Dutch musician Joost Klein was disqualified from the Eurovision music contest on Saturday after an alleged intimidation incident. A female production crew member reported Klein to Swedish police after Klein’s performance in the Thursday semi-final.
The European Broadcasting Union, which organizes Eurovision, released a statement. “While the legal process takes its course, it would not be appropriate for him to continue in the contest,” it said. “We would like to make it clear that, contrary to some media reports and social media speculation, this incident did not involve any other performer or delegation member.”
“We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward inappropriate behavior at our event and are committed to providing a safe and secure working environment for all staff at the contest. In light of this, Joost Klein’s behavior towards a team member is deemed in breach of contest rules.”

Not too long ago, there was a brief window during which raw vegan food looked like it could become a legitimate cuisine, a natural evolution of vegan dining focused on scientifically dubious claims about enzymes and energy levels. In 1995, a man who went by Juliano (one name) opened the restaurant Raw Experience, which received a positive review in the San Francisco Chronicle. In 1999, he put out The UNcook Book: New Vegetarian Food for Life. Also in the Bay Area, Roxanne Klein’s restaurant Roxanne’s was even more well received, perhaps because Klein had already attained a mainstream cooking pedigree and published a fully raw cookbook with Chicago’s famed restaurateur Charlie Trotter, titled Raw.
Neither of these restaurants achieved longevity, though, not even in a part of the US that has famously accommodated each new phase of meatless eating over the past few decades. Instead, against all probability, culturally...

Federico Klein, a former Donald Trump administration State Department official, was sentenced to 70 months in prison for taking part in the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Klein was caught on video pushing against police officers in the Capitol’s Lower West Terrace tunnel during the riot, which was led by Trump supporters in an effort to prevent the certification of President Joe Biden.
Federal Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump-appointed judge in Washington, D.C., issued the sentence on Friday.
Klein originally asked to be sentenced to 40 days in prison, which was roughly equal to the amount of time he spent in pretrial custody in 2021. He argued that prosecutors overstated his role in the attack and cited his nine years in the Marine Corps as reasoning for a shorter sentence.
Prosecutors, however, argued that Klein was instrumental in the violence that ensued against Capitol officers that day,...

Following the death of their manager, The Beatles hired Allen Klein, a move that Mick Jagger warned John Lennon against. Klein had worked with The Rolling Stones as well, and Jagger felt that it would be a terrible idea for The Beatles to hire him. He called Lennon to try to warn him, but Lennon wouldn’t listen. Several years later, though, he realized Jagger had been right.
Mick Jagger told John Lennon not to work with Allen Klein
The Rolling Stones worked with Klein before The Beatles hired him, and their working relationship did not end well. The band alleged that Klein had pocketed their royalty payments, failed to pay their taxes, and stolen their publishing rights. Jagger was especially suspicious of Klein, and the band ultimately hired a law firm to look into the way he’d handled their affairs.

Decades after The Beatles broke up, Mick Jagger is still captivating audiences as the lead singer of The Rolling Stones. The Stones have been performing together for 60 years and are still releasing music. While they’ve taken a short break before, they’ve never announced a permanent split like The Beatles did. Jagger once said that if The Rolling Stones did break up, they wouldn’t do it as dramatically as The Beatles had.
Mick Jagger said a Rolling Stones breakup wouldn’t look like The Beatles’ split
In 1969, John Lennon told his bandmates he no longer wanted to be in The Beatles, effectively breaking up the band. Paul McCartney broke the news to the public in 1970, and from there, the former bandmates began airing their dirty laundry.
They spoke negatively about one another in interviews and wrote songs about one another. McCartney even sued his former bandmates to ensure...

