Characters are more often associated with their iconographies, which provide them with an enduring legacy through the ages. When readers think of Sherlock Holmes, the pipe and the iconic hat immediately come to mind; the bat insignia is a cue to Gotham’s caped crusader; and similarly, the mention of Godzilla always evokes the mental image of the atomic monster unleashing its fierce, nuclear-powered breath—akin to the fire-breathing dragons of ancient mythology.
Atomic Breath has been an integral part of the big G’s identity since the character’s first appearance and has been showcased in almost all of Toho Studio’s 30+ cinematic ventures involving Godzilla. Irrespective of the tone and treatment of the movie, whether it’s the campy fun of the Showa era or the grounded, dark approach of the present Reiwa era, makers have always made sure that each version of Godzilla asserts their individuality through their respective atomic breath.

For a full decade now, Warner Bros. and Legendary have been bringing Godzilla and many other classic monsters to the big screen via the MonsterVerse. Beginning with 2014's "Godzilla," this universe has brought Toho's beloved creations — as well as some brand new beasts — to audiences around the world. In stark contrast to 1998's "Godzilla," these Hollywood-produced takes on the long-running franchise have worked like gangbusters as blockbuster crowdpleasers. Five movies (and a TV show) later, the MonsterVerse is showing no signs of slowing down.
While other cinematic universes have come and gone over the years, largely because they bit off more than they could chew, the MonsterVerse has succeeded by being patient and letting audiences be hungry for more. Most recently, "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" proved that moviegoers were happy to show up for a big, ridiculous ride just months after the very serious, Oscar-winning "Godzilla Minus One" left theaters.

After the positive box-office response Adam Wingard’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire got, the director is cooking up some more to add to the adventure for a possible sequel story. After helming the 2021 blockbuster Godzilla vs. Kong, Wingard said that he knew he would come back to the franchise for more. The New Empire, though did not fare favorably among critics, is currently the fifth-highest-grossing movie of 2024, having a $436 million worldwide collection so far.

The biggest question among fans now is who would be the scary monster that Kong goes up against in the next movie. After battling and defeating Mechagodzilla in Godzilla vs. Kong, the duo goes up against Scar King in the most recent MonsterVerse movie. But with the news of a possible sequel on the horizon, fans are bound to speculate and theorize about what comes next.

With Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire ruling the world, thanks to a huge $194 million box office weekend, the MonsterVerse has never been so mighty. As speculation for a third Godzilla-versus-Kong movie is underway, it is time to talk about the best parts of the kaiju-centered universe: the monster battles.
While Kong had a share of bare-knuckle brawls, Godzilla faced numerous foes, with most of them nearly outmatching the fearsome lizard. It only begs the question: if they can beat Godzilla, can they also beat Kong? Here are five of Godzilla’s enemies that can defeat Kong in a battle:
1. King Ghidorah

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” is full of surprises. But there’s one very big cameo that has been withheld from marketing materials so far that really needs to be discussed.
But in order to do that, we’ve got to talk about the ending of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” If you haven’t seen the movie – or if you don’t want to be totally ruined when you do – turn back now.
Consider this your last spoiler warning.
Still there? Ok, let’s get into it.

Adam Wingard's new film "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" has, tonally speaking, strayed far from Gareth Edwards' 2014 MonsterVerse kickoff film "Godzilla." Edwards' film was somber and sad, featuring very little "fun" monster destruction. As the MonserVerse series has progressed, however, it has crept inexorably toward a sillier tone before striking it rich with Wingard's 2021 entry "Godzilla vs. Kong." That film featured a battle between the titular titans, but also a cameo from Mechagodzilla, a monstrous robot extrapolated from the skull of the dead King Ghidorah. "GvK" also featured a fleet of human-built UFOs and a magical portal that led into the Hollow Earth, an unusual underground realm ruled by monsters.
The Hollow Earth idea is straight out of Jules Verne, but the mayhem-forward approach to a Godzilla movie comes from several of Toho's films released in the 1970s. Indeed, many critics and pundits have been comparing "GxK" to the series' Shōwa era,...

