Exclusive: Girls and Get Out star Allison Williams is to star in and exec produce a U.S. remake of Canadian comedy drama Being Erica.
Williams has teamed up with Boat Rocker Studios, which recently rebranded its Platform One Media division, and Sex and the City writers Elisa Zuritsky & Julie Rottenberg to develop the remake.
Zuritsky and Rottenberg will act as showrunners and exec producers and write the pilot while Naima Ramos-Chapman (Random Acts of Flyness) will direct and exec produce. Jason Weinberg will also executive produce.
It is a loose adaptation of the show, which was produced by Boat Rocker’s Temple Street Productions. The remake tells the story of two women — strangers with seemingly nothing in common — seeking the help of an eccentric therapist who enables them to travel back in time to revisit their biggest regrets. Along the way, they’re shocked to discover their lives are inextricably intertwined.

CBS is developing an updated version of Love, American Style. The light-hearted anthology series originally aired on ABC for 108 episodes, from 1969 until 1974.
According to Deadline, the remake won't follow that format however. A new script from Jana Sinyor and Aaron Martin follows four different couples who are connected through their complicated relationships. The network has yet to order a pilot.
If it does end up being made, this won't be the first remake. In 1985, ABC aired a daytime version called New Love, American Style. It lasted a few months before being cancelled.
In 1998, ABC developed a new pilot starring Melissa Joan Hart. It didn't become a series but the network aired it in February 1999.

A remake of the 1960s-70s series "Love, American Style" is in the works at CBS -- although "remake" might not be the right term to apply here.
According to Deadline, the new show would drop the anthology format that was "Love, American Style's" signature when it ran on ABC from 1969-74. The show had a semi-regular cast of performers, but it mostly relied on guest stars to tell a series of brief stories about love each week. The new version would focus on four couples who represent some of "the many stages of love."
"Being Erica" creator Jana Sinyor and Aaron Martin ("The Best Years") are collaborating on the pilot script. (Both writers, somewhat ironically, are Canadian; they worked together on "Erica" and "Degrassi: The Next Generation.") They'll also executive produce along with Kim and Eric Tannenbaum ("Two and a Half Men").

Cue those patriotic trumpets! CBS is developing an update of Love, American Style, the anthology series that originally aired as part of ABC’s Friday night lineup in the ’70s.
Deadline reports that the project will veer away from the show’s original format, which worked from 1969 to 1974. Instead, the new script from Jana Sinyor (Being Erica) and Aaron Martin (The Best Years) will follow four different couples who are connected through their complicated relationships. This is only a script deal; the network still has to order it to pilot before even considering it for its fall 2014 lineup. There have...

Exclusive: CBS has put in development Love, American Style, a contemporary version of the 1970s comedy anthology series. The new version, from CBS TV Studios and the Tannenbaum Co, is not keeping the anthology format of the original, which has proven hard to sustain these days as evidenced by such recent efforts as NBC’s Love Bites. CBS’ Love, American Style – written by Canadian scribes Jana Sinyor, creator of Being Erica, and Aaron Martin, creator of The Best Years — follows the lives of four couples who are connected through the many stages of love and their complicated relationships. Sinyor and Martin executive produce with Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Madhouse Entertainment’s Robyn Meisinger and Adam Kolbrenner. The original series, produced by Paramount TV, ran on ABC for five seasons and has enjoyed a healthy off-network syndication afterlife as a daytime staple. Being Erica: Season One
Stars: Erin Karpluk, Michael Riley, Tyron Leitso, Vinessa Antoine | Created by Jana Sinyor
Back in high school, Erica thought she’d grow up, meet ‘the’ guy, get ‘the’ career, have a couple of beautiful, talented children and ride off into the sunset. But somehow, it never happened. After a series of mishaps, Erica meets the mysterious Dr Tom – a therapist who seems to know a lot about her. Dr Tom gives her the chance of a lifetime…In each episode, Erica goes back to relive a regret from her past, in order to come back and make a positive change in her present…
This Canadian drama looks, on the surface, to be another Sex and the City type drama, with a good looking cast and a hip soundtrack that follows the fortunes of a neurotic thirty-something woman as she struggles with problems in her life.

According to the online magazine TV.com, the hit Canadian TV series Being Erica will be remade in Great Britain.
First of all, the British remake will be titled You Again. Like in the original series, the leading character, a 30-year-old woman, will travel back through time to fix her regrets. However, we should rather expect to see a leading character who lives in Glasgow and is an NHS worker.
As for the creative team, the lead writer will be Nicole Taylor (Ashes to Ashes and Secret Diary of a Call Girl). Of course, Being Erica's creators - Jana Sinyor and Aaron Martin - will have their hands in You Again as consultants.
Finally, the British had the occasion to see Being Erica's first season on E4, a British digital channel. In Canada, Being Erica will return for a third season.

Although CBC, a Canadian public TV network, hasn't formally made an announcement, The Cultural Post has a strong proof that the TV series Being Erica got renewed for a third season. Therefore, this is not an attempt to spread a rumour on the net.
First of all, according to the Ontario Media Development Corporation (Omdc), the third season of this show created by Jana Sinyor will be in production from May 17 to October 15.
Moreover, since there's no formal announcement of CBC that The Cultural Post can speak of, this also means that there are no details about the third season's story. Nonetheless, if any of you don't know what Being Erica is all about, here's a description of the synopsis.
Erica Strange (Erin Karpluk) is a woman of 32 years old. Since the events of the first season, she has been in relation with Ethan Wakefield (Tyron Leitso), a school teacher.

First of all, I'd like to thank my fellow countryman Mike for finding this news story. Yesterday was a big day for Erin Karpluk. Not only was it the premiere of Being Erica's second season on SoapNet, but she also gave an interview on The View, a talk-show hosted by Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd.