“The Recruit” producer P3 Media has scored a seven-figure investment from Ready Entertainment, a company led by Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter, Bernice A. King, and Ashley Bell.
Founded by journalist Adam Ciralsky (the inspiration for Netflix’s hit Noah Centineo-led spy thriller “The Recruit”), P3 is expanding its lineup with upcoming feature doc “The Return.” That title, produced alongside Ciralsky’s P3 partner Gene Klein, centers on the White House’s efforts to free Americans held hostage abroad. “With unprecedented access, the film chronicles high stakes and unconventional efforts to free Eyvin Hernandez, an L.A. County public defender who has been held in Venezuela since March 2022,” per P3.
“This is an extraordinary film about a remarkable individual who has been held in a foreign prison for the crime of being an American,” said King, who along with Bell will join Ciralsky and Klein as an executive producer on the film.

Stefanos Tsitsipas made a return at the Davis Cup , and he got the win for his country as his opponent, Lukas Klein, retired in the final set.
This was an exciting match for Stefanos Tsitsipas, who didn't have the best of times recently on the court. Getting back home and playing some tennis sounded like a great antidote for all of that, but it didn't quite prove true in the opening set.
It was a very close and competitive set that went to the tiebreak as neither player used their chances. Tsitsipas played okay but nothing spectacular, which is why he lost the opening set 7-3. Klein simply had more nerves down the line and produced better shots when it mattered the most.
The second set was another interesting one, but we saw a much better level from Tsitispas. He was pretty strong on his serve, allowing minimal chances, but...

“Big Mouth” is embracing its savage side with the announcement that Grammy-winning Megan Thee Stallion will guest star in Season 7. The penultimate season of the Netflix animated comedy is set to premiere October 20.
Based on this first teaser, the rapper will be playing a Hormone Monstress named — you guessed it — Megan Thee Stallion. That’s right, the “Body” singer is playing herself. True to the rapper’s brand, there’s a lot of twerking and tongue thrusting in the short clip.

After The Beatles disbanded, John Lennon and Paul McCartney were entangled in a public feud for a brief time. The feud manifested in a few of their solo songs, with the two former bandmates exchanging blows in lyrics the best way they knew how. Many theorized that one John Lennon song was about Paul McCartney, but Lennon clarified that it was “for sure,” not about Sir Macca.
John Lennon said the song ‘Steel and Glass’ was not about Paul McCartney
“Steel and Glass” is a song from Lennon’s fifth solo album 1974’s Walls and Bridges. It’s one of Lennon’s more vicious songs, like “You leave your smell like an alley cat.” This led many to speculate about who the song might be about, and one person who was a possible target was Paul McCartney.

Dubstep legends Burial and Kode9 have revealed a new EP called Infirmary / Unknown Summer.
The project, out via Kode9’s label Hypderdub, consists of one song by Burial and one song by Kode9. It follows the artists’ 2018 DJ mix Fabriclive 100, a 74-minute blend of tracks by Klein, David Hykes, Clementine, DJ Taye, and more that marked the 100th installment in Fabric nightclub’s Fabriclive mix series.

Despite being nominated for a staggering nine awards at the 1983 Hong Kong Film Awards, “Nomad” ultimately went home empty-handed. The major nominations included “Best Picture,” “Best Director,” “Best Screenplay,” “Best Cinematography,” and “Best Actor” (Leslie Cheung). “Nomad” is one of the pioneering works that kickstarted the “Hong Kong New Wave,” which began around 1979 and reached its peak in the beginning of the 1980s.
Nomad is screening on Focus Hong Kong
The film follows the tumultuous lives of four Hong Kong youths. Leslie Cheung plays Louis, a shy bourgeois who spends his days listening to recordings of his deceased mother, accompanied by his cousin Kathy (Pat Ha). Their fates intertwine with that of Pong (Kent Tong), whom Kathy ends up falling in love with, and Tomato (Cecilia Yip), Louis' future girlfriend. The film's Chinese title, literally translated as “youth in flames” or “flaming youth,” encapsulates the essence of the work. Patrick Tam...

