Mean Girls remains one of the most iconic teen movies, and that’s partly down to the all-around perfect casting choices that were made behind the scenes. Can you even imagine what it would have been like if the lineup of talent had been different!?
Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfied and Lacey Chabert grounded the movie as members of The Plastics – teen royalty of North Shore High School.
They were joined by other talented young actors such as Jonathan Bennett, Daniel Franzese and Lizzy Caplan alongside comedy legends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

The Broadway revival of Monty Python’s Spamalot will play its final performance on Sunday, April 7, completing a 24-week run at the St. James Theatre.
The production, which opened to favorable critical notices, failed to attract the strong audience figures that the original 2005 production drew. Last week, the production grossed just $589,970, with attendance at about 59% of the St. James’ capacity.
Sources tell Deadline that cost-cutting measures attempted in recent weeks have made little significant impact on the bottom line.
The revival opened on Thursday, November 16, 2023. A national tour is set to launch in fall of 2025.
“I am so proud of the entire cast, creative team, musicians and crew for their hard work and for delivering the highest level of joy and laughter back on Broadway when we need this more than ever,” said producer Jeffrey Finn. “I’m also honored to continue the long legacy of Kennedy Center productions transferring...

"It's October 3rd," answers Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) after her crush Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) asks her for the date. This beat is literally five seconds long and insignificant to an outside observer, but that's the whole joke. If you were ever a teenager in love, then you know what it's like to hyper-fixate on minor interactions like this the way that Cady does.
Like so many lines in "Mean Girls," October 3rd has resonance all its own thanks to the internet. People are always sure to share screenshots or clips of the scene on social media whenever it's, ya know, October 3rd. The date is even celebrated as "Mean Girls Day" by fans of the film. The "Mean Girls" stage musical opened ticket sales at the August Wilson Theatre on October 3, 2017.
There's another series out there, also with a devoted fanbase, where October 3rd is a special day — "Fullmetal Alchemist,...

Mean Girls remains one of the most iconic teen movies, and that’s partly down to its perfect cast. Can you even imagine what it would have been like if the lineup of talent had been different?
Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfied and Lacey Chabert grounded the cast as the members of The Plastics – teen royalty of North Shore High School.
They were joined in the movie by other talented young actors such as Jonathan Bennett, Daniel Franzese and Lizzy Caplan alongside comedy legends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
In 2023, the cast is forever associated with the characters that they played in the movie. However, Mean Girls almost looked very different.
For starters, the three of The Plastics auditioned for other parts in the movie before they were finally cast. Several other actresses were also in the running for parts, and an A-list actor up to play Jonathan‘s character Aaron Samuels.

On Wednesdays, we get nostalgic. That’s right, Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert are all reprising their roles from the iconic 2004 comedy Mean Girls in a Black Friday commercial for the retail giant, and honestly? It’s pretty fetch.
In addition to hyping up Walmart’s deals, the ad also reveals where the characters have ended up since graduating North Shore High two decades ago: Cady (Lohan) is now the school guidance counselor, Karen (Seyfried) is a local news reporter and Gretchen (Chabert) has evolved into her final form — a “cool mom.”

The original Plastics have returned, and yes, Gretchen Wieners is still trying – and failing – to make “fetch” happen. But this time, the Northshore High crew is together for Walmart’s Black Friday deals.
After photos leaked online of Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert reunited in pink, many speculated that it might be for Paramount’s upcoming “Mean Girls” movie musical. But it was revealed on Wednesday morning that the ladies, along with more of their original “Mean Girls” costars, reunited for a new commercial.
“At North Shore, some things never change,” Lindsay Lohan’s voiceover says, as a new generation of girls strut in. “On Wednesdays, we still wear pink.”
As it turns out, those new mean girls are Gretchen Wieners’ daughter and her friends, as Gretchen herself (Chabert) pulls up and tells her to “Get in sweetie, we’re going deal shopping!”

Mean Girls is getting the movie musical treatment!
The original hit movie, which starred Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, Jonathan Bennett and more, debuted in theaters in 2004 and was later turned into a Broadway musical, which debuted in 2018.
Tina Fey wrote both the movie and the book for the Broadway musical, and now, she’s adapted it into a movie version of the musical, with music by her husband Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin.
Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne are directing, with choreography by Kyle Hanagami.
Here is the synopsis: “Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George.

One-off ’Mean Girls Day’ event comes three months ahead of release of new theatrical film.
In a bid to drive engagement with younger audiences, Paramount chopped up its 2004 high school comedy Mean Girls into 23 segments and dropped the film on TikTok for free on Tuesday.
The move, believed to be the first time a major Hollywood studio has put an entire film on the social platform, was a promotional tactic to raise awareness among Gen Z and younger Millennial viewers ahead of the January 2024 theatrical release of a new iteration of the cult film.

Today is October 3. And while that might just seem like a mundane date to the average person, it's a celebratory day for fans of the high school comedy "Mean Girls." It's the day hottie Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) asks new student Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) what day it is. As Cady says in voiceover, "On October third, he asked me what day it was." And then we watch that moment play out. It's such a simple moment in the movie, but "Mean Girls" fans have latched on to it, and they honor it every fall. But they'll have something more to celebrate in 2024.
Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of "Mean Girls." That's right, it's been 20 years since the girls went wild and North Shore High School was upended by the infamous Burn Book created by The Plastics. Though the movie won't actually celebrate its proper anniversary until the...

Nearly 20 years after its release, Mean Girls remains a classic teen movie that viewers continue to reference. It’s just that fetch!
The movie’s hold on us hasn’t loosened an ounce, but it’s particularly strong on October 3 (affectionally referred to as Mean Girls Day by fans in the know) every year.
Named such as it’s the day when Lindsay Lohan‘s character Cady told Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) the date in the movie, it’s a time when fans are feeling particularly nostalgic.
As we celebrate this year, you might be pulling out your trusty DVD for a rewatch (or simply pulling up TikTok). It’s also a time when you might be asking yourself questions about the talented cast.
Aside from an iconic script, the cast was also a very grool group made of rising stars and established talent.

The Burn Book is going digital, via TikTok. Paramount Pictures has launched an official TikTok “Mean Girls” page in honor of “Mean Girls” Day (October 3), in which the entire 2004 movie can be viewed in snippets — all 97 minutes, free for TikTokers, in 23 clips total.
The launch is likely to drum up excitement for Paramount’s “Mean Girls” movie musical set for theatrical release early next year and to tap into a new generation of fans. But it’s also clearly a test to see where audiences are headed. Lead actress Reneé Rapp, who originated the Regina George musical character on Broadway and plays her in the new film, currently has 1.5 million TikTok followers.
“Get in loser, we’re watching the full ‘Mean Girls,'” the official TikTok page reads.

Hallmark has revealed that it will have 40 all-new, original movies for both its flagship channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, as well as special content for Hallmark Movies Now, the company’s subscription streaming service.
Even though the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes impacted TV and film productions, Hallmark anticipated the labor dispute by getting a head start on production in Canada. “Christmas is a year-round business at Hallmark, so we were able to mitigate early in the year understanding that the strikes were unfortunately imminent,” Lisa Hamilton Daly, EVP of programming at Hallmark Media, was recently quoted as saying. “We’re grateful to meet all our goals for a full, all-new holiday slate and to bring our viewers the content they love most to celebrate the season.”
