Lionsgate will handle U.S. distribution of eagerly awaited “Greenland” sequel “Greenland: Migration,” Variety can confirm.
STX, which has a distribution partnership with Lionsgate, is handling international distribution.
Directed by Ric Roman Waugh from a screenplay by Chris Sparling and Mitchell Lafortune, “Greenland: Migration” sees Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin return as John and Allison Garrity. Along with their diabetic son Nathan, the couple were forced to flee in the first film as a comet hurtled towards earth, threatening to destroy the planet. In the sequel the family embark on a perilous journey across what’s left of Europe to find a new home.
Butler and Baccarin are joined by Roman Griffin Davis (“Jojo Rabbit”), Amber Rose Revah (“The Punisher”) and Trond Fausa (“Oppenheimer”) in the film, which is produced by Anton, STX Entertainment, Thunder Road Pictures and Butler’s G-base Entertainment.

At the Met Gala on Monday night, Baz Luhrmann teased that he may not be quite done with Elvis Presley-related projects, following his 2022 Austin Butler-starring film.
The director told The Hollywood Reporter, “The fans really want to know if all that footage we found in the vaults is going to become a concert film and I’m here to say I think it’s gonna happen.” In October, Luhrmann had posted on Instagram that “we’ve found reels and reels of never-before-seen footage of Elvis on Tour and That’s The Way It Is,” telling fans to “stay tuned.” An accompanying video showed a cardboard box with a Warner Bros. label and “Elvis outtakes box” written on the side.
That’s The Way It Is was a documentary following Elvis Presley’s Summer Festival in Las Vegas during August 1970 (released alongside his 12th album of the same name) and...

I’ve predicted Megalopolis, anticipated as it is, will have a clear dividing point: the cultural commentariat hoping to see “another film by the director of The Godfather” and those who appreciate “something that looks and sounds like a Star Wars prequel.” I am very firmly in the latter, was duly excited by the first image, and can only be pleased with the time-stopping debut teaser, arriving today via Le Pacte.
It comes with a sad addenedum. Coppola, sharing the teaser on Instagram, noted:
Megalopolis has always been a film dedicated to my dear wife Eleanor. I really had hoped to celebrate her birthday together this May 4th. But sadly that was not to be, so let me share with everyone a gift on her behalf.
As Coppola recently told Vanity Fair, “I wouldn’t have been able to make it without standing as I do on the shoulders of G.B. Shaw,...

Two of the more anticipated star turns on Broadway this season — Steve Carell making his debut in the Lincoln Center Theater revival of Uncle Vanya and The Sopranos alum Michael Imperioli returning to the New York stage in Circle in the Square’s An Enemy of the People — got no love from Tony Award nominators today, and the West End hit Patriots, written by The Crown‘s Peter Morgan, barely registered on the roster, with only one nom for lead actor Michael Stuhlbarg.
Even more empty-handed than Patriots was The Wiz, the cheery, if rote, revival of the beloved Black retelling of The Wizard of Oz. Despite a star turn by Wayne Brady, it’s possible that Tony nominators saw the Broadway revival for the uninspired road show it is.
Other shows with zero nominations included I Need That starring Danny DeVito, the Barry Manilow-Bruce Sussman musical Harmony,...

David Adjmi’s new play “Stereophonic” makes Tony Awards history with 13 nominations. This bests by one the previous record-holder “Slave Play” by Jeremy O. Harris, which earned 12 bids back in 2020. Its haul includes recognition for Best Play, Best Director (Daniel Aukin), five nominations for its performers and, rare for a dramatic work, Best Original Score for Will Butler and Best Orchestrations for Butler and Justin Craig.

After altering his voice to play the king of rock and roll in "Elvis," Austin Butler made a dramatic shift by portraying the heartless Harkonnen warrior Feyd-Rautha in "Dune: Part Two." It's a choice that worked out well, as even though the star's latest performance also came with an on-screen voice that demands further examination, Butler proved he was just as adept at playing cruel and cunning as he was at transforming into iconic musical figures of the 20th century.
The nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Feyd-Rautha was a big part of Frank Herbert's 1965 novel on which the "Dune" films are based. In the book, protagonist Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet in the modern films) returns to the capital of Arrakis and faces off against Feyd-Rautha in a final battle — one which was brought to life for the big screen by director Denis Villeneuve and his production team for "Dune: Part Two.