Kanye West is being accused of more antisemitic remarks in a new BBC documentary.
The Trouble with KanYe, by British journalist Mobeen Azhar features Alex Klein, a former Daily Beast writer, who says West made disturbing antisemitic remarks when he worked with the troubled rapper.
Klein worked with West when his album, Donda 2, was released exclusively on Klein’s platform, Stem Player, in February 2022.
Stem Player is a music streaming platform that was released in 2021 under Klein’s company, Kano. In November last year, Klein, who is half-Jewish, announced the end of their partnership with Ye following the antisemitic comments he posted on Twitter.
“Kanye was very angry, you know, he was saying, ‘I feel like I wanna smack you’ and ‘you’re exactly like the other Jews’ – almost relishing and reveling in how offensive he could be, using these phrases hoping to hurt me,” Klein says in the documentary.

When The Beatles broke up, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and John Lennon were on one side of the divide, while Paul McCartney was on the other. McCartney sued the band in order to wrest control from manager Allen Klein. The split and legal battle meant the dynamic between the former bandmates was a stormy one. Starr wanted to maintain a friendly working relationship with his former bandmates, though. While he trusted that Lennon and Harrison would continue collaborating with him, he didn’t know if McCartney would.
Ringo Starr worried his working relationship with Paul McCartney was over
After the death of longtime Beatles manager Brian Epstein, the band hired Klein. McCartney wasn’t happy with this decision, though. He wanted to hire Lee Eastman, his father-in-law, something the rest of the band stood firmly against. These business dealings muddied their musical relationship, and by 1970, they had announced their breakup.

Station 19 is set to hit its 100th episode in the 2023-24 season after ABC renewed the first-responders drama series for a seventh season.
The network also has confirmed that Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige will serve as showrunners and exec producers after Deadline revealed that Krista Vernoff was stepping down from Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy, with the pair likely to step up.
Over the past few years, the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff has been getting renewals alongside its mothership series. However, Grey’s was renewed for its 20th season last month, and Deadline understood that the holdup on Station 19 was the size of the order, which ABC has not revealed. Previous seasons have generally been 16-18 episodes.
Helping this renewal was the fact that the main cast have contracts that cover next season and beyond.

When John Lennon was done with The Beatles, he was done with The Beatles. He wanted to concentrate on moving forward and not looking back. That meant a reunion was absolutely out of the question.

Lennon officially told his bandmates, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, that he’d decided to leave the group during a meeting with Allen Klein in Sept. 1969. Klein convinced Lennon to keep his decision hush-hush so as to not compromise a renegotiation that was in the works with the group’s Emi/Capitol contract.
“We were discussing something in the office with Paul and Paul was saying to do something, and I kept saying, ‘No, no, no’ to everything he said,” reads Lennon Remembers by Jann S. Wenner, according to Beatles Bible. “So it came to a point that I had to say something.

In the late 1960s, The Beatles struggled to manage themselves after the death of Brian Epstein, so they hired Allen Klein. The decision caused a rift between the band members that led, at least partly, to their break up. Klein continued to manage John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr after the split, but they ultimately ended their business relationships. In the years after he stopped working with The Beatles, here’s what happened to Klein.

In 1967, the band’s longtime manager, Epstein, died of an overdose. They struggled to manage without him and, on Mick Jagger’s recommendation, decided to hire Klein, who had been managing The Rolling Stones.

The couple behind h3h3productions and the digital media company known as Bbtv are in the midst of a messy breakup. h3h3 co-host Ethan Klein has threatened to take Bbtv to court after accusing the network of improperly claiming $620,000 of YouTube Channel Membership revenue.
h3h3productions partnered with Bbtv in 2017, when the Vancouver-based company still referred to itself as BroadbandTV. By the terms of the agreement, h3h3 got to keep 100% of “Google Net Revenue,” which included income from YouTube.
The partnership carried on for years, but Klein recently noticed that something was “off.” With help from the h3h3 team, he discovered that Bbtv had claimed $620,000 of revenue from Channel Memberships, even though those payments came from Google itself.
Klein reached out to Bbtv for clarification, and he claims that the network defined his Channel Membership sales as “Other Net Revenue,” which would entitle Bbtv to a 30% cut.

