Never did interviews. Whenever a reporter would contact him about doing an interview, Davis would reply that "all the answers to your questions can be found in my music.".
1977's album, Singer of Songs - Teller of Tales featured the ballad "I

eight months after its release. Its continuing appeal helped keep it in
the Top 100 for 40 more weeks.
Following a brief romantic relationship, country music artist Charly McClain had a song, "Best That Never Was", specially written and dedicated to Davis on her 1983 album "Paradise".
When he wrote the song "I Go Crazy" he planned to give it to Lou Rawls to record. His record label boss nixed that. Years later Rawls recorded the song and also charted with it, this time in 1980.
