Critics are blasting Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) for her poor management of the state of Arkansas while she eyes the national spotlight.
Arkansas chicken growers are still reeling after the state euthanized a million chickens last year.
The Huckabee-run Arkansas Department of Agriculture helped kill the chickens for Cooks Venture, a poultry firm closed due to financial issues.
The state Legislature’s Joint Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development heard testimony his month that the cull had been poorly managed and messaged.
It’s just the latest scandal to beset the Huckabee administration, which is in turmoil as the governor eyes a potential cabinet position in a second Trump administration.
In March 2023, Sanders signed House Bill 1410, also known as the Youth Hiring Act of 2023, which would eliminate a measure requiring employers to procure work certificates for children under the age of 16.

Stereophonic, currently on Broadway, has received 13 Tony Award nominations, and includes songs written by Will Butler from the indie rock band Arcade Fire. The play tells the story of a fractious 1970s Fleetwood Mac-like rock band recording what will be a massive Rumours-like hit record.
Dead Outlaw, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and Erik Della Penna and a book by Itamar Moses, is inspired by the life of Elmer McCurdy. The musical, which premiered this year at the Minetta Lane Theatre, was originally conceived by Yazbek and tells the story of an outlaw from the early 20th Century whose corpse became a traveling sideshow exhibit for decades.

Exclusive: After clinching the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2019 with her debut fiction feature Atlantics, French-Senegalese filmmaker Mati Diop had one burning desire.
“My dream was to set up a film school in Dakar,” she tells Deadline.
Diop made history that year in Cannes as the first Black woman to compete in the festival’s official competition. She clocked a similar milestone in February when she became the first Black filmmaker to win Berlin’s Golden Bear with the inventive documentary Dahomey.
Borrowing its name from the ancient West African kingdom of Dahomey, located in the south of today’s Republic of Benin, the doc opens in November 2021 as twenty-six royal treasures from the former Kingdom are about to leave Paris to return to their country of origin. Along with thousands of others, the artifacts were plundered by French colonial troops in 1892.

It’s been a long time coming, but a remake of the 1994 film The Crow (which was based on the comic book series created by James O’Barr) will finally be making its way out into the world on August 23rd, which is when Lionsgate will be giving the film a theatrical release. With that release date swiftly approaching, we figured we should gather together all the information we have on this movie… and here it is, Everything We Know About The Crow Remake:
Development Hell
When the original The Crow was released, it was successful enough to spawn a franchise, with three sequels following over the next eleven years. We got The Crow: City of Angels in 1996, The Crow: Salvation in 2000, and The Crow: Wicked Prayer in 2005, with several other potential sequels (including one that would have been written and directed by Rob Zombie) being developed and scrapped along the way.

When Disney purchased the 20th Century Fox library in 2019, it caused some consternation among cineastes. The Fox catalog was vast and impressive, containing tons of indelible classics and even more titles waiting deep inside the studio's archive. 20th Century Fox was formed in 1935 and quickly became one of the "big five" studios that dominated the film industry for decades. Fox hadn't seen a shake-up this dramatic since 1985 when ultra-conservative media mogul Rubert Murdoch bought a controlling share of the company from Marvin Davis.
When Disney made its purchase, many film fans wondered if Fox's old classics would be made more widely available through the about-to-launch Disney+. When the streaming service debuted with a paltry 500 titles, cineastes were aghast. Why buy all those Fox titles if you're not going to distribute them?

Apple TV+’s historical drama Manhunt takes place after Lincoln’s assassination. The story revolves around Edwin Stanton, the US Secretary of War and one of the two main characters. During one of the most grueling periods in American history, Stanton took it upon himself to assist Lincoln in creating a nation that was free to all people. Whether the real Edwin Stanton truly was as righteous as shown in this Apple TV+ series would be up for debate, but Tobias Menzies’ portrayal of Stanton has won my heart. Through his own journey, this fictional Stanton makes the audience acknowledge the ideas and struggles of the Black folks that he stood for. For centuries, White folks had enslaved and oppressed people of color, but for men like Lincoln and Stanton to appropriately use their privilege to put an end to this cycle of violence and oppression was a display of valor and humility.