The exact cause of The Beatles’ break up has long been debated, but The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger isn’t often connected with the band’s demise. He didn’t cause their breakup by any means, but he did recommend Allen Klein as a manager for the group. The band’s appointment of Klein sparked such animosity and resentment that their collapse became inevitable.

Many of The Beatles’ fans were shocked and devastated when the band announced they were splitting up. However, behind the scenes, it was inevitable as tensions between the band members rose. While it’s hard to pinpoint the exact reason why The Beatles called it quits, there are a few songs that hint at their dissolution.
‘The Ballad of John and Yoko’ The Beatles | Mark and Colleen Hayward/Redferns
“The Ballad of John and Yoko” was a single released in 1969 that chronicled the events of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s wedding, along with their honeymoon activities that included the infamous “bed-in” peace protests. The track featured only Lennon and Paul McCartney. George Harrison and Ringo Starr didn’t skip the track out of spite but because it felt like a track specifically for Lennon.
While this song didn’t create turmoil within The Beatles, it was a sign that...

In 1970, nearly a year after John Lennon left the band, Paul McCartney announced that The Beatles were no longer collaborating. Not long after, McCartney filed a lawsuit against the band. He wanted to take control of the catalog from their manager, Allen Klein. The rest of his bandmates vehemently opposed him in this, but they eventually realized that he was right. Lennon admitted this on this day in 1973.

Kit Harington is set to return to HBO, but not for another “Game of Thrones” series. At least not yet.
The actor will recur in Season 3 of the critically acclaimed finance drama “Industry” as Henry Muck, the CEO and founder of Lumi, a promising green tech energy company about to go public. This marks his first role at the cable network since the end of “Game of Thrones” in 2019, amid talks of a potential sequel series based on his character Jon Snow.
A joint production between HBO and Bad Wolf for the BBC, “Industry” explores the inner workings of the high finance world through the eyes of a group of young bankers. As they juggle establishing their identities with the pressures and privileges of working at the London office of the international bank Pierpoint & Co., the bankers find that morality and good behavior is not always the path to success.

Fifty years ago, The Beatles released the Red and Blue Albums, officially titled 1962-1966 and 1967-1970. The anthologies came out on April 2, 1973, and became the foundation of the Beatles legend for the next few decades. Arguably the most influential greatest-hits albums in history. The gateway drug into the Beatles songbook for generations of fans. Their most crucial post-break-up albums, even if the Fab Four wanted nothing to do with them. The job change comes as Klein pushes forward with expansion plans for Svb, first in Santa Monica and later in New York City, with Doppelt on board to help navigate the two new outposts.

When an all-star cast of musicians came together to rehearse their salute to Joni Mitchell for a Washington, D.C. tribute concert in February, in honor of her being the latest annual recipient of the Gershwin Prize for songwriting, executive producer Ken Ehrlich had an early epiphany about where Marcus Mumford’s cover of “Carey” should go. “During the rehearsal, it was obvious to me: that was the opening number.”

Norman Steinberg, the Emmy-winning screenwriter who teamed with Mel Brooks on Blazing Saddles and My Favorite Year and wrote for the Michael Keaton-starring Mr. Mom and Johnny Dangerously, has died. He was 83.
Steinberg died March 15 at his Hudson Valley home in upstate New York, his family announced.
Steinberg also wrote Yes, Giorgio (1982), starring Italian opera star Luciano Pavarotti in his feature acting debut, and co-wrote Funny About Love (1990), directed by Leonard Nimoy and starring Gene Wilder and Christine Lahti.
The Brooklyn native and former lawyer won his Emmy very early in his career, for his work on a Flip Wilson variety show.
His TV résumé also included developing Marlo Thomas’ 1974 landmark kids special, Free to Be … You & Me (he brought Brooks in on that); serving as a writer and executive producer on the first two seasons of CBS’ Cosby; and creating the short-lived CBS sitcoms Doctor, Doctor and Teech.
