DreamWorks Animation have announced a very exciting total of nine films to be released in the coming five years.
Three of the nine will be sequels to previous successes (Kung Fu Panda 2, Madagascar 3, and How To Train Your Dragon 2), and the rest will be originals – albeit, with Puss In Boots being a spin-off from the Shrek franchise.
The release schedule looks as follows:
– Kung Fu Panda 2, 26th May, 2011
– Puss In Boots, 4th November, 2011
– Madagascar 3, 8th June, 2012
– Rise Of The Guardians, 21st November, 2012
– The Croods, 1st March, 2013
– Turbo, 7th June, 2013
– My And My Shadow, 8th November, 2013
– Mr. Peabody & Sherman, 21st March, 2014
– How To Train Your Dragon 2, 20th June, 2014
Looking down the list, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched a prediction to expect the studio to have nine very successful films on their hands. The three sequels will naturally attract and build on the original audience,...

Today DreamWorks Animation issued a press release announcing their theatrical plans through 2014 featuring six original films three sequels based on Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon franchises. Or, at least, that's how they put it. You could also include the Shrek franchise in there as well as Puss in Boots hits theaters on November 4 along with Kung Fu Panda 2 on May 26 as the studio's other 2011 release.
I will get to the details on the list of films in a second, but I thought I would first reference Rumblewick, which was announced as going in production last week via a press release that also included the above piece of art. The film is being directed by Tim Johnson (Over The Hedge, Antz) with a screenplay by Jim Herzfeld (Meet the Fockers, Meet the Parents), which is inspired by the children's book, "My Unwilling...

Disney and Pixar have always been the undisputed champions of animation but a new contender has been rising in the ranks over the last several years: DreamWorks. The studio that brought us the Shrek films, Antz, Chicken Run, Madagascar, Bee Movie and many others has been fighting the good fight for the better part of a decade and while they have yet to over take Disney and Pixar, their upcoming slate sounds like they're once again swinging for the fences. On Tuesday, DreamWorks Animation announced their upcoming slate all the way from this summer's Kung Fu Panda 2 through 2014 when they'll release How To Train Your Dragon 2 on June 20. In between, they're preparing original films featuring the likes of Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher, Jude Law, Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone and many others. After earning many new fans with How to Train Your Dragon last year, Dreamworks seems to have gotten a fresh start in their animated department. While they have the sure-to-be-awful Puss in Boots on the way, Dragon and the popular Kung Fu Panda are getting sequels, and there seems to be a shift in focus towards more creative-based projects- certainly a change from their usual, calculated approach towards CG fare. Check out the release dates below:

If you were wondering whether there would be any 3D computer-animated films in theaters two years from now, we’ve got your answer. Today, Dreamworks Animation Skg, Inc. announced its new original project, Me and My Shadow, is slated to hit screens in March 2013.
Me and My Shadow tells the story of Shadow Stan, a frustrated shadow who dreams of leading an exciting life. Unfortunately, he’s stuck trailing Stanley Grubb, the most boring man in the world. When he can’t stand his dull existence one second longer, he breaks the only rule of the shadow world, “They lead, we follow,” and takes direct control of Grubb.
Dreamworks is using this film to pioneer what it calls a “groundbreaking” combination of seamlessly blended computer-generated and traditional animation techniques in 3D. The studio impressed us this year with How to Train Your Dragon, so it’s safe to assume Me...

DreamWorks Animation dropped off a press release this morning announcing a new 3D animated film called Me and My Shadow. There's no voice cast yet, but the plot will follow "Shadow Stan, an extremely frustrated shadow who yearns for a dynamic life but happens to be stuck with Stanley Grubb, the world's most boring human. Finally pushed to the brink, Shadow Stan breaks the singular rule of the Shadow World ("They lead, we follow"), and takes control of Stanley!" More information about the forces behind the film is after the break. Here's the hook: the film will be a mix of CG and "traditional animation techniques." I can't say it any better than the press release did, so let's cut and paste: Mark Dindal (Chicken Little, The Emperor's New Groove) is the film's director and Melissa Cobb (Kung Fu Panda, Kung Fu Panda 2) and Teresa Cheng (Shrek Forever After,...

In Shrek Forever After, otherwise known as Shrek: The Final Chapter, Shrek (Mike Myers) learns what life is like if he had never been born, turning his world completely upside down. While Fiona (Cameron Diaz) is now a warrior princess leading an ogre revolution and Donkey (Eddie Murphy) remaining his unchanged, annoying self, it's Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) that sees the biggest change, turning from a suave adventurer to one big, pampered kitty. Director Mike Mitchell explained why they made the choice at the press junket last weekend.