Godzilla has defeated giant spiders, giant lobsters, giant robots, giant dinosaurs, giant space dragons, giant plant monsters, giant beetles, and of course, giant monkeys. But recently, the King of the Monsters conquered a foe that many thought him incapable of taking on: the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
With “Godzilla Minus One,” Toho’s iconic kaiju (or giant monster) franchise “Godzilla” earned its first Academy Award, receiving the Oscar for Best Visual Effects after wowing audiences with its impressive CGI re-creation of cinema’s most iconic movie monster. It became the first Japanese production to win the award, bookending a successful season for the film, which broke through in America in a major way. After years of the franchise’s Japanese films reaching relatively niche U.S. audiences, “Godzilla Minus One” grossed $110 million worldwide and attracted critical acclaim, bringing the franchise new fans and newfound recognition.

Everyone has their cinematic blind spot — that genre or subgenre that, try as you might, you just can't seem to connect with the way others do. For me, that blind spot is kaiju movies. Despite being surrounded by friends who love films in the "Godzilla" and "Pacific Rim" franchises, I've yet to find a monster movie that clicked.
So with "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" about to hit theaters, I thought I'd try a backdoor approach to the genre. Would playing a game like Prospero Hall's "Godzilla: Tokyo Clash" help me form a connection to the "Godzilla" franchise? Could I finally warm up to rubber suits if I'm the one doing the smashing? Well, after a heated session with a few of my closest friends, I'm pleased to report that "Godzilla: Tokyo Clash" might be the first thing in the "Godzilla" franchise that I genuinely enjoy.

When Godzilla gets mad, he yells at stuff. Dude loves to roar. When he's not stomping on cities, smashing King Ghidorah in the face(s), or hibernating in the Pacific, everyone's favorite nuclear gorilla-whale is sounding his barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world. The accepted spelling of Godzilla's roar is "Skreeonk," a word often seen in Godzilla comics. Since the monster's inception in 1954, Godzilla has more or less retained the same roar, with the sound only undergoing remixes and aural sweetening as sound technology evolved. The Godzilla roar from 2023's "Godzilla Minus One" is not terribly far afield from the Godzilla roar heard in Ishiro Honda's "Gojira." Enterprising Godzilla fans have compiled the various Godzilla roars into tidy video montages. It's a high-pitched wail undergirded by an animalistic growl. It is distinctly Godzilla.

Robert Zemeckis' blockbuster "Back to the Future Part II" was released in November 1989, and it expanded on the lore from the first. In the 1984 original, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) went back in time to the 1950s when his parents were teenagers ... and not terribly interested in each other. To ensure he gets born, Marty has to arrange circumstances so that his mom and dad start dating. In "Part II," Marty is enlisted by Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) to travel to the far-flung future of 2015 to make sure that his kids stay out of legal trouble; this will be easy to do, as Marty's son (also Fox) happens to look just like him.
And, no, hoverboards aren't real. That was a rumor Zemeckis started himself.

Roland Emmerich's 1998 film "Godzilla" remains of the most widely seen in the Godzilla film series, and also remains one of the most broadly reviled. "Godzilla" is an unapologetically stupid film that has more in common with chintzy Irwin Allen disaster movies from the 1970s than it does with anything Godzilla-related. The film's ubiquitous ad campaign famously touted that "Size Does Matter," a churlish claim, given that the monster in the movie was smaller than any of the Godzillas seen to date. Indeed, the giant iguana-resembling reptile was small enough that it could slip into the subways of New York City and remain hidden for an entire day.
Emmerich's "Godzilla" was initially planned as the first of three Godzilla movies to be made by TriStar pictures, and the studio was willing to spend a lot to make the first entry in their borrowed franchise (borrowed from Toho). The budget...

