Jim Nixon was born James Ralph Nixon, II to father James Ralph Nixon, a U.S. Army soldier, and Dorothy E. Nixon (nee' Ott), homemaker, on June 23, 1967 at the 97th U. S. Army General hospital in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, West Germany. They all returned to the United states in 1969 and the plane had to make a crash landing because the landing gear would not deploy. Jim joined the Army himself some years later and served for 6 years before being Honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. After which he entered the field of Healthcare IT.
Around 2010 Jim started to endeavor in the film and music scenes having moved to Nashville, TN. He would attend conventions and special events catered to actors and musicians and managed to make several good friends in each industry. His first notice was at a concert in Nashville in 2012 that included the Nashville Heavy Metal band Voodoo Prophet. This was before they had actual photographers swarming around the stage at every show. Jim snapped a few good pictures and posted them online and tagged the band. The founder and guitarist for that band contacted him directly having like the pictures. He ended up using one of Jim's pictures of him in his promos and even a magazine cover for a while after that. Eventually becoming friends with the band they invited him to play the main villain in the video for their new single "Drowning in the Flood." The video was completed but never officially released, though it can be found on YouTube.
Jim had appeared in several videos after that in audience and crowd scenes, to Include a DVD release for "Here Come the Mummies" filmed in Nashville, Sammy Hagar's "Better Red Than Dead" movie release of his 70th Birthday Bash in Cabo San Lucas, and the scrapped AC/DC DVD release for their "Play Ball" video filmed at Wrigley field in Chicago.
Several friends and contacts that Jim met that were independent filmmakers had invited him to get involved in movie shorts and even feature releases that they were working on. Some of these projects could already be found on crowd funding sites, others were direct invitation to interested parties only. After having been involved in a few projects at this point several filmmakers reach out directly whenever they have a new project.
Jim is also an accomplished author, having several articles and 8 poems published in an anthology series in the early 2000s. He is currently working on 3 novels, both fiction and non-fiction, though is on a hiatus from those at the time of this article.
