Criminal Minds‘ Dr. Spencer Reid has recently been subject to “a lifetime’s worth of trauma,” it is noted in this exclusive sneak peek from tonight’s episode (CBS, 10/9c). So will he ever be mentally fit to return to full duty?

“Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” star Daniel Henney will join the cast of the flagship drama following the spinoff’s cancellation last month. Henney will reprise his role as Special Agent Matt Simmons, which he played for two seasons on “Beyond Borders.” Formerly with the International Response Team, Special Agent Simmons joins the Behavioral Analysis Unit, including helping with the release of Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) when he was arrested in Mexico last season. Henney steps in for series regular Damon Gupton, who announced his departure from the CBS drama after one season last week. Earlier in the season,...

Criminal Minds season 12 was a tough year for Dr. Spencer Reid. He took a bit of time off to help his mother and even brought her home to live with him, at which point he had to balance that with work. He did what he felt he had to do to help Diana and ended up in prison after being framed for murder.
He had to do things he wouldn't have thought of doing before to stay alive while behind bars. And he learned that the one behind his suffering wasn't Mr. Scratch, as they all assumed, but Cat Adams, working from her own prison with someone he only briefly encountered years ago.

Of all the characters to have filtered through Bau, Dr. Spencer Reid heading into a prison cell is the most likely.
Perhaps that's what makes this exclusive look at Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 15 so effective.
As Reid filters into his new "home" with all the other convicted and potentially guilty or innocent men he'll be spending his foreseeable future with, it hits home how easily anybody can find themselves in that situation.
Memory loss, an unbelievable tale of innocence or the lack of any other potential suspects could all be viable reasons you become the target of an intensive investigation.
Would your background be squeaky clean enough to keep you out of the hot seat?
I would have thought Reid's, if anybody's, would have given him a get out of jail free pass.
On "Alpha Male," he'll find himself in new and unsteady surroundings trying to survive.

Dr. Spencer Reid found himself caught up in a huge mess in Criminal Minds' 13th episode, "Spencer." The first scene was a high-speed car chase involving the Mexican authorities, what turned out to be Dr. Reid, and an unknown person in a beat-up old truck. Spencer is now neck-deep in a drug and murder investigation that originated in Mexico.

The difficult year of Dr. Spencer Reid continues.
Poor Reid. Just being a dutiful son eventually lands him in a Mexican jail on Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 13.
In jail in a foreign country where he doesn't speak the language without his most lethal weapon: his beautiful mind, as Garcia puts it.
Apparently, the unsub behind this frame-up knows Reid well, enough to know what he's doing.
The Bau team members naturally assume that Peter Lewis, Mr. Scratch, is behind this. Why? Because he's this season's boogeyman.
Good a guess as any, since nothing was proved in this draggy first part of a two-parter spotlighting Reid.
The why for Reid's trip is simple: to find a holistic treatment for his mother that might slow her Alzheimer's.
So that's where that swamp water he's been giving his mom came from.
What's not so simple is why he shut out his teammates from his plans.

Playing on the public's fear that 'this could actually happen', Doomwatch had a veneer of credibility unusual in the escapist television drama landscape of the late 60s/early 70s. This spring sees the most comprehensive haul of Doomwatch episodes released on DVD for the first time. The nickname for the "Department for the Observation and Measurement of Scientific Work", the series first appeared on BBC1 on Monday 9th February 1970 at 9.40pm. It followed half an hour of comedy from Kenneth Williams, which must have surely heightened its dramatic impact.
The series would run in tandem with the early Jon Pertwee era of Doctor Who; the first episode made its debut two days after part two of Doctor Who And The Silurians. The two shows undoubtedly shared a synergy of ideas - not to mention cast and crew.

Oh, it is so good to have Dr. Spencer Reid back on Criminal Minds in the season's best episode so far, "Entropy." (I know it's only been a few episodes, but still.) And he takes center stage as the Bau, following up on the breakthrough they had in the winter finale, puts a plan in motion to take down the Dirty Dozen hitmen ring.
Seemingly beginning as an online date, what unfolds is a deadly battle of wits, a game of cat and mouse the likes of which you could only see on a show like this, between a profiler and their prey. Aubrey Plaza guest stars as Cat, Reid's date, and it's because she and Matthew Gray Gubler play so well off one another that it works quite well.

Matthew Gray Gubler knows every new season of "Criminal Minds" means more than an acting job for him.
The CBS show's Dr. Spencer Reid also has gotten to direct at least one episode -- and usually two -- for the past several years. His latest turn for dual duty comes Wednesday (Nov. 6) with "Gatekeeper," as the Behavioral Analysis Unit searches for a new Boston strangler who takes a memento from each victim.
"This is my sixth time," the friendly Gubler tells Zap2it of directing the series. "It's what brought me to Los Angeles originally, and what I went to school for, so it's great to have the opportunity to do it on the show that I'm on.
"I think my first ones were well-received, so I've been very fortunate they've asked me to do two for the past couple of years. To keep on getting asked to do it is a real honor.

Matthew Gray Gubler knows "Criminal Minds" typically is spooky enough on a weekly basis as is.
The night before Halloween, though, the long-running CBS crime drama can be counted upon to be seasonally eerie. "In the Blood," Wednesday's (Oct. 30) new episode, takes Dr. Spencer Reid (Gubler) and his Behavioral Analysis Unit colleagues to Utah, where several murders appear to be patterned on the Salem Witch Trials -- encompassing victims being burned at the stake.
"I love it," the friendly Gubler tells Zap2it about the story. "One of our favorite directors, Michael Lange, directed it. It's a fun, visually interesting episode. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm pretty sure we do amp it up. It's about an interesting point in the history of America, too."
Costumes are involved for the main cast members as well, since the tale also involves tech expert Garcia (Kirsten Vangness) staging a Day of the Dead...