We're in the midst of a Godzilla renaissance. The big guy stole the show in 2023 with the critically acclaimed "Godzilla: Minus One," then appeared on the Apple+ TV series "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters," and battles King Kong once more on the big screen in Adam Wingard's "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire." We haven't even mentioned Netflix's "Godzilla" animated series or the slew of unique takes on the character released over the last decade, including the terrifying "Shin Godzilla." It's a great time to be a Gojira fan!
Of course, Godzilla enjoys the moniker "King of the Monsters" and with good reason: he's hard to stop. Since his debut in 1954, our hulking, spiky-tailed, nuclear pal has bought the farm only four times and typically wins his epic confrontations with other Kaiju. That's not to say he doesn't lose a fight, but more often than not, Godzilla runs slowly walks home with the trophy,...

For a Godzilla franchise that has basically established itself as a modernized, Americanized version of Toho Studio’s iconic Kaiju movies, Legendary’s Monsterverse is surprisingly inventive when it comes to the creation of gigantic monstrosities. Aside from the four primary iconic monsters of Godzilla lore, namely Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah, and Mechagodzilla, a major chunk of Monsterverse creatures are original additions. In addition to enriching the established Godzilla mythos, the monsters of Legendary’s shared universe, known as ‘Titans’, stand out on their own thanks to their cool, creative designs, which are a perfect amalgamation of natural world inspirations and inventive visual traits.
Legendary’s latest small-screen venture, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, has swung surprisingly hard, both narrative-wise and using a substantial budget to offer a monster spectacle of cinematic quality. “King of the Monsters—Savior of Our City?” This is what a news channel chyron at the end of 2014’s Godzilla asks. The question appears on a television set in a San Francisco stadium that has been converted into a Fema camp for survivors of Godzilla’s attack on the Bay Area, which climaxed with a battle between the Big G and two Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms (MUTOs). The scale of suffering caused by these creatures, and the shrieks of terror the survivors let out when they see Godzilla rise after defeating the MUTOs and walk to the sea, tell us that the answer is “no.”
To anyone wondering who, then, is the savior of the city, the same scene provides an answer. In a sequence that mirrors countless feel-good videos shared on social media, we follow protagonist Lt. Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in his tattered fatigues as he carries...

Legendary’s MonsterVerse Godzilla TV series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is set to premiere on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday, November 17, followed by one episode every Friday through January 12. (You can read our own Alex Maidy’s review of the first batch of episodes Here.) In anticipation of the show’s premiere, we’re taking a look back at several of Godzilla’s previous adventures to see how they stack up against each other. For the sake of keeping it as lean as possible, we’re focusing on his earliest days, going all the way back to the original Showa era, consisting of his very first outing in 1954, his first clashes with the likes of Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah and his cyborg counterpart, Mechagodzilla, before concluding its run in 1975. To add more familiarity to the pot, we’re also including his string of American blockbusters, from...

U.S. audiences tend to accept Toho's earlier Godzilla movies as being high camp, usually thanks to Gen-x's half-remembered airings of late-'60s kaiju flicks broadcast on Uhf TV channels back in the 1980s. While there are some absurd and terrible Godzilla films from the Showa era (1954-1975), and many of them contained surreal, kitschy plot elements like invading aliens, one might also find several movies -- "Gojira," "Destroy All Monsters" -- that focus on Japanese national pride, the role of destructive weapons in the world, and a barely-simmering resentment lingering after a massive attack on the country. If modern superhero movies sprung from the U.S. subconscious as a fantastical revenge/preventative measure against 9/11, so too did Godzilla spring fully formed from the trauma left behind by the U.S.' atomic bomb attacks.

Japan’s most iconic giant monster is set for a big screen return in Takashi Yamazaki’s upcoming film “Godzilla Minus One.” Until that day, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the long-lasting legacy of “Godzilla.” Originally conceived as a metaphor for the horrors of nuclear warfare, the kaiju has seen its fair share of unique variations. Yet, the beauty of why this character remains solidified in cinema history is for the ideas that come with its creation and existence, along with many unique interpretations. Like many movie series, the franchise’s quality frequently fluctuates, yet plenty of these movies are good, some even fantastic. Here is an exploration of the King of the Monsters’ finest hits throughout the years.

