Pat Sharp has said he is “truly sorry” for a vulgar remark he made to a woman while hosting an awards show.
The Fun House presenter, 61, was presenting the Conference News Agency Awards on Friday (3 March), when a comment he made, designed to be a joke, fell flat in the room of approximately 400 people.
Sources in attendance at the ceremony claimed that Sharp handed a woman a T-shirt that had a picture of his face and mulleted hair, from the 1980s, alongside the phrase: “Looking Sharp since 1982.”
When the woman joined Sharp onstage, these sources told Deadline that he made an inappropriate comment about his image being on her chest.
According to Sharp’s rep, he told her: “That’s the only way I’m going to get on your t***.” The rep added that the joke was meant as a double entendre for the phrase “get on your nerves...

TV astrologer Mystic Meg has died, aged 80.
The horoscope expert’s agent of 34 years, Dave Shapland, announced the news on Thursday (9 March), stating: “Without any question, she was Britain’s most famous astrologer by a million miles.
“Nobody came close to Meg in that respect. She was followed by millions in this country and also around the world. She even became part of the English language – if a politician, somebody from showbiz or ordinary people in the street are asked a tricky question they will say ‘Who do you think I am, Mystic Meg?’
Shapland added to The Sun: “It shows what an impact she made.”
The horoscope expert, whose real name is Margaret Ann Lake, died after a short illness. She was admitted to London’s St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington after suffering from flu.

RuPaul has spoken out against the passing of an anti-drag bill in Tennessee.
Last week, Tennessee became the first state in the country to effectively ban public drag performances and drag shows for children.
In a video post on the official RuPaul’s Drag Race Twitter on Wenesday (8 March) night, RuPaul shared a message about the importance of voting amid the clamp down on gender expression.
Wearing a pink suit and leopard-print shirt while stood against an American flag, RuPaul began the speech with a quote from Drag Race star Jaida Essence Hall.
“‘Hey, look over there!’” he said. “A classic distraction technique. Distracting us away from the real issues that they were voted into office to focus on. Jobs, healthcare, keeping our children safe from harm at their own school.
“But we know that bullies are incompetent at solving real issues. They look for easy targets so they can...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race UK” continued this week with another installment of the hit spin-off from across the pond. In last week’s fifth episode, RuPaul Charles asked the queens to name the queen that is most deserving of going home, where Scarlett Harlett learned that most of her friends think her head is no longer in the game. Minutes later, Scarlett took on Charity Kase in the lip sync for the second straight week, this time sending her home.
On Thursday’s sixth episode, we see the fallout of the singling out of Scarlett play out in two classic challenges: Reading Is Fundamental and Snatch Game. Read below for our recap of episode 6 to find out in “Snatch Game”:
Following Charity’s elimination, River Medway got right to the point as the girls sat down to decompress. River asked straight away whether or not anyone thought Charity won the lip sync.

Under fire for ‘tassel campaigning’ at the Oscars, Portman showed restraint and defiance in her riposte – plus mindful respect for women colleagues
It’s hard to predict what the big stories from Oscar night will turn out to be. Parasite’s victory was a slight surprise – but not an earth-shaker. Mystic Meg wasn’t required in order to guess that Elton John might give us a tune or Joaquin Phoenix could bringout the vegan big guns.
The joy of the night is the curveball: Scorsese goggling at Eminem; Janelle Monáe popping her shirt button while struggling with a Mr Rogers cardie. Diane Keaton.

Classic rhythm game PaRappa The Rapper is getting a spiritual sequel. Project Rap Rabbit is looking for funds on Kickstarter now....
When we first heard talk of a PaRappa The Rapper spiritual sequel a few days ago, we wondered aloud whether the rumoured project might end up on Kickstarter - the venue for other spiritual revivals like Keiji Inafune's Mighty No 9.

