We have some sad news to report as we head into the weekend: Rosemary’s Baby star Mia Farrow has confirmed that her younger sister Tisa Farrow, who genre fans may remember as the star of Lucio Fulci’s 1979 classic Zombie and Joe D’Amato’s 1980 gross-out slasher Anthropophagus, has passed away at the age of 72.

This article contains spoilers for Succession.
While Succession is rife with satirical dark humor, narcissism, nepotism, and Shakespearean family betrayal, the show certainly isn’t going to draw many viewers in through the use of warm and cozy relationships. Perhaps only Connor (Alan Ruck) and Willa (Justine Lupe) serve as the exception there. Logan Roy (Brian Cox) is an abusive father who hit Roman (Kieran Culkin) and toyed with Kendall’s (Jeremy Strong) ego and pride. Shiv (Sarah Snook) shanked her brother in the back in the series finale. Roman took a low blow at Kendall’s ability to be a hereditary father. The list goes on and on. The millionaires and billionaires that make up creator Jesse Armstrong’s critical darling are people seemingly incapable of love or genuine affection.
That’s where the dynamic duo of Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen) and Greg Hirsch (Nicholas Braun) come into the fold.

Richard Elfman redefined underground cinema with his barely-categorizable 1980 film Forbidden Zone, a vehicle for his musical unit The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo. He re-energized absurdist cinema with the musically-propelled sci-fi comedy Aliens, Clowns &- Geeks (2021). Directed and written by Elfman, the upcoming Bloody Bridget is another music-driven piece with a score by Ego Plum and Richard’s brother Danny Elfman.
For Bloody Bridget, Elfman is infusing new blood, and plenty of heart, into the vampire genre he thought he’d staked with the 1998 cult horror movie Revenant (aka Modern Vampires). Richard’s wife Anastasia Elfman plays Bridget, a dance horror choreographer who is sexually harassed and tossed into a legal wringer. Voodoo father Baron Samedi (Jean Charles) mistakes her for his wife, the Irish saint Maman Brigitte, and turns her into a “Valentine vampire.” Blood is just an appetizer for the main course. She “must feast on the hearts of evil-doers,...

Note: This story contains spoilers from “Succession” Season 4 Episode 1
The premiere episode for the fourth and final season of the HBO hit drama series “Succession” is titled “The Munsters.” And while it’s not as jolly as that freak family sitcom, this hour packs more laughs — and monsters — than a dozen chapters of the 1960s show combined.
And maybe a bit of its actual, familial affection. Maybe. Just a bit.
Roy siblings Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) all seem willing to work with, rather than against, each other for a change. Not that they have much choice after their dad Logan squeezed them out of the family business, Waystar Royco, when they tried to do the same to him in last season’s climax. They don’t share total trust and still enjoy demeaning one another, but their solidarity seems, well, solid. Especially compared to...

Five years ago, "Succession" began with Logan Roy's (Brian Cox) birthday party. It was a thrilling affair: baseball was played, dreams were crushed, and Logan endured his very first health scare. In other words, it was harrowing! But somehow, the birthday celebration glimpsed in the season 4 premiere is even bleaker. Hugh Grant has enjoyed decades of success on the big screen. And yet, the actor remains particularly honest and self-deprecating about himself, his work, and the business itself. In 2019, he even opened up about the regrets he has about his career and, in particular, his focus on romantic comedies throughout the 1990s and 2000s. But recently, Grant took an honest look at who he was during his college days, deeming himself “pretentious.”

Like the latest Scream installment, Evil Dead Rise takes its horror into an urban landscape, grappling with demonic forces––e.g. motherhood––that are sometimes just as horrific as the kills in Lee Cronin’s twisted black comedy. If not without a few false notes on the dramatic side, its horror delivers all the bodily fluid you’d expect in a rousing crowd-pleaser that makes a mostly worthy follow-up to Fede Álvarez’s stylish, ultra-violent 2013 edition. That film took the franchise in a new, perhaps too-cruel direction from Rami’s more playful B-movie style. The latest installment reframes its humor as much darker, with a take on caregiving and the evil mother in the vein of Carrie. Cronin elevates the material into something newer and edgier than Rami’s campy, handmade-looking originals. Perhaps there’s no going back once studios are involved, and Evil Dead Rise’s production design by...