Dragons are a part of nearly every major culture. While some of us seem to think that this means they were once real creatures that terrorized our ancestors, it’s more likely that there’s something inherently and universally fascinating about reptilian monsters hovering above humankind on the food chain.
That’s why it makes sense that there are so many unique dragons in media, both friendly and demonic. However, some of these fire-breathing creatures are more monstrous than others, and that’s why we’ve decided to compile a list of six of the scariest dragons in film, as we horror hounds tend to prefer fantasy stories with a hint of darkness.
To be included on this list, dragons need to stand out in either their villainous behavior or nightmarish design, but they don’t necessarily have to appear in a traditionally scary movie. And for the purposes of this article,...

Between October 6, 1997 and September 30, 1998, 256 episodes of Godzilla Island, a TV series spin-off from the Godzilla film franchise, aired on TV Tokyo in Japan. Twenty-five years later, Godzilla Island is finally getting an official international release, complete with English subtitles… and it’s being released through YouTube! An episode of Godzilla Island will be released on the Godzilla Official by Toho YouTube channel every Tuesday and Thursday.
If you’re a Godzilla fan who hasn’t heard much, if anything, about Godzilla Island, it’s understandable. Each episode of the show is only 3 minutes long, and the kaiju featured on the show weren’t brought to life through “suitmation” like in the Toho movies. Instead, the monsters are portrayed with toys created by Bandai. Mystery Science Theater 3000 goes with Thanksgiving Day like turkey goes with gravy. The show made its debut on Thanksgiving back in 1988 and there have been many, many Turkey Day marathons throughout the years, no matter if the show itself was active or not. Usually, MST3K Turkey Day meant getting to see six beloved episodes in a row over the course of the day. If you were lucky, there would be news about the next time we would see the show make a comeback.
Turkey Day 2022 is a different feathered beast. Right now, MST3K is in the tail end of its thirteenth season. Twelve of the thirteen episodes have aired so far (one of which is in 3D!), while we’re just weeks away from Christmas Dragon.

The “Godzilla” franchise is one of the most successful long-running film series out there. The iconic monster has gone down in cinema history as a metaphor for the horrors of nuclear warfare. However, the truth is that the quality of the franchise varies. The original “Godzilla,” directed by Ishiro Honda, is a brilliant piece of sci-fi filmmaking, and Hideaki Anno’s witty gem “Shin Godzilla” is a superbly written political thriller. Yet, features like “Destroy All Monsters” and the later Heisei entries of the 1990s show the unfortunate trend of repeated formulas that quickly becomes old and shoddy filmmaking that is a chore to watch. Not to mention, all of the American “Godzilla” projects have been misfires. Following the underwhelming finale feature “Godzilla vs. Destoroyah” and the poor 1998 American reboot, Toho would kickstart the experimental Millennium series. Things would start solid with “Godzilla 2000: Millennium” but lose momentum with “Godzilla vs.

While it does feel as though some folks might not want to take the time to reopen the Monsterverse for a character that’s already been killed off, there are plenty who would be interested in seeing a movie or even a series of King Ghidorah since to be fair, there’s no telling what is really left of this creature since at the end of King of the Monsters one of his heads had been retrieved. Plus, his influence was driving MechaGodzilla in Godzilla vs. Kong, and while the giant robot was destroyed, there’s no telling what was done with the

Asking why Kong had to leave Skull Island might bring up a few different answers, but the comic book version of Kong could possibly offer one explanation that people might like. For one, we already knew that a tropical storm had decimated Skull Island and killed the natives, and might have killed Kong if not for Monarch’s ability to step in and create a habitat for the big ape that kept him secure from the tempest. But it’s revealed that the storm is a parting gift from King Ghidorah and thanks to a vortex that is present on the island

I suppose the question had to come up at some time since there are plenty of people that have been theorizing over who would be the victor between Godzilla and Kong. It’s fair to say that Kong took Godzilla longer to beat than other opponents, apart from King Ghidorah, but he did go down. He didn’t bow though, let’s just remember that. But now we get to talk about another contest, foul as it sounds since someone, who knows who decided to direct their attention away from the strengths and natural weapons that both titans have, and decided to focus

