Rizzle Kicks have told Digital Spy that they believe Huey Morgan "thought it would be funny" to smash a mug during his infamous appearance on Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
The 'Skip to the Good Bit' duo were guest hosts when Morgan angrily stormed off set at the end of an episode broadcast earlier this month.
Speaking to us at a rehearsal for the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium yesterday (November 25), Rizzle Kicks claimed that the Fun Lovin' Criminals star simply made a misjudged attempt at humour after "drinking the whole way through the show", and quickly realised that he was acting "ridiculous".
"I think he was just a bit mashed up," Jordan told DS. "He'd been drinking the whole way through the show and I actually think he thought it would be funny, but then realised how ridiculous it was and then, well, you can't really come back from that.

Morgan appeared to see the funny side of the incident earlier, tweeting a comedy picture of a scared puppy in a mug.
Buzzcocks team captain Noel Fielding previously denied claims that the studio audience had supported Morgan, while panellist Laura Whitmore told Digital Spy that she is laughing off the controversy.

Morgan caused a stir with his appearance on the comedy music show this week (November 4), when he appeared disgruntled by guests hosts Rizzle Kicks, smashed a mug and ended the show by walking out of the studio.
The reason for the Fun Lovin' Criminals star's agitation on the show was never made clear, but the singer and 6 Music DJ appears to have now seen the funny side.
Yesterday, Buzzcocks team captain Noel Fielding joked: "The mug is in hospital but on the road to recovery. Let's order in some plastic beakers for next time.
"The mug is getting a new handle from a dead tea cup who was a donor.

Fun Lovin' Criminals and 6 Music DJ Huey Morgan storms off BBC Two quiz show Never Mind the Buzzcocks tonight after falling out with hosts Rizzle Kicks.
The singer started sulking after Rizzle Kicks used Fun Lovin' Criminals lyrics in the 'Next Lines' round of the competition, a standard practice on the comedy music show.
Watch the video of Huey Morgan's Buzzcocks strop:
Noticing that Morgan was unhappy, Rizzle Kicks asked: "Are you alright with that?"
Morgan replied: "I'm totally alright with that, I just thought you guys might do something different for a change."
The hip-hop duo reply: "It's part of the game Huey... It's next lines mate."
Growing increasingly frustrated, Morgan ends the game by smashing his mug on the desk, with pieces shattering across his desk near teammates Phill Jupitus and Laura Whitmore.
"Huey, it's the game bro, I say a line, you sing the other line.

Billy Corben is a bit of a badass in the documentary game. Through his Miami-based media studio Rakontur, he produces down-and-dirty docs on everything from college sports to cocaine. His latest, Limelight, chronicles the astronomic rise and fall of New York nightclub kingpin Peter Gatien. I really dug it, and you will too, so see it at New York's Landmark Sunshine Cinema while you still can.
I was an Nyu student, I graduated in 2008. I never lived in Palladium, but I had several friends who did. I remember hearing, "Oh, it used to be a night club," but the cultural significance was never really expressed to me. Do you think the university has tried to downplay the importance of the location?
Well, they do still call it The Palladium. It's just a Google away. I believe that was the venue, when Peter owned it, that was the site of Moby's first ever solo gig.

Pj Harvey has said that she didn't think it would be possible to win the Mercury Prize for a second time. The singer won the prestigious music award last night for her eighth studio album Let England Shake after first winning the prize ten years ago. Speaking to Fun Lovin' Criminals frontman Huey Morgan about her win, Harvey said: "I was surprised. I thought it was unlikely to win something twice, so I was very surprised, but really elated and really ecstatic that it's happened. "This record means so much to me, I think it's one of my best pieces of work. To have got to this point 20 years (more)...

Fun Lovin' Criminals frontman Huey Morgan has said that his band play for the people, rather than to them. The singer told Digital Spy that it is vital the people watching the group enjoy themselves during their live shows. Morgan said: "We've just got to play for the people. A lot of bands play to the people, we play for them. They pay the money to come and see us - we want them to have a good time. "That's paramount when we play live. Then secondary is that we all have a really good time playing." Morgan added that while he enjoyed seeing major acts (more)...

Fun Lovin' Criminals star Huey Morgan is set to add actor and author to his resume - he's landed a cameo role in British teen drama "Skins" and written a series of spy books. The rocker has already branched out into TV work by appearing on several panel shows in the U.K., and he also presents a radio programme on the BBC's 6 Music station.
Now he is trying out acting - he will play a record shop owner in the popular British TV series. He's also written several spy novels, a good-versus-evil screenplay, and a story about a Vietnam war veteran.
Morgan tells Britain's Seven Days magazine, "I'm going to be on 'Skins'. I'll play a guy who owns a heavy metal record store. It's a small cameo role. I've written a series of espionage novels. There's also a book that is probably going to be a screenplay. It's...

The star of Stephen Poliakoff's forthcoming Glorious 39 on his neuroses, playing educated toffs and why he digs David Hare
"A machiavellian dandy . . . Pure coldheartedness . . . Fabulously insincere." As I read out reviews of an old Bill Nighy performance, the actor grimaces and drums his knuckles on the table. "If ever a face was made for villainy, it's Bill Nighy's," I continue. "Wow," he murmurs. "Nighy's decadently long jaw and narrow, sneaky eyes serve him well . . ." He snorts, amused. "Sneaky eyes! Long decadent jaw! My God. I didn't know I had a decadent jaw."
Perhaps it is how Glorious 39 unfolds around him that makes you never quite trust Nighy as Alexander Keyes, a devoted father and aristocratic Conservative MP in Stephen Poliakoff's sumptuous new thriller about appeasement, set on the eve of the second world war. But perhaps Nighy has a singular talent for projecting unreliability into charming characters.
