The trailer for Tini’s new album, Un Mechón de Pelo, starts with the Argentine pop star looking at herself in the mirror with tears in her eyes. She’s holding metal scissors in one hand and a lock of her brown hair in another. A haunting, operatic voice sings in the background while the voice of a little girl screams faintly behind her. Then Tini snips away.
“Sometimes I think I’m crazy. Because I felt crazy,” she recites as tears fall from her eyes. “Crazy like the sea...

Karol G won Album of the Year, Natalia Lafourcade won Record of the Year, Shakira and DJ Bizarrap won Song of the Year, and Joaquina was voted Best New Artist to headline the 24th Latin Grammys, held tonight in Seville, Spain.
For the first time, Latin music’s biggest night was held outside the United States, as Seville rocked to the sounds of reggaeton, hip-hop, merengue, tango, and every genre of Latin music.
It was Karol G’s big night, as the singer took home the Latin Grammy for Album of the Year for “Mañana Será Bonito.” She joked from the stage about how much she loves to talk, but in moments like these, she finds herself speechless.

Who didn’t Tony Bennett duet with?
The legendary singer was famously known for his Grammy-winning, platinum-selling Duet albums that featured everyone from Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse to Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand.
Here, we celebrate the collaborative efforts of Bennett, who died Friday at age 96.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga ditched the upbeat, electronic dance sound that made her popular to work with Bennett on jazz music, a genre she had been singing since she was a teenager. The New Yorkers first collaborated on “The Lady Is a Tramp” from Bennett’s 2011 release Duets II. The pairing was so perfect they went on to record 2014’s Cheek to Cheek, with Bennett and Gaga hoping to turn more kids to jazz music. “[Gaga] has a vast group of young people who love her, and they’ve never heard popular jazz music, classical American music … and my ambition was to do this...

Alicia Keys decided to bring one of Música Mexicana’s prodigies onstage with her as she wraps her tour in Latin America.
During her performance at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional on Wednesday, Keys welcomed Ángela Aguilar and a mariachi to perform Aguilar’s “Qué Agonía” and her own Spanglish hit “Looking for Paradise.”
Videos from the concert captured the two hitting the duet’s high notes by each other’s side as they performed a new Spanglish rendition (with Keys singing the English lyrics) of “Qué Agonía” while backed by a complete mariachi band.

Whether it was during his time as lead singer in the band Los Bukis, or as a solo artist, Marco Antonio Solis has become a staple artist in many Latinx households.

It's been fascinating to see how Latin music - reggaeton in particular - has emerged over the years to become mainstream. But decades before Latin music genres reached global domination and became heavily covered in the media, Billboard was already measuring it using the success of songs, albums, and artists and calculating sales distribution data and radio airplay. Thirty years ago, Billboard Latin Music Week was created, which began as a one-day conference and eventually evolved into a week of conferences in Miami with Latin music artists and executives and eventually accompanied by the Billboard Latin Music Awards show. Leila Cobo, VP of Latin content for Billboard, remembers exactly how it all began. The Latin music journalist and author has played a pivotal role in growing Billboard's Latin presence and also programs the Billboard Latin Music Conference that takes place every year.

I’ve discussed a couple of possible Latin Grammy winners for Album of the Year this year, but what about another general field category? Let’s look at the contenders for Record of the Year.
Alas, Pablo Alborán (“Castillos De Arena”), Camilo (“Pegao”), and Marc Anthony (“Pa’lla Voy”) are just here to fill up space. While Bad Bunny and Bomba Estéreo‘s “Ojitos Lindos” was a big hit and one of the best songs of the year, the academy has tended to shy away from rewarding Benito in the top categories, so I wouldn’t place it among the top contenders. Similarly, Shakira and Rauw Alejandro‘s “Te Felicito” was successful, but not the most successful here, and it isn’t as highly acclaimed as some of its rivals.
Both “Pa Mis Muchachas” by Christina Aguilera, Becky G, Nicki Nicole, and Nathy Peluso and “Baloncito Viejo” by Carlos Vives and Camilo could win,...

Bad Bunny is having the year of his life. The Puerto Rican artist has been on top of charts across the globe with his massive record “Un Verano Sin Ti.” The album is easily the biggest of the year both in the US and in Latin America, producing multiple hit singles as well. So it’s not surprising that he was this year’s biggest nominee at the Latin Grammys, racking up 10 nominations across the general field and the urban music field. However, the Latin Grammys are not the Billboard Awards, and as such Bad Bunny is not assured big wins just based on sales. But what if he actually does take the big awards?
Bad Bunny has a few advantages. As mentioned above, he easily has the most successful record in the category. That isn’t always an important factor, but it could be when you take into account...

2022 has been a great year for Latin music. Artists like Bad Bunny, Karol G, and Anitta have found crossover success and critical acclaim. Rosalía deserves to be in that conversation too. Her third studio album, “Motomami,” broke streaming records upon arrival and became the most acclaimed album of the year, across all languages. This acclaim and commercial success resulted in Rosalía earning a slew of nominations at the 23rd Latin Grammy Awards, including the prestigious Album of the Year. With one win in that category already for her previous record, “El Mal Querer,” will Rosalía manage to achieve another?

The Latin Grammys can be hard to predict. This is mostly due to their tendency to award older artists in the top categories, especially those that emerged from the ’90s and early 2000s.