The following article contains Godzilla vs. Kong spoilers.
The future of the MonsterVerse is uncertain. If you had any doubt, just look at the lack of a post-credits scene in the latest installment, Godzilla vs. Kong. While Kong: Skull Island teased the coming storm of King Ghidorah and other kaiju, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters ended its actual credits sequence with the big ape waiting in the wings, there is a sense of closing out a chapter (if not the book) in the MonsterVerse’s Godzilla vs. Kong.
This is in large part because it is up in the air how Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures will proceed with Toho Co. Ltd., the creators and owners of Godzilla and his assorted monster friends. Under the previous contract, which concluded with this year’s monster mash-up, Toho was unable to produce any live-action Japanese Godzilla movies until after 2020, leaving room...

this article contains spoilers for godzilla vs. kong.
It may not have quite the cache or iconic status of Mothra or King Ghidorah, but Mechagodzilla has managed to become a consistent element in the Godzilla movie universe for years. And now the metallic wonder makes its Hollywood debut (not counting Ready Player One) in director Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong, the fourth film in the modern MonsterVerse that kicked off in 2014 with Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla.
Ever since making its first appearance in 1974’s Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, the gigantic robotic reptile has stuck around as a relatively constant thorn in the side of his flesh-and-blood counterpart. If Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra are the Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman to Godzilla’s Batman, then Mechagodzilla hovers near the top of the second tier of rogues, the equivalent to a Two-Face or Mr. Freeze.

It’s the championship bout that we’ve all been waiting for…and apparently it’s happened before.
No, we’re not talking about 1962’s Toho classic King Kong vs. Godzilla, which brought the big ape from Skull Island and the nuclear-powered dinosaur from the Sea of Japan into conflict for the first time onscreen. But as we find out in the first trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong — the fourth entry in the modern-day series of films known as the “Monsterverse” — these two gigantic icons of monster mythology have possibly met before…in the distant past.
“The myths are real,” says Rebecca Hall, one of the stars of the new movie. “There was a war, and they’re the last ones standing.”
Maybe not the last ones, but surely the most powerful ones. When we last saw Godzilla in 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, he had defeated the three-headed...

Official plot details for Godzilla vs. Kong are still incredibly hard to come by unless you’ve been keeping track of the tie-in merchandise, which is where the big reveals seem to be coming from. Having been pushed back yet again, director Adam Wingard will be hoping that the latest installment in the MonsterVerse will live up to the hype when it finally arrives on its fifth and hopefully final release date next May.
That being said, the filmmaker could probably do with the extra post-production time given that extensive reshoots were ordered by the studio following a test screening that reportedly didn’t go down too well, although the most recent showing seems to indicate that Godzilla vs. Kong has been massively improved by the additional footage.

There are some interesting theories leading into the Kong vs. Godzilla fight that’s still planning on hitting theaters eventually and some of them make a lot of sense considering that in the past Kong and Godzilla have fought, but in the present it almost feels as though there might need to be a bit if intervention to make such a thing happen. For one, Godzilla and the other titans are seen as being represented throughout this entire buildup, but Kong is more or less confined to Skull Island, and has never left. If there’s going to be a fight, it’s

After quickly establishing itself as a billion dollar brand thanks to Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island, Legendary’s MonsterVerse stumbled with King of the Monsters after the movie suffered greatly diminished returns from both critics and at the box office, and now the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong is under increased pressure with the future of the entire franchise potentially hanging in the balance.
Matters weren’t helped when an early test screening didn’t go down well with the studio, leading to a series of extensive reshoots and an eight-month delay to November, although that actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise given that the entire industry was brought to a halt in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

If 2014’s Godzilla movie was forced to scale back on the Kaiju – thanks in large part to licensing issues – then its blockbuster sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, dialed things up to 11.
From Mothra to Rodan to the three-headed King Ghidorah, Mike Dougherty’s MonsterVerse follow-up truly took things to another level, resulting in some of the best live-action Kaiju cinematics we’ve seen in a very long time. Gojira’s decimation of Ghidorah is a particular highlight, not least because it features Big G at his thermonuclear best. And woe to any Kaiju that dares stand in his way.
Had things panned out differently, though, Dougherty’s King of the Monsters would’ve introduced an unlikely ally to Godzilla and Mothra. And we’ll give you a clue: it’s a volcanic Pterodactyl.