No matter what you think of the Killing Eve finale, you can't deny that the thriller show is a true gem of the crime genre, and Jodie Comer's character Villanelle definitely played a large role in its success.
Villanelle was unpredictable, dangerous, charismatic and even mesmerizing in the mix of her villainous nature and seemingly "fun" personality. Killing Eve has been over for two years, and now that it landed on Netflix, it may be painful to dive back into the show's universe only to know that it's finished.
Well, Jodie Comer will soon return to our screens in yet another crime drama, so the Killing-Eve-shaped hole in your heart may be filled — even though her role is drastically different this time.

Young comic book fans might not realize the significance of the bloody battles and high drama shown in Frank Miller’s graphic novel, but watching Zack Snyder’s timeless epic 300 will never disappoint. But tracing back to Snyder’s 2006 landmark drama that broke new ground at the time of its release, the director revealed how he was initially rejected.
Hollywood filmmaker Zack Snyder (image credit: Wikimedia Commons)
Reminiscing the work that went into 300, Zack Snyder recalled convincing Warner Bros. to greenlight the project after long-drawn hesitation. Using clever tricks to persuade WB, Snyder’s methods eventually made their way into Gerard Butler’s movie and turned it into a classic.
Warner Bros. Was Initially Hesitant to Greenlight 300
It’s been more than a decade since Zack Snyder released Gerard Butler’s 300 in 2006. Yet, the movie somehow feels iconic and timeless, which later shaped the cinematic landscape following its release.

Overcommitted "Method" acting doesn't have to be a lifelong choice — just ask Austin Butler. The actor who famously gained an accent he had trouble losing to play Elvis Presley in "Elvis" can now be seen in theaters in a totally different role in "Dune: Part Two," and he says he tried to keep some work-life balance this time around.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Butler was asked if he chooses to stay in a "dark place" even after the cameras stop rolling to play a dark character. In "Dune: Part Two," the actor donned a bald cap and a serious scowl to play Feyd-Rautha, the ambitious Siridar-Baron who challenged Timothee Chalamet's Paul Atreides to a duel in the new film. It would've been tough to keep the mindset of Feyd-Rautha going 24/7 even if Butler had chosen to, but he told the LA Times he made the...

Black Butler , created by Yana Toboso, is a dark, supernatural story full of twists, turns and one hell of a butler . Black Butler centers on Ciel Phantomhive and his quest for revenge after surviving the tragic murder of his family. With the dashing and demonic butler, Sebastian Michaelis, now in his service, the series manages to be humorous and devastating at the same time. The anime adaptation of the manga started back in 2008 and had multiple seasons, several OVAs and a theatrical movie. While the manga continued, the anime didn't have another release since that movie in 2017 ( Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic ). The film’s digital release was on the 15th April, which is nice if you like downloading things – it saves shelf space and all that – but for those of us who like discs and boxes and that pleasant sound when a DVD or Blu-ray player drawer closes, it’ll be well worth waiting for a few more weeks.

Even though it’s only the start of April, it’s already been one hell of a year for Austin Butler. The Elvis actor started 2024 by taking to the skies in Apple TV+’s wartime drama Masters Of The Air, before blowing everyone away in Dune: Part Two with his transformative take on the fearsome Feyd-Rautha. His stellar run is set to continue later in the year with The Bikeriders – the long-awaited motorcycle club drama from acclaimed filmmaker Jeff Nichols, based on photojournalist Danny Lyon’s 1968 tome documenting biker gang the Outlaws. It’s a film set to send Butler into Easy Rider mode.
As Nichols tells Empire, he was the perfect pick to portray the enigmatic Benny. “The minute I was shaking his hand, I just was like, ‘Wow, this is a good-looking guy,’” the director says of his first meeting with the star. “But he’s so disarming...

Gerard Butler has had a varied career so far, with him playing everything from action leads to rom-com love interests to a singing Phantom of the Opera. But, it has to be said that his most consistently entertaining output falls squarely into the action genre, and as far as Gerard Butler movies go, the action films will always be our favorites… so don’t expect to see The Ugly Truth on this list, but The Bounty Hunter might scrape by. Or maybe not. Let’s see how it goes:
300 (2006)
Perhaps The film that put Gerard Butler on the map for most people, particularly the action and comic book crowds. Butler is in peek physical form here, showing off his bod as the ultimate Spartan warrior and proving that he is indeed quite the leading man. His performance here is commanding, a bit in your face (in the right way), and exactly what the film needed.