Manhunt by Apple TV+ finally reaches a bittersweet conclusion. In the previous episode, Stanton’s Union servicemen finally caught up to Booth and Herold, who were hiding in a barn near Richmond, Virginia. The Union Cavalry arrived at the scene, leading to Booth getting shot at the hands of Sergeant Corbett. In a manner similar to Lincoln, Booth too was shot in the back of his head. Stanton orders his men to have Booth’s body buried where nobody can find him and make him a martyr.
Now that the President’s assassin is executed, Stanton and his men proceed to arrange a case against the Confederates, through which he wishes to accuse Jefferson Davis of conspiracy against the President. Stanton and his men call it the ‘grand conspiracy’ but also feel that this plan is far-fetched. Regardless, with President Johnson’s approval, they made a case and gathered enough...

Three-time Oscar-nominated director Chris Sandlers and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o previewed unfinished footage of DreamWorks Animation’s “The Wild Robot” at CinemaCon — what Sandlers says took inspiration from Disney classics and Hayao Miyazaki’s work, resulting in an original visual style that he described as “a Monet painting in a Miyazaki forest.”
Based on Peter Brown’s book, the story follows Roz, a robot voiced by Nyong’o, who is accidentally marooned on an uninhabited island. There, the city robot meets and learns from the animals in her new environment.
In this rich world, a fox meets and advises Roz. “You need to learn how things work on this island, and kindness is not a survival skill,” the fox says.
Soon Roz watches a gosling hatch, who believes Roz is his mother. They form a bond as Roz tries to figure out how the baby can learn to swim and fly.

The Apple TV+ original Manhunt is back with yet another gripping episode about Edwin Stanton’s hunt for the man who killed his friend, President Abraham Lincoln. Edwin was Lincoln’s follower in his battle to make America the land of the free, and even after the President’s unfortunate death, he continued to adhere to Lincoln’s ideals. Even though the flame that Lincoln started died down with Andrew Johnson’s presidency, Stanton had to make sure that America didn’t become a country where you could own another human being or even get away with shooting the President of the country.
In the previous episode, we saw the enactment of Lincoln’s policy on letting Black men enlist as servicemen and gain the opportunity to vote. As the country opens up to the idea of seeing people of color as equals, the Confederate agenda still runs rampant. During one such racially driven act,...

Reba McEntire got choked up on Monday’s (March 25) episode of The Voice after one of her team members revealed an emotional connection to a Luke Combs song. With the Battle Rounds now underway, McEntire paired up her “good ol’ boys” Josh Sanders and Donny Van Slee to perform Combs’ number-one country hit “When It Rains, It Pours.” While the song is a fun, upbeat country track, Sanders confessed to McEntire that the lyrics spoke to him in a different way. “‘When it rains, it pours,’ that lyric hits me kinda heavy,” Sanders shared. “I’m a dad of four girls. We had a son. He was born and passed away on my birthday.” He continued, “It’s such a fun song, and I don’t wanna take it there.” However, Sanders received emotional support from a tearful McEntire and Van Slee. “Before I go onstage, I ask the Holy Spirit to walk for me,...

Alex Proyas, director of the original 1994 film The Crow starring Brandon Lee, has spoken out against Rupert Sanders’ upcoming remake.
In a since-deleted Facebook post (via Variety), Proyas wrote, “I really don’t get any joy from seeing negativity about any fellow filmmakers work. And I’m certain the cast and crew really had all good intentions, as we all do on any film. So it pains me to say any more on this topic, but I think the fan’s response speaks volumes. [The Crow] is not just a movie. Brandon Lee died making it, and it was finished as a testament to his lost brilliance and tragic loss. It is his legacy. That’s how it should remain.” Proyas’ post also contained a link to an article titled, “The Crow Remake Trailer Gets Staggering Amount of Dislikes on YouTube.”

After more than 15 years of development hell, the reimagining of “The Crow” will finally hit theaters this summer.
“The Crow” is based on the indie comic book series of the same name by James O’Barr that was originally published back in 1989 by Caliber Press. 30 years ago in 1994, a film adaptation of the comic book by visionary director Alex Proyas was released into theaters, perhaps better known as the movie where star Brandon Lee was accidentally shot and killed on set during the middle of production.
Miramax stepped in and spent $8 million to pick up where production left off and finish the film. “The Crow” went on to gross $93.7 million at the box office against its $23 million budget, and the film eventually became a cult classic. Three lackluster sequels and a television adaptation would follow, however the property had always been earmarked for what current distributor Lionsgate is calling a reimagining.

“It’s not anger. It’s love.” Such is the ethos of “The Crow” — and the most memorable line in today’s first trailer for Rupert Sanders’ long-gestating remake of the 1994 cult drama of the same name.
This time around, it’s Bill Skarsgård bringing the iconic, love-driven baddie back to life. The breakout “It” star leads the new reimagining of the graphic novel that was infamously brought to the big screen in 1994.
