Hatis Noit is a Japanese vocal performer from distant Shiretoko in Hokkaido who now resides in London. Her accomplished range is astonishingly self-taught, inspired by Gagaku - Japanese classical music - and operatic styles, Bulgarian and Gregorian chanting, to avant-garde and pop vocalists.
Her transcendent vocal interpretations deconstruct and recombine Western Classical, Japanese folk and nature's own ambient atmosphere. Hatis Noit's bespoke compositional work ranges from automotive films to forward-thinking art installations, and most recently a live, improvised performance at Milan Fashion Week.
In 2018 Erased Tapes released her first enigmatic EP, Illogical Dance, an arresting 4-track record featuring a remix by Björk-collaborators Matmos. Hatis is currently working on her next innovative album.
