Sting announced today that proceeds from his recently re-recorded 1985 song “Russians” will benefit Ukrainian humanitarian and medical aid.
Written at the height of the Cold War, Sting’s anti-war lament “Russians” includes the memorable refrain “Believe me when I say to you/I hope the Russians love their children too.” Earlier this month, Sting performed a stripped-down take of the song – “Russians (Guitar/Cello Version)” – on his Instagram page.
“I’ve only rarely sung this song in the many years since it was written,” he wrote on the March 5 post (see it below), “because I never thought it would be relevant again. But, in the light of one man’s bloody and woefully misguided decision to invade a peaceful, unthreatening neighbor, the song is, once again, a plea for our common humanity. Sting will release a new album, The Bridge, on November 19th via A&m/Interscope/Cherrytree Records. The musician has previewed the release with a breezy, upbeat new single, “If It’s Love.”
“I’m certainly not the first songwriter to equate falling in or out of love with an incurable sickness, nor will I be the last,” Sting said in a statement. “’’f It’s Love’ is my addition to that canon where the tropes of metaphorical symptoms, diagnosis, and downright incapacity are all familiar enough to make each of us smile ruefully.

Shaggy has dropped a new animated lyric video for the updated version of his classic track, “It Wasn’t Me.”
Directed by Jay Will, the “It Wasn’t Me (Hot Shot 2020)” video offers a lively and fun retelling of the song’s infidelity narrative, from the moment the narrator gets caught red-handed to the remorseful realization that the advice he’d been receiving — deny, deny, deny — may not have actually been so sound.

The last time Sting appeared in a major car commercial, for Jaguar, he scored his biggest U.S. hit in six years with “Desert Rose,” which reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2000 and marked a milestone in world music crossovers, featuring guest vocals sung in Algerian Arabic from singer Cheb Mami.
Nearly 20 years later, the singer’s latest carmaker collab has an equally global scope. Sting appears alongside reggae superstar Shaggy in a new European commercial for the 2019 Fiat 500, part of the Italian auto brand’s 120 the anniversary campaign. The campaign stars Sting & Shaggy in a surreal performance of their single “Just One Lifetime,” featured on the singers’ collaborative album “44/876,” which took home the award for Best Reggae Album at February’s Grammy awards.
And much in the same way that Sting’s Jaguar commercial originated from a last-minute product integration into the music video for “Desert Rose,...

Eclectic country/rock/Tejano group the Last Bandoleros have released a new song titled “Enamorado” — Spanish for “in love” — timed, not coincidentally, for Valentine’s Day.
The track, sung in both English and Spanish, features bassist Diego Navaira on lead, guitarist Jerry Fuentes on the bridge and the entire group, rounded out by drummer Emilio Navaira and guitarist Derek James, on the chorus. It’s the benefit of having four lead singers, a lineup that helps distinguish the Last Bandoleros as not just a rock band, but a vocal group as well.

"I don't think too far ahead because I want to appreciate what's happening now," Ware told Billboard. "It doesn't feel like work. It feels like a real adventure." The label is planning to take a slow-burn approach with Ware, which proved successful for her Cherrytree labelmates and fellow Brits Ellie Goulding and La Roux. Cherrytree boss Martin Kierszenbaum said: "My goals for Jessie are absolute nationwide domination, (more)...

Tamar Kaprelian has a classic story of being discovered more or less at random. At the age of 15, she was approached by a talent scout when singing with a school group at a local mall. The fairy tale story was not meant to be her destiny though. She parted ways with her label but when she was on her own, she was discovered more or less off the street again and later caught the attention of Ryan Tedder through her YouTube video.
She was signed to Interscope and released her debut album "Sinner or a Saint", filled with catchy pop songs, across the United States on August 24. In an exclusive interview with AceShowbiz, the 24-year-old singer/songwriter recalled the story of her dream-comes-true and also explained more about the effort and its songwriting process. She also shared about her experience of doing shows with Far East Movement and who else she wants to work with.

It's "Love Shack" all over again. Twenty years after the B-52's went cruising down an Atlanta highway in search of that infamous little love getaway, the party anthem of the late 1980s is back, thanks to house legend Roger Sanchez. It has a fresh new twist and features a little group you might know called Far East Movement. MTV News caught up with Sanchez recently for an exclusive chat about the project.

Imagine, for a second, that Lady Gaga didn't dress like a member of wrestling team Demolition, pose for fashion spreads wearing nothing but the rings of Saturn around her head or give interviews dressed in the carcasses of Kermit the Frog. Imagine if she didn't speak her mind, delight in tweaking the media or treat her fame as one gigantic, Warholian art project. In other words, imagine if she were just another boring, bottle-blond, midriff-bearing pop star.
I know all that is pretty difficult to consider — without any of the flair or the insanity or the nudity, Gaga just wouldn't be Gaga — but if you somehow managed to strip away all the ephemera, what would you have left? Would Gaga still be interesting?...

He continued, "The results were downright enthralling and I can't wait for everybody to hear the new music that will be coming out before the end of the year."
