More than 250 recording artists have signed a letter to the Senate Committee on Commerce in support of a bill advocating for ticket sale transparency and consumer protections against bots.
Billie Eilish, Dave Matthews, Cyndi Lauper, Lorde, Sia, Train, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Graham Nash, Becky G, and Chappell Roan are among the prominent signees urging Congress to pass the Fans First Act (S. 3457). The bill, introduced by Senators Cornyn, Klobuchar, Blackburn, Welch, Wicker, and Lujan, and the bipartisan Ticket Act (H.R. 3950), sponsored by Reps. Bilirakis, Schakowsky, and Armstrong, which passed out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, address the live event ticketing system. The letter claims current practices leave fans and artists alike exposed to the predatory practices of bad actors within the secondary ticketing market.

Just over a week ago Sean “Diddy” Combs’ son Christian was in cuffs as law enforcement in Los Angeles and Miami raided the homes of his father amid sex trafficking accusations. Now, the 26-year old himself has been accused of sexual assault by a steward on a luxury yacht the family rented in late 2022 — and the elder Combs is a defendant too.
“Although Defendant S. Combs was always typically on the yacht, his sons, Defendant C. Combs and Justin Combs, were staying in a luxury villa nearby but joined their father aboard the yacht most evenings,” reads the jury-seeking suit filed late Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court by the yacht’s then-steward Grace O’Marcaigh.
While the elder Combs isn’t accused of sexual assault in the O’Marcaigh matter, he is viewed as aiding and abetting the situation.

Sean “Diddy” Combs and his youngest son, Christian “King” Combs, 26, have been named in a new lawsuit that accuses the younger Combs of sexually assaulting a woman who was working on a luxury yacht chartered by the Combs family for a 2022 winter trip in St. Martin.

It’s hard to believe how many hurdles Seal Team has survived throughout its run.
The hit military drama started as a CBS original and was moved to Paramount+ as a streaming original several years ago amid concerns for its future.
After beating the odds for so many years, we’re about to say goodbye for good as Seal Team Season 7 will conclude the David Boreanaz-led drama.
While the seventh season was ordered over a year ago, fans have been anxiously awaiting word on a premiere date.
Thankfully, Boreanaz took to Instagram to share an update on the premiere date and a first look at the script for the series finale.
The actor noted that the “last word is on the table,” before sharing, “August here we come.”

It was a tense game of Wheel of Fortune on Thursday night (March 14) as one contestant swooped in at the last moment to clinch the final puzzle and cement their spot in the Bonus Round. The contestant in question was Max McGee from Lake Barrington, Illinois, who told host Pat Sajak he watches the show every day at 5:30 am after recording it the night before. He also revealed he was on the musical variety television series Dance Fever back in the 1980s. McGee had reason to dance after Thursday’s game, where he snuck in at the last second to “steal” an answer from fellow contestant Patricia Blackburn-Hunt from Miami, Florida. For the final puzzle of regular play, the three contestants, including New Rochelle, New York native Billie Kolinsky, were trying to figure out a five-word puzzle under the “Phrase” category. When a bunch of all-stars get together to record a song for a cause, the result can often be cringey. But “Tennessee Rise,” featuring the pulpit-ready voices of Brittany Howard, Allison Russell, Katie Pruitt, Amanda Shires, Fancy Hagood, Emmylou Harris, and more, hits all the marks.
The heavenly choir anthem was recorded to encourage Tennesseans to register and vote for Gloria Johnson, who is challenging Republican incumbent U.S. senator — and the state’s Darth Vader — Marsha Blackburn in the November election. Johnson is one of the lawmakers known as “The Tennessee Three,...

Update: There’s a reason that attacks on Taylor Swift continued throughout the day today: She’s a celebrity guaranteed to drive web traffic, particularly to right-wing media figures advancing ever more outlandish conspiracy theories. For much of today, social media focused on figures like Jack Posobiec and Benny Johnson, who benefit from the attention even if it’s to try to discredit them.
While a Swift endorsement of Joe Biden may very well hold enough sway to be of concern to Donald Trump’s campaign, the fixation on cooking up conspiracy theories about her has more to do with what draws attention in a hyper-competitive universe of voices on the right.
Erick Erickson, the conservative commentator, wrote on X/Twitter, “Let me explain what is actually going on with these hucksters, charlatans, and grifters on the right. They don’t believe it. They hope you might believe it. They...