Out of all the cinematic universes that sprang up in the wake of Marvel’s unprecedented success, Legendary’s MonsterVerse seemed to be faring better than much of the competition. The franchise was retroactively created following Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla in 2014, with Kong: Skull Island’s status as a prequel allowing the story to fit some of the narrative building blocks in place in order to eventually build to super-sized smackdown Godzilla vs. Kong.
The first two installments yielded virtually identical critical and commercial results, with both sitting on a 75% Rotten Tomatoes score and a rating of 62 on Metacritic, although Skull Island’s $566.7m box office haul was marginally higher than Godzilla’s $525m. However, the most recent entry, Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, slowed the MonsterVerse’s momentum somewhat after earning tepid reviews and failing to crack $400m globally.

We’ve got a fun behind-the-scenes video to share with you from Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It focuses on what went into bringing King Ghidorah to life. Director Michael Dougherty reveals that they actually used motion capture actors to bring the three-headed monster to life.
In the video, you’ll see the three actors playing Ghidorah in their motion-capture suits, and you can’t help but laugh. It’s pretty amusing to watch as the three performers were tied together in the process. The actors were used to make sure that each head of the monster its own unique movement and personality.

In a world where super-hero films rule the box office, you need something big and spectacular to attract attention. Legendary Pictures, which has cofinanced its share of heroic fare, has licensed the biggest monsters around: Godzilla and King Kong. They have dubbed it the Monsterverse and in Godzilla (2014) and King Kong: Skull Island (2017), they have sewn the seeds for these titans to mix it up for the first time in decades.
This summer’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters expanded that universe by giving us plenty of kaiju, introducing modern day audiences to Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. They are large and loud and ready to do battle with one another, sweeping mankind out of their way as mere impediments. It also sets up next spring’s Godzilla vs. Kong.

If 2014’s Godzilla movie was decidedly lacking in iconic beasts – save for Big G himself – then its gargantuan sequel, King of the Monsters, brought out the Toho heavyweights.
From Rodan to Mothra, Scylla to Ghidorah, Legendary and writer-director Mike Dougherty left no stone unturned when resurrecting some of Godzilla’s most famous enemies (and allies) for the big screen. As a matter of fact, the final tally stands at 17 – 17 titans! – all of which brought something a little different to Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
But let’s say Dougherty is presented with the opportunity to return to Legendary’s MonsterVerse sometime beyond 2020 – and, by effect, beyond the release of Godzilla Vs. Kong – which Kaiju would he like to take off the bench? That very question was posed to the filmmaker just recently on Twitter, where one user asked straight-up: “which unknown kaiju would you bring to life if you had...

Godzilla: King of the Monsters might not have been a critical and commercial success on the same level as its 2014 predecessor, but the movie nonetheless delivered enough city-leveling destruction to send the fans home happy, with the latest entry in Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse earning over $385 million at the box office, bringing the franchise’s total haul up to almost $1.5 billion with Godzilla vs. Kong scheduled to hit theaters next March.
Director Michael Dougherty is clearly a massive fan of the title character, and King of the Monsters is packed full of references to the extended Godzilla mythology, as well as heavily featuring classic Toho creations Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidora. Curious as to how Ghidorah became frozen prior to Godzilla: King of the Monsters? Allow director Mike Dougherty to explain.
Just before the sequel’s digital debut, Dougherty answered a number of fan questions on Twitter, one of which queried Ghidorah’s history, and how the three-headed behemoth became frozen in the first place. Turns out the alien dragon actually clashed with Godzilla in the past, as depicted by those cave paintings and ancient scriptures. And it was Gojira who emerged victorious, earning him the title, ‘King of the Monsters.’
Mike Dougherty essentially confirmed as much over on Twitter, stating: “Ghidorah and Godzilla fought for the crown in ancient Antarctica. Godzilla won.”