Watching Diane Kruger dive head-first into the awkward, by-the-books Texas detective she portrays on FX’s The Bridge on Wednesday night, I suspected I was witnessing the last of a kind. For reasons I’ll explain shortly, we have entered the post-Asperger’s era of television, and the intense Sonya Cross may well be the final character with that condition who'll get grandfathered into the new age. Because Asperger’s, a developmental disorder that falls on the autism spectum, came out on television quietly, it’s hard to say for certain when the condition made its prime-time debut. But I do know when I first took notice of a character with the disorder: in December 2005, when Boston Legal introduced us to Jerry Espenson, the quirky, socially awkward attorney played by Christian Clemenson. Many viewers noted that, as depictions of what it's like to live with Asperger's, Jerry and the brilliant...

Just how momentous of an episode is tonight’s instalment of Criminal Minds for star Matthew Gray Gubler? I can’t imagine the higher ups at CBS had to twist Matthew Gray Gubler’s arm too much to convince him to sign a new deal that will guarantee his presence on Criminal Minds for another two years. The youngish actor has been on the series since its inception and has loved basically every minute of it. Gubler was even been quoted as saying he “couldn’t imagine not coming back,” and that the cast and crew of Criminal Minds were like his family. It certainly seems like Gubler has a sense of loyalty, which is good to have, but we’ll see if he’s still feeling the same when the time comes to renew his contract again.

Exclusive: Dr. Reid is staying put. I’ve learned that original Criminal Minds cast member Matthew Gray Gubler has signed a new two-year deal to remain on the CBS crime procedural. I hear his salary has been bumped to just north of $100,000 per episode. Along with co-star Paget Brewster, who opted to leave the ABC Studios/CBS Studios-produced series in May, Gubler was the only core cast member whose contract was up at the end of this past season. Coincidentally, Gubler directed Brewster’s original exit episode last spring before the actress returned to the series for one more season. It was one of three Criminal Minds episodes Gubler has helmed. On the series, which returns for an eighth season this fall, Gubler plays Behavioral Analysis Unit member Dr. Spencer Reid, a prodigy with an Iq of 187 and an eidetic memory who graduated high school at age 12 and holds multiple Ph.

New year, new episodes of Criminal Minds. Finally! Welcome back, Bau lovers, and welcome back to Hotch and the gang.
They say good things come to those who wait, and anyone who watched "True Genius" would likely agree. After five long weeks without any Un-Subs to profile or cases to crack, the folks at CBS delivered what I'd consider to be a pretty entertaining episode to kick off 2012. With copycat killers, an infamous case revisited and numerous chess references, there wasn't a dull moment for the team.
First things first: Reid was especially brilliant this week. His constant deciphering of codes was impressive even by Reid standards, and when the Un-Sub directly challenged him, I was positively gleeful in anticipation. Even though the killer was himself a genius, nobody better step to Dr. Spencer Reid unless you plan to come correct - he's just one step ahead of the game.

Launching a new police procedural is tricky. On one hand, you have to stand out from all the competition – especially visually. At the same time, you have to be familiar enough not to alienate viewers. You have to be old, but in a new way.
Unforgettable has an interesting twist on the Sherlock Holmes formula that it is able to express in a visual way,...

Who you gonna call?
Maybe Bill Murray, maybe not.
Bloody Disgusting report that Dan Aykroyd, the man so awesome he’s had a band named in his honour (Dananananaykroyd), has said that Ghostbusters III will be going into production in early 2012, with or without Bill Murray.
His hope is of course that Murray will be joining him for the project, which is expected to see Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, and hopefully Murray re-teaming with director Ivan Reitman for the first Ghostbusters film since 1989.
A third film has been a possibility for more than a decade, and it seems that Murray’s dislike for sequels has meant that his cooperation with the project has stalled a number of times over the years. As such, Aykroyd seems to be sending out a pretty clear message now that whether Murray’s on board or not, the film is going to be going ahead as of spring 2012.

It's safe to say that no one was happy when "Criminal Minds" bosses announced that series vet Paget Brewster's episode order would be significantly reduced in Season 6. Fans raged, and even Brewster herself was quite vocal about her displeasure with the decision.
Still, when push came to shove, she had one final request as a series regular cast member: she wanted co-star Matthew Gray Gubler to direct her exit episode.
It marks the second time Gubler has directed an episode of the series, and he tells Zap2it that when Brewster asked him to give it another go for her, it was not only an honor, but a bit of a relief. "The first time I directed the show there was a bit of a fear involved," he admits. "I'd spent the majority of my life focused on directing. I went to school to learn how to direct, and...

Rachel Nichols knows she's in a tough spot replacing A.J. Cook.
The new Criminal Minds cast member, who debuts tonight, says the situation is reflected by the other characters, who will speak to what the audience may be feeling.
"I knew that Jj had left and there was a lot of uproar. People were wondering, who is this new girl?" she told TV Guide. "What they wanted to do was introduce this character and have people like her because you can't have people angry and hate her right off the bat."
"There are some scenes in the first episode where [the characters] kind of talk about it, and they're definitely a little wary of her. But it was all intended to be a very warm welcome for this girl who was going to be here a short period of time."
Aside from the Bau, the viewers will get to make up their own minds tonight,...