Amazon and the Tolkien estate have emerged victorious in a multi-pronged legal battle over “The Lord of the Rings” franchise.
In April author Demetrious Polychron published a book called “The Fellowship of the King” which he claimed was a sequel to “The Lord of the Rings.” He planned for the book to be the first in a seven-part series.
The author then filed suit against both Amazon and the Tolkien estate, claiming the streaming series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” had borrowed from his sequel and infringed his copyright.
It can now be reported for the first time that a California judge summarily dismissed Polychron’s lawsuit with prejudice in August.
The Tolkien estate then countersued the author for infringing on their copyright. A U.S. district judge found in the estate’s favor this fall, granting them a permanent injunction to prevent Polychron from “copying distributing,...

Senate Legislation Would Outlaw Unauthorized AI-Generated Likenesses; SAG-AFTRA Lauds “No Fakes Act”
Four U.S. senators today announced a discussion draft bill aimed at protecting actors, singers and others from having their voice and likeness generated by artificial intelligence. The bipartisan Nurture Originals, Foster Art, and Keep Entertainment Safe Act, or No Fakes Act (read it here), would hold people, companies and platforms liable for producing or hosting such digital replicas.
SAG-AFTRA applauded the announcement today, with President Fran Drescher saying: “A performer’s voice and their appearance are all part of their unique essence, and it’s not ok when those are used without their permission. Consent is key.”
The No Fakes Act would prevent a person from producing or distributing an unauthorized AI-generated replica of an individual to perform in an audiovisual or sound recording without the consent of the individual being replicated. The person creating or sharing the unauthorized replication would be liable for the damages caused by the AI-generated fake.

For the second time in less than two months, YouTube is responding to a critical inquiry into its advertising practices. Senators Ed Markey (D-ma) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tn) have written a letter to the FTC asking for an investigation into YouTube’s ad placements on videos intended for children.
The latest to-do over children’s online safety started with a report from Adalytics. The ad data platform — which previously argued that the Google Video Partners program “misled” buyers — raised questions about the data collection that could be happening on kid-friendly content.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told lawmakers on Tuesday that the “right thing to do” is to make sure that content owners “get significant upside benefit” from artificial intelligence technology that has raised new concerns over copyright and compensation.
At a Senate subcommittee hearing on Tuesday, Altman was questioned by some lawmakers over the use of copyrighted material to train OpenAI’s ChatGPT to generate new works. The use of AI is an issue in the Writers Guild of America strike against the studios, but content creators in general have raised concerns over what the technology means for protection of their intellectual property.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tn) said that the music artists in her state “should be able to decide if their copyrighted songs and images are going to be used to train these models.” She cited OpenAI’s Jukebox, which generates music in “a variety of genres and artist styles.

Kelly Clarkson said her next record was going to be a “divorce” album – and it seems like she has delivered.
In a teaser of the single “Mine” off of her forthcoming album Chemistry, the singer sang some powerful lyrics, seemingly aimed at her ex-husband Brandon Blackburn, whom she divorced in 2021.
“Someone’s gonna show you how a heart can be used / like you did mine,” Clarkson belts in the video posted on Instagram on Tuesday (4 April).
The 2002 American Idol winner recently explained to fans how she came up with the album’s title.
“This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship,” she said in a March Instagram video. “The good, the bad and the ugly.”
“Chemistry can be a really amazing, sexy, cool, fun thing, but it can also be really bad for you,” she added. “I thought it was the perfect title to describe the entire album.

The GOP has a well-established playbook for the aftermath of a school shooting: thoughts, prayers, and protecting the guns.
On Monday morning, authorities say a woman entered the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, and shot and killed three students and three school staff members. The suspect, identified by officials as a 28-year-old former student of the school, was armed with two assault rifles and a handgun.
Republican lawmakers from both Tennessee and around the country offered their condolences for the victims and their families, but many of these same lawmakers...

