bad Homburg runs. She was ultimately content with the progress made on the surface, which was her main goal for this year , getting better and improving.
It's been a while since I wrote more than few sentences here and maybe now it's a good opportunity to elaborate.

Iga Swiatek wasn't expected to make a deep run at Wimbledon , but she proved better than many thought, ultimately losing to Elina Svitolina.
It was a strange match for the Wta number one as she had control for a better part of it but ultimately lost . She was up for most of the opening set, losing focus at 5-4, which was the worst possible time. Svitolina broke back and then used the somewhat erratic play of her opponent to take away the opening set 7-5.
The second set saw Swiatek jump out to an early lead once more, and once again, she couldn't hold her nerve. She would win the set anyway in the tie-breaker after coming back from 2-4 down, and many thought that she would turn it around. The complete opposite happened as she completely lost her rhythm, slamming too many balls wide.

Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan has already hinted that Kelly Reilly’s polarizing Beth Dutton likely won’t cross over to the in-the-works Paramount+ offshoot of the hit drama that we all expect to star Matthew McConaughey. “My idea of a spinoff is the same as my idea of a prequel,” the EP told our sister site The Hollywood Reporter. “Read into that what you will.”
But even if Sheridan is ready and/or willing to let go of Beth, we’re not. So we’d green-light a new series that goes off to college with the firebrand, played in her teens by Kylie Rogers.

And then there were three. With only a few weeks until a winner is crowned, Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8 treated viewers to a feast of insult comedy, high-art clownery and, most importantly, loose slices of bologna.

On Militarie Gun’s debut LP, Life Under the Gun, frontman Ian Shelton isn’t afraid to turn his innermost fears and doubts into straight-up earworms. A long-time member of the hardcore scene — with his rusty nail of a band Regional Justice Center — the Seattle musician and his newest project have taken everything that’s uniquely cathartic about the genre and lacquered it with insanely catchy melodies, infinitely clever guitar riffs, and the kind of call-and-response energy that landed them a Taco Bell sync. That last detail might be enough...

Paramount Pictures has renewed a first-look deal with Todd Garner. The head of Broken Road Productions first signed a production pact with the studio in 2018.
Their only film since that time for Paramount has been “Playing With Fire,” a family-friendly Paramount Players release about a handful of macho firefighters having to look after two stranded kids amid a wildfire. The Jon Cena-led release earned $69.4 million worldwide on a $29 million budget. The company is in active development on a Rebel Wilson-starring tennis comedy titled “Double Fault.”
Among other recent projects not specifically with Paramount were New Line’s “Mortal Kombat” reboot and the direct-to-Hulu comedy “Vacation Friends,” both of which have spawned in-development sequels. Ganrer’s production track record goes back at least as far as Vin Diesel’s first “xXx” installment in the summer of 2022. That entry spawned an Ice Cube-led follow-up in 2005 and the 2017 global smash “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage...
