Well that was quick. Just days after announcing Strange Magic with its first look, Lucasfilm is unveiling its first trailer. Check it out below: While on a film shoot far, far away Lucasfilm is producing new Star Wars movies, here at home they are readying for the release of Strange Magic, an animated film on which George Lucas is the executive producer, and scores a story credit. But the inspiration for this fairy-centric tale is actually William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. With the release of Strange Magic's first look, we discovered the film would center on fairies battling over a powerful potion, while occasionally taking a moment to deliver playful covers on pop songs. Thanks to the first trailer, we're seeing these two sides in action, we know the potion "destroys order," and that those pop songs include "Wild Thing," "Say Hey (I Love You)," and "Sugar Pie...

We learned on Wednesday's Top 7 night that the current crop of American Idol stars probably aren't destined for starring roles in Rock of Ages, and that should sit well with all of them. But we learned on Thursday night's elimination show that life continues to be unfair for the pitch-perfect contestants left in the competition and wonderfully fortunate for that other guy. Spin your shiny little bow-tie, you meek little Mephistopheles. Here are 20 observations about Thursday's Coke-sponsored spectacle.
1. That group performance of "Somebody to Love" was, of course, stupid. Something about Janelle's aggressive smiley-ness is grating to me today. Also, Lazaro's voice seriously seems to be dwindling from week to week, while the vibrancy of his clashing apparel is holding steady at "completely jarring."
2. Did I say "Somebody to Love" sucked? Well, it did until Candice tore through it with the raging heavy machinery of her voice, leaving everyone else and their hapless grins decapitated.

Never one to shy away from expressing her opinion, Nicki Minaj took to Twitter last week to dress down an "American Idol" contestant who had lambasted her in comments to the press.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, "Idol" hopeful Devin Velez, who was eliminated last week, had chastised Minaj for being too harsh in her criticism of his group's performance.
As WENN points out, Minaj had expressed exasperation at the sub-par rendition of "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)" performed by Velez, Lazaro Arbos and Burnell Taylor during last week's show. She went so far as to tell the three performers to "get off the stage."
"I agree with the first half of her critique," Velez said in press conference call on Friday. "When she went crazy -- when she was like ‘get off the stage, blah blah blah’ and it’s just like ‘whoa Miss Minaj, I...

Imported from Australia, The Sapphires is a film of about a quartet of soulful Aboriginal girls (Jessica Mauboy, Miranda Tapsell, Shari Sebbens, and Deborah Mailman) who travel to Vietnam in 1968 to perform for American troops. They are managed by the raucous Dave Lovelace (Chris O’Dowd) who gets them to drop their original country music act, and embrace the sounds of Motown.
Co-written by a descendent of the group, the film is based on a true story, which was first turned into a stage production. Sapphires director Wayne Blair played “Jimmy” in the production alongside Mailman.
This is the first feature film to be directed by Blair, and the second to feature singer Mauboy as an actress.
In an exclusive interview, I talked with Blair & Mauboy about their film, the unexpected singing voice of Chris O’Dowd, what it’s like to get a ten-minute standing ovation, and more.

How do you solve a problem like Lazaro (pictured, right)? The ice cream scooper with an extreme stutter, 21, really just doesn’t know any of the words to any of the songs! Somehow he got through Stevie Wonder’s “Once in My Life” with no tears-inducing hiccups for his tepid Motown Week solo (full recap here) — perhaps he’d heard it before, or listened to it thousands of times over the weekend. But his subsequent trio with Burnell Taylor (left) and Devin Velez on “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)” was a complete disaster. Lazaro looked like...

As one of the two finalists on Sunday's (May 13) "The Celebrity Apprentice," Clay Aiken is having deja vu, but he says, "this time, I ain't gonna lose." The "American Idol" runner-up is going head-to-head with former late-night host Arsenio Hall as they compete to be crowned Donald Trump's latest "Celebrity Apprentice," and Clay seems determined to win. But with Lisa Lampanelli, Adam Carolla, Paul Teutul Sr. and Teresa Giudice backing up Arsenio, can Clay take him?
Maybe, especially since it looks like one of Arsenio's own team members, Lisa, has sort of defected -- she calls Clay up during the task to tell him she'll be donating a check to his charity. To be fair, though, it seems like she's giving a chunk of change to Arsenio's charity as well. Clay's not floundering out there all alone, though, as he has a strong team of former celeb-testants helping him out too,...

The set list for tonight’s American Idol Top 5 performance show has been leaked by band leader Ray Chew — in addition to the previously announced British Music theme, the remaining finalists will also tackle a track from the 1960s — and now it’s time to speculate who will sing what.

The American Idol Top 5 are singing two songs tonight, culled from the completely clear and specific theme of ”Now & Then,” with “Now” being music from, um, “now,” and “Then” being music from the 1960s. I do not envy the contestants their task in choosing songs from such a wide-open field of possibilities, especially now that they pretty much need to pull out a show-stopper every time in their ever-narrowing march to the Nokia Theatre. And speaking of “now,” now is the time for contestants like Lauren to blow us out of the water, and contestants like James to continue his momentum by making surprising choices.

To put it delicately, Anna Nicole Smith's estate is less than flush with cash. (They can thank the appeals process for that one.) So Larry Birkhead has done a little rummaging through his late baby mama's closet and, to provide money, an education and a secure future for their now 3 1/2-year-old daughter Dannielynn, has partnered up with Julien's Auctions to sell off Smith's stuff, previewing the items on this morning's Today show. So what's up for grabs? Funny you should ask… Clothing, furniture, a car, Sugar Pie's doggy bed, various memorabilia and even original artwork from Smith are all set to hit the auction block in the name of her daughter.
