The Rules Of The Game (Criterion) Jean Renoir’s classic from 1939 was met with a riot at its premiere and was severely cut by its distributor, available only in truncated form for two decades until it was restored to the grandeur for which it is celebrated today. A biting comedy of manners set in the upstairs and downstairs of a French country estate, the film bitterly vivisects the bourgeoisie with a gentle ferocity that will tickle the laughter in your throat. Renoir co-stars as Octave. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Introduction to the film by Renoir; Commentary written by scholar Alexander Sesonske and read by Peter Bogdanovich; Comparison of the film’s two endings; Selected scene analysis by Renoir scholar Chris Faulkner; Featurettes and vintage film clips; Part one of David Thomson’s “Jean Renoir” BBC documentary; Video essay; Interviews with Renoir, crew members,...

Pablo Francisco has an unrivalled vocal talent when it comes to sound effects and impersonations. Put him alone in a room and he could be a one-man sound effects studio, a Foley artist of great skill. He can replicate the sounds of a techno club on a Saturday night just as easily as he can pretend to be Gary Busey ordering a sandwich in Subway. After spending the ‘90s on “MADtv” and touring as one of the “Three Amigos” with Carlos Mencia and Freddy Soto, he has become a very successful solo touring comedian, relying mostly on his ability to replicate nearly any sound or voice you can think of in order to poke fun at people and pop culture.

If by “awesome” you mean, “Whoa, is this some kind of parody of Hollywood movie trailers?” While watching the trailer for Corey Haim’s “American Sunset”, some kind of crime thriller about a kidnapped wife and a mysterious kidnapper, I kept having flashbacks to comedian Pablo Francisco, who features the “voice of the movie trailer guy” in his act. (Check out the comparisons below). Honestly, this trailer is cut almost exactly as if it was a parody, complete with ridiculous lines from Haim in-between the overly earnest movie trailer guy’s voiceover. “American Sunset” is a story about love and sacrifice. It’s an edge-of-your-seat shocking thriller about how one ordinary man traveled to hell and back to save his wife. A shocking thriller, with a Usual Suspects–style twist, “American Sunset” will have both moviegoers and crime solvers alike anxiously waiting for clues to this mystery’s riddle; each...

Levity Entertainment Group, the American comedy management/production company, and Pias Entertainment Group, the Belgium-based distribution/recording company, are joining forces to promote and market comedians in Europe, Australia and North America.
Levity will license 10 one-hour stand-up comedy shows to Pias, including Jim Breuer's "Let's Clear the Air," Pete Correale's "The Things We Do for Love" and Gabriel Iglesias' "Hot & Fluffy." Levity will work with Pias to distribute the programming across Europe, South Africa and Australia in 2009-10 via multiple platforms, including TV, mobile, broadband and DVD.
The companies also will co-produce one-hour specials focusing on international artists and a global sales and marketing strategy. They will announce a roster of new artist signings after the Edinburgh Festival.
Levity's proprietary E-Comic Branding digital comedy marketing service will be among the tools used promote the comedians.
"In a digital world, comedy translates very easily," said Robert Hartmann, principal, Levity Entertainment Group.