Rosanne Cash, Jason Isbell, Sheryl Crow, and Margo Price were just some members of the Nashville music community calling out Tennessee politicians over the state’s gun laws following a mass shooting at a private Christian school on Monday morning that left seven dead, including the shooter.
Cash and Crow along with Nashville singer-songwriter Will Hoge, all responded to Republican state senator Marsha Blackburn’s tweet saying she and her husband Chuck were “heartbroken” over the tragedy.

In the wake of the Taylor Swift “Eras Tour” ticketing debacle, two senators have sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission expressing concern over how the agency has been enforcing a 2016 law meant to keep bots from scooping up tickets.
The letter, shared by Billboard, was addressed to FTC chair Lina Khan and sent by Connecticut Democrat Richard Blumenthal and Tennessee Republican Marsha Blackburn (who hasn’t always had the nicest things to say about Swift, who endorsed her opponent in 2018). The pair highlighted not only the chaotic Swift sale,...

Paramount+’s Seal Team season six episode 10 finds the team mourning the loss of one of their own. Fans are still reeling from the events of episode nine which found Clay Spenser passing away – and Max Thieriot exiting the series. Given that Thieriot’s the lead in Fire Country, Clay’s death was shocking yet not unexpected.
In an interview with TV Insider, executive producer Spencer Hudnut talked about the decision to kill off Clay.
“For a long time, I really weighed maybe he and Stella (Alona Tal) and Brian do move out to California and live that life that they talk about in this episode. But because of his traumatic injury to his leg, he has a long road ahead to recover, and because the show is so much about vet issues and what our men and women in uniform deal with when they come home, it just felt...

Dylan Mulvaney, an actress who gained a huge following on TikTok when she began chronicling her gender transition in a series called “Days of Girlhood,” is responding to the mounting movement of rightwing vitriol against her, which has been spurned on by people like Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) and even a fellow transgender woman, Caitlyn Jenner.
Mulvaney, who is best known as an actor for playing a role in The Book of Mormon, first gained this undue attention after she had a meeting with President Joe Biden to talk to him about trans rights issues for the news organization NowThis.
Blackburn shared a completely innocuous video by Mulvaney where she told a funny story about getting second looks in the mall while wearing shorts because her crotch “doesn’t look like other women’s crotches sometimes.”
Blackburn added the caption, “left-wing lunatics want to make this absurdity normal,” and then...

Tony Blackburn has joked that Matt Hancock might be taking part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! to pay for “the soaring cost of his electricity bill”.
On Tuesday (1 November), it was reported that the former health secretary will be jetting off to Australia and joining the ITV reality TV series as a “bombshell” contestant alongside comedian Seann Walsh.
The news was then confirmed as Hancock was stripped of the Tory whip with immediate effect, with Rishi Sunak’s spokesperson saying that “the Pm believes that at a challenging time for the country, MPs should be working hard for their constituents in the House or in their constituencies”.
Appearing on Radio 4’s World at One on Tuesday, radio DJ Blackburn – who won the first series of I’m A Celebrity in 2002 – echoed the prime minister’s point.

Transgender TikToker Dylan Mulvaney wants Caitlyn Jenner to know the call is coming from inside the house. On Sunday night, Mulvaney dedicated Day 233 of her “Days of Girlhood” Tiktok series directly to Jenner after the Olympian recently echoed several transphobic and harmful remarks about Mulvaney and her appearance on social media. In the video, Mulvaney called herself and Jenner “two of the most privileged trans women in America at the moment” and asked Jenner to stop using her Republican-given platform to “publicly degrade” the trans community.

The Republican Party is once again bereft of popular policy positions as the 2022 midterms near, which means their electoral strategy once again revolves around pushing the idea that Democrats are out to destroy America. Bill Clinton pointed this out on Sunday. “Republicans always close well. Why?” the former president told CNN. “Because they find some new way to scare the living daylights out of swing voters.”

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot a classic Pretty Little Liars reference in Episode 4 of HBO Max’s Original Sin. But while we all love a good Easter egg, you probably shouldn’t bend over backwards trying to figure out how this particular one fits into the grand design.
In case you missed the reference, it comes 31 minutes into the episode when Noa finds a bottle of oxycodone in her mother’s purse. The problem? The pills are prescribed to someone else.