On November 22nd, Sony announced that they’ve sold more than 30.2 million PS4 consoles through to consumers in roughly two years on the market. For those of you not keeping score, that makes it the second fastest selling console of all time behind Nintendo’s cultural phenomenon, the Wii. While the attach rate for the Wii was pretty poor, indicating that people were buying the console and then quickly abandoning it (hello, Gran!), software sales for the latest Sony console are impressive. The PS4 is a games machine that people are buying in droves, and spending a lot of time with, and not even Sony seems to know why.
Of course, sales aren’t everything. The Xbox 360 was arguably the best console of the last generation, with games galore that largely outperformed their PS3 counterparts and a strong, reliable online infrastructure, and by the end of the cycle it likely...

Firstly, I owe you an apology. You put your trust in me last week to predict Steve McClaren’s first Newcastle United eleven and I failed. I claimed I was Mystic Meg and you guys came along for the ride. I don’t blame you, I’d spent the entire summer writing about the Magpies’ new boss and convinced myself that I was on the same wavelength as the Eredivisie Man of Courage.
I hold my hands up; Steve is a hard man to read and without criticising his selections (after all, he did get a 2-2 draw with Southampton) let’s take a peek at some of the more questionable decisions he made. Don’t worry, I’m not going to go all Mike Williamson again as I’ve been presented with incontrovertible video evidence from last September (where the Saints beat Newcastle 4-0) strongly suggesting that...

When the 2012/2013 Premier League season fixtures were announced, many fans started their careers as Mystic Meg replacements. Who would win the League? Who would go down? Many said Reading were in there ‘doomed’ three. Written off before the season had been played out and I’m sorry to say to Reading fans for good reason. I have nothing against Reading and I really enjoyed watching their run in the Championship under Brian McDermott, whom I respect as a Manager; although I do believe they were doomed from the outset.
When Reading were promoted from the Championship, it’d be fair to say that a surge of wins got them there. They were rated at 12/1 to be promoted, not win the Championship but for promotion. The Bookies thought that West Ham, Leicester & Birmingham were better bets for promotion. So in reality, they were outside the ‘main’ three teams of who the bookies thought would go up.

The critics can advise you on what's good and what's bad in all aspects of life – whether it's TV, music, films or food – but at the end of the day, it's the public view that counts. A TV critic can pick apart a really bad programme until the cows come home, but if the public likes it, who cares? How else could you explain the long-running My Family – Aka, the most depressing, mean-spirited excuse for a comedy in the history of telly – a programme that seems to be derided by every critic under the sun, and yet seems to have lasted for decades. See? If the public likes something, then a critic's job sometimes feels a bit pointless.
Still, as I weep into my computer keyboard, at least I can console myself with the fact that My Family's limping to its well deserved end this year. As for Doctor Who,...

Did a folksong-loving teacher really just happen to write England's most famous classical work? Film-maker Tony Palmer questions the myth of the author of The Planets
Making a film – any film – is a journey of exploration. If you knew at the beginning what you know at the end, why bother to make the film? This is one of the reasons I am often spurned by commissioning editors: I begin with no script, certainly no "agenda" (their favourite word), and no schedule. Not much of a budget either, come to think of it.
It was 40 years ago, while filming Benjamin Britten, that I first thought of making a film about Gustav Holst. I had noticed a photograph of the young Holst in Britten's music room, and asked him why. He told me, "I owe him more than I can tell you." Which was odd, because you almost never heard the name...

For all five seasons of Alias, the beady eye of Italian visionary Milo Rambaldi loomed large - even though he snuffed it back in the 15th Century and was never seen on screen. His artwork, inventions and predictions played a vital part in megavillain Arvin Sloane's plans for world domination, and contained much that crossed the boundaries of normal science and understanding. A combination of Leonardo da Vinci and Nostradamus (or alternatively Rolf Harris and Mystic Meg), Rambaldi's prophetic and cryptic artefacts were scattered around the globe and sought by both the evil Sloane's group and Sydney Bristow's do-gooders - and in later seasons by their united powers. Often bearing mind-boggling technological ideas that defied the time period, these relics were very dangerous when entering the wrong hands. Rambaldi's most notable brushstroke was arguably his (more)...