A musical hint comes at the very start of “Bullet Train,” out now, when a new version of the Bee Gees’ disco classic “Stayin’ Alive” is sung in Japanese – because an American assassin code-named Ladybug (Brad Pitt) is going to spend the next two hours attempting to do just that, battling half a dozen other killers on a high-speed train from Tokyo to Kyoto.
An over-the-top movie like “Bullet Train” demanded an over-the-top score, composer Dominic Lewis (“The King’s Man”) decided, and he spent more than a year not only writing the entire score but also producing (and in several cases co-writing) the songs heard throughout David Leitch’s action thriller.
Leitch’s previous movies have been littered with songs, Lewis knew (“he’s a needle-drop guy”), so his concept became: “Can I write something in the style of a needle-drop, that feels like a song but is doing the job of scoring,...

This year the ceremony might see the return of veterans and buzzy superstars, all competing for top honors for their incredible work in Latin music. Let’s take a look at the biggest contenders.
Bad Bunny is poised to have a big nominations day. The urban star’s fourth album, “Un Verano Sin Ti,” has been a massive success and is arguably the biggest album of the year, topping Spotify charts all over the world and spending multiple weeks atop the Billboard 200 in the US. Bad Bunny is also no stranger to Latin Grammy success. His first album, “X100PRE,” won the Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album. He followed that up with “Yhlqmdlg,” which earned him five nominations including his first for Album of the Year; he ended...

Over a drumroll reminiscent of a march or religious procession, the massive blue velvet curtains came falling down like a waterfall, and the stage at Madrid’s WiZink Center arena on Saturday turned into a dim lit club, complete with small tables, a bartender, a full orchestra and the evening’s master of ceremonies: the Spanish singer, rapper and songwriter C. With the continued crossover success of Latin music in the English-language marketplace, the Grammys have continued to evolve their Latin awards. This year the recording academy split up pop and urban music into their own categories (they were combined last year). So who can we expect to win on January 31? Let’s break down three of the top races.
SEE2022 Grammy predictions: Top 3 artists you shouldn’t underestimate for possible upsets Best Latin Pop Album
This award might be a tight race between American pop star/actress Selena Gomez and Colombian superstar Camilo. On one hand, this category does have its fair share of crossover winners like Ricky Martin, Bad Bunny, Shakira, and Marc Anthony, which helps Gomez a lot. Furthermore, she is very much in the public eye right now, doing promo for her new movie “Hotel Transylvania 4” as well as gaining awards buzz for her role in...

The 2021 Latin Grammy nominations came with some expected nominees and pleasing surprises, and a lot of artists got key noms that could help them make history at these awards. Let’s take a look at five artists who could leave their mark in unprecedented ways.
SEEWhich albums have won the most Grammys? The biggest of all-time from Santana to Billie Eilish Camilo
Colombian pop superstar Camilo is the biggest nominee this year with 10. Among these are five general field nominations: “Vida de Rico” for Record and Song of the Year and its parent album “Mis Manos” for Album of the Year. He also has two additional noms for his work on “Amén” and “Dios Así Lo Quiso,” both by his father-in-law Ricardo Montaner. If Camilo manages to win the three general categories on one night, he’ll become the first artist to pull this off since 2011, when Calle 13 swept the Grammys.

November 19th, 2020: C. Tangana is in Madrid. At midnight he receives an invitation from Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler to go into the studio and finish a pending session. The meeting — which coincided with the Latin Grammys, where Drexler was competing for Song of the Year — ended up being the foundation of “Nominao,” a set of hard rhymes to the beat of three chords and a bass drum.

With the 2021 Grammys just around the corner on March 14, the question on everyone’s mind is who will come out on top. Scoring nine nominations this year including Record of the Year (twice) and Song of the Year, it’s safe to say Beyoncé has to win something at least. Her best bets are probably in genre categories, with “Black Parade” leading the odds for Best R&b Song and Best R&b Performance, as well as her Megan Thee Stallion collaboration “Savage” ahead so far in our predictions for Best Rap Performance.

The 2021 Grammy nominations have music fans scratching their heads. Not everyone in our forums thought The Weeknd deserved nominations for his album “After Hours,” but most of them say that not even nominating his single “Blinding Lights” in any category “makes no sense and is hella sketchy.” And they’re equally nonplussed at Justin Bieber earning four noms despite mixed reviews for his 2020 music.
That said, a number of forum posters give kudos to top nominees like Jhene Aiko, whose “Chilombo” is part of “the strongest [Album of the Year field] in a while.” Suffice it to say that this year’s noms were a mixed bag. Nominations for the Grammy Awards are coming this Tuesday November 24, and there are categories that might set new records, either for wins or for nominations. Let’s look at a few.
DISCUSS2021 Grammy predictions: Album of the Year
Record of the Year
Multiple records could be broken in this category this year. First, if Beyoncé gets a nomination this year — whether it is for “Savage (Remix)” with Megan Thee Stallion, her own “Black Parade,” or maybe even both — she’ll break the record for the most nominations for a female artist in this category, which she currently holds in a tie with Barbra Streisand at five apiece. Beyonce’s previous nominations were for “Say My Name” (as a member of Destiny’s Child in 2001), “Crazy in Love” (2004), “Irreplaceable” (2008), “Halo” (2010) and “Formation” (2017).
Not only that, Beyoncé would also join a select list of artists who’ve had Roty nominations in three different decades.