Although acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky stated that he would be directing an Elon Musk biopic at A24, this is not going to be his next movie, if reports are true. Namely, recent news suggests that Aronofsky is actually working on a crime thriller based on a book by Charlie Huston. The movie’s title is probably going to be Caught Stealing and as Empire confirms, the movie will star Oscar-nominee Austin Butler in the main role of Hank Thompson.
While speaking to Deadline, Aronofsky said the following about his upcoming project:
“I am excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life. I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of NYC filmmakers.”

Austin Butler's career is certainly on fire at the moment, between his scene-stealing role in Dune: Part Two and his small screen work on Masters Of The Air. So naturally, he's in demand. The actor has now landed another plum role, starring in Darren Aronofsky's next film, Caught Stealing.
The Whale's director has author Charlie Huston adapting his own novel, which follows Hank Thompson (Butler), a burned-out former baseball player whose neighbor lands him with a cat and a whole world of trouble. He's soon deep within the New York crime scene, running for his life and trying to figure out what he's truly gotten himself into.

Elvis and Dune: Part Two actor Austin Butler is to star in Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller, Caught Stealing.
Austin Butler has developed a taste for working with directors of a certain merit, and you can’t argue with the results. Since 2019, Butler has acted in films by Jim Jarmusch, Quentin Tarantino, Baz Luhrman (in his breakout role as Elvis Presley) and Dennis Villeneuve. The latter saw him take the role of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in the recently-released Dune: Part Two, and there’s no arguing that he was able to take a relatively limited amount of screen time and produce an antagonist who will live long in the memory.
Next, Butler has The Bikeriders coming up, directed by Jeff Nichols. Then there’s Eddington with Ari Aster, not to mention those rumours regarding a role in Michael Mann’s upcoming sequel to Heat. It’s an impressive list and yet,...

Austin Butler is continuing his auteur collaborations, this time partnering up with Darren Aronofsky.
Butler, who was Oscar-nominated for his breakout transformative “Elvis” role, is set to lead Aronofsky’s upcoming feature “Caught Stealing.” Novelist Charlie Huston will adapt his own work for the screen. Protozoa is producing the Sony crime thriller. The novel is the first installment of Huston’s Henry Thompson trilogy series.
“Caught Stealing” was originally set for an adaptation in 2013 with Patrick Wilson cast in the lead role, now occupied by Butler. The story follows Hank Thompson, a former high school baseball prospect turned alcoholic bartender who gets caught up in a treasure hunt through New York City. A sadistic police officer tries to outrun Thompson, hitmen, and mobsters to find the treasure. Alec Baldwin was cast as the cop in the 2013 iteration that was slated to be written by David Hayter and directed by Wayne Kramer.

Austin Butler may not be confirmed to be co-starring in Michael Mann’s Heat 2, but the Masters of the Air actor has now been reported to be set to be the lead in Caught Stealing. Coming off his creepy villain turn in Dune: Part Two, Austin Butler is lining up a new feature.
Butler will star in the crime thriller Caught Stealing, which hails from filmmaker Darren Aronofsky. Sony has acquired the package, which is based on the book by Charlie Huston, and per the logline, it “follows Hank Thompson, a burned-out former baseball player, as he’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ‘90s NYC.”

Butler rose to new levels of critical acclaim with 2022’s Elvis, the Baz Luhrmann biopic that earned Butler his first Oscar nomination. In Dune: Part Two, Butler earned a strong reaction for his work as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the psychotic villain who goes toe-to-toe with Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. Coming up, he has 1960s motorcycle drama The Bikeriders out in June.

Shabazz Palaces’s aptly titled Exotic Birds of Prey opens with a guarantee to spin “the latest in eclectic music.” Depending on your appetite for adventure, that will come off as a promise or a threat. Like last year’s Robed in Rareness, the album feels at times designed to weed out casual listeners, with Shabazz Palaces mastermind Ishmael Butler making no effort to sweeten his brash experimentalism with memorable hooks or conventional song structures.
Exotic Birds of Prey maintains an unsettling vibe as it wanders through hip-hop subgenres and warps them into abstractions of themselves. “Exotic Bop,” for one, feels chaotic and claustrophobic, with cavernous synths blurring the edges around guest Purple Tape Nate’s monotonously simple vocal melody. The glitched-out “Goat Me” similarly features reverb-drenched interjections from Cobra Coli buried beneath a spacious cloud-rap beat.

The Apple TV+ limited series “Masters of the Air” is not exactly lacking in big-name star power. The World War II-era drama is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, the powerhouse team behind two previous Emmy-winning series about America’s greatest generation: 2001’s “Band of Brothers” and 2010’s “The Pacific.” And headlining the cast is Austin Butler, fresh off his Oscar-nominated star turn in “Elvis.”
