The chants and shouts of pro-Palestinian demonstrators disrupted the entry to the Washington Hilton for this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, but once inside, attendees were greeted with what has become the usual scene: Celebrities on the red carpet, a crush for the security line and glitterati packed into a cavernous ballroom.
“I want to thank my wife for enduring lots of jokes and for agreeing to individually meet everyone in this room right after the ceremony,” the evening’s featured entertainer, Colin Jost, quipped about Scarlett Johansson, who posed for photos with a non-stop stream of attendees. She continued to do so later in the evening, at the Comcast-nbcu after party at the French ambassador’s residence.

As this year’s president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, NBC News senior White House Kelly O’Donnell will preside over one of the biggest evenings in D.C. — a mix of politicos, media types and celebrities airing live across C-span and other networks.
But the issues that a Whca president routinely deals with range from the weighty, like pushing for media access to the president and promoting the role of journalists in a free society; to the less earth-shaking but still important, like coping with plumbing issues in the tight confines of the press area of the West Wing.

NBC News’ Washington bureau announced a series of staff changes as Pete Williams departs next week as justice correspondent.
Williams, who has been covering the Justice Department and Supreme Court, announced in May that he would retire after almost 30 years at the network. His last day will be July 31.
Ken Dilanian will be promoted to justice and intelligence correspondent. He’s been with the network for six years and has broken stories on topics including the Trump-Ukraine impeachment hearings, and recently did an investigation of how the FBI missed warning signs of a school shooting.
Kelly O’Donnell, senior White House correspondent, will add to her duties coverage of the Supreme Court on an interim basis until a full-time correspondent is hired. She has been covering Washington since the Clinton administration. In 2016, she was the first to report that Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump to concede the presidential race.

Dame Judi Dizzle?
Oscar-winning actress Judi Dench can now add rapping to her list of career accomplishments, after sitting down with London-based Mc Lethal Bizzle for some lessons — and eventually a duet.
During the session, which was captured on video and shared by LADBible, Bizzle helps the 82-year-old actress learn some of the words to his songs “Celebrate” and “Pow.” After going over the lyrics together, Dench shared the mic with Bizzle, rapping along with him to the beat.

After fighting a bitter and often personal battle during last year’s bruising presidential election, Hillary Clinton arrived for Donald Trump‘s swearing-in ceremony in Washington, D.C. Friday alongside her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and their daughter, Chelsea Clinton.
“This is not an easy day for anyone that supported her or believes in progressive values, let alone her,” a longtime aide tells People. “But she did it, because she’s Hillary Clinton, and she’s there for all the right reasons, honoring democracy, and representing the values she ran on.”

Donald Trump won't be attending D.C.'s "Nerd Prom" on April 30 - but it's not because he wasn't invited. "I was asked by every single group of media available to mankind [to attend this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner]," the Gop front-runner tells The Hill. "But I've decided not to go. Do you know why? I would have a good time and the press would say I look like I wasn't having a good time." Trump attended last year's dinner, before he announced his presidential bid, as well as the 2011 dinner, where President Obama famously roasted the billionaire businessman in a comedy routine. Trump says that, despite reports to the contrary,...

As usual, the star on the Republican side of the House chamber during the State of the Union address was not President Barack Obama. But tonight the star was an actual celebrity. Duck Dynasty's Willie Robertson was in attendance as the special guest of Louisiana Rep. Vance McAllister—and he was the toast of the bipartisan ball! As NBC political correspondent Kelly O'Donnell noted on the air, the evening had "a real celebrity feeling" about it thanks the presence of the reality-tv personality, as "pop culture and political life collide." The whole family received a vote of support last year from their home state of Louisiana when Duck Dynasty's future at...
