All eyes were on Zendaya as she stepped out in a flapper-esque vintage Roberto Cavalli dress at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards on Wednesday night at 1 Hotel’s Harriet’s in West Hollywood.
As co-chair of the event, which also drew Chrissy Teigen, Helen Hunt, Jennifer Coolidge, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Annie Lennox, Zendaya has long embraced vintage for red carpet appearances.
Most impressively, her last look — a chrome suit of armor from Mugler’s Fall Winter 1995 couture collection — reportedly generated $13.3 million in media exposure after wearing the piece to the Dune: Part Two premiere in London.
To mark this occasion, she rocked a silver roaring twenties-inspired gown from Cavalli’s spring 2011 collection. But the night was about much more than just sustainable sartorial selections.
“Fashion has always been a lens that we use to look at the world,” the awards show’s founder Livia Firth explained. “When you want...

Last month, Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro put out a call to the public, asking people to send ideas for music by Latin artists to submit to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry. It’s part of a years-long effort on Castro’s part to get more Latin art preserved within the Library of Congress and to increase Latino representation across media and pop culture.
The National Recording Registry is made up of works considered “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” or that “inform or reflect life in the United States.

Annie Lennox has come a long way since fronting the Grammy Award-winning Eurythmics in the 1980s. Since then she has become a successful solo artist, sold more than 80 million records, and become renowned for her charity work with organizations such as Amnesty International, Greenpeace, and Nelson Mandela’s 46664 Foundation.
The singer, who received the British Red Cross' Services to Humanity Award in 2008, dedicates much of her time to raising awareness of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa.
Lennox released a special fundraising single called Sing, which featured a 23-member choir of female celebrities, including Madonna, Faith Hill, Pink, and many more. Proceeds from the single went to the Treatment Action Campaign (Tac), an organization that that provides much needed support in the continent’s struggle against the deadly virus.

“Let’s do it again/And again, and again, and again,” Noah Lennox implores on “Gem & I,” a dub-inspired track on Animal Collective’s Isn’t It Now? It’s an odd statement, as the Baltimore-based band that Lennox (a.k.a. Panda Bear) helped form some two decades ago has rarely repeated themselves. But while he and his bandmates are often “changing the name,” to quote the song’s chorus, of whatever era they’re in, Lennox accepts, mere moments later, that he’s “staying the same” no matter how hard he tries to resist.
Much like last year’s similarly contemplative Time Skiffs, Isn’t It Now? finds the group’s members ruminating on their triumphs, failures, and regrets—all before coming to a universal, if a tad rote, understanding that things are constantly changing. Both albums also openly embrace organic instrumental palettes, as opposed to the musique...

Even from across the sea of pixels that comprise our zoom call, Jay Wheeler's energy is infectious. He's just spent the majority of the day in a press junket, and I am one of his last calls. But if the 29-year-old artist would rather be doing something else, it doesn't show. When Wheeler enters the room, he is in high spirits, playfully joking around with his team before sitting down in a director's chair flanked by art from his latest EP, "Emociones 1.5." Two things immediately become crystal clear: First, that Wheeler is set to make 2023 his biggest year yet. And second, that despite his talent and tremendous success, the Puerto Rican artist remains as humble and genuine as they come.
Born José Ángel López Martínez, Wheeler's humility is a product of humble beginnings, namely a childhood spent in the small town of Salinas in southern Puerto Rico, a place...
