Paramount+ premiered the werewolf horror series “Wolf Pack” back in January 2023, and TV Line reports tonight that the series has already been cancelled after just one season.
Sarah Michelle Gellar made her return to horror in the series.
TV Line reports, “Last summer’s dual Hollywood strikes were the final nail in Wolf Pack‘s coffin. According to sources, a potential second season would not have been ready for nearly two years after the conclusion of Season 1.”
“Wolf Pack,” written and produced by Jeff Davis, follows a teenage boy and girl whose lives are changed forever when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature and drives it to attack a highway traffic jam beneath the burning hills.
Wounded in the chaos, the boy and girl are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two other teenagers who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire.

In the NYPD Blue Season One episode “Tempest in a C-Cup,” cop Andy Sipowicz and prosecutor Sylvia Costas wind up on an impromptu dinner date. After he tells her about the aquarium of saltwater tropical fish he keeps in his apartment,...

We never know which films to cover since there are so many channels so please note that we welcome comments and requests for more in-depth coverage of new-to-streaming titles.
Okay, time for this month's streaming roulette. You know the rules. We highlight new-to-streaming movies and an occasional TV series by freezing them on the scroll bar at entirely random places and just sharing what pops up. No cheating*!
Okay, we're going to have a nice Calm talk like we discussed, right?
Love, Victor (Season 3) on Hulu
Sad this show is ending but also relieved since so few high school shows wrap up at their natural ending point (senior year) before they've overstayed their welcome. Have you started watching the final season yet? Ana Ortiz (who is completely Emmy worthy for season 2) and James Martinez as Victor's parents are both so terrific and not at all the afterthoughts parents so often are in teen soaps.

Will “Love, Victor” get love from the Emmys when nominations are announced on July 13? The television academy has often been biased against shows about teenagers and young adults, but the timing could be advantageous for the Hulu series, and it has 19 submissions on the Emmy ballots that it could turn into nominations or wins.
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Dawson’s Creek,” “Felicity,” “Gilmore Girls,” and “Veronica Mars” have showed how hard it can be for programs about young people to get the respect of Emmy voters. But there have been exceptions, like the Best Drama Actress nomination for “My So-Called Life” star Claire Danes, the Best Drama Series bid for “Joan of Arcadia,” and 2020’s Drama Actress victory for “Euphoria” star Zendaya.

Season 2 of Hulu’s comedy-drama series “Love, Victor” was recently released, giving fans another look into Victor’s life as he comes out as gay to his Catholic parents, further explores his queerness in a new relationship and possibly falls for another boy — all while navigating high school. And underscoring the show’s moving plot lines is a collection of original songs — most of which are from queer artists — that brilliantly soundtrack each heart-fluttering hand hold, emotional confession and rousing climax throughout the season.
Inspired by and set in the same world as the beloved movie “Love, Simon,” “Love, Victor” follows Michael Cimino as Victor, a half Puerto Rican, half Colombian American teen who is piecing together his identity as he juggles family, friendships and romantic interests.
George Sear stars as Victor’s main love interest, Benji, alongside Rachel Hilson, Anthony Turpel, Bebe Wood, Mason Gooding, Isabella Ferreira, Ana Ortiz and James Martinez.

[Editor’s note: The following article contains minor spoilers for the Hulu series “Love, Victor.”]
It’s an uncomfortable but inevitable truth of the LGBTQ civil rights movement that white gay men have always come first, even as others were doing the work. From being the face of same sex marriage to most screen representations, cute white boys are always the first to the table. So when “Love, Simon” premiered in 2018, becoming the first major Hollywood movie to center a gay teen coming out, it made sense that it was cutie pie Nick Robinson who got the part. While he was extremely charming in the role, Robinson is smart to take a backseat as executive producer on “Love, Victor,” the adorable Hulu series based in the same universe as “Love, Simon.”
Based on Becky Albertalli’s 2015 young adult novel “Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda,” “Love, Simon” follows a closeted high schooler’s secret email romance with a mystery classmate. It...

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
The king of the networks easily remains in charge despite "Elementary" being their only fresh hit of last season's new shows. The network's line-up remains fairly stable with only a few key moves such as Thursday being expanded to include two hours of comedy programming, and "Hawaii Five-0" moving to Fridays.
Several other pilots didn't make the cut this week including the series sequel to the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies, a TV version of the comedy "Bad Teacher", the "NCIS" mobile spin-off "NCIS: Red," a procedural based on Leif G.W. Persson's literary homicide detective Everett Backstrom, the Frank Marshall-produced political thriller "The Ordained" about a priest turned lawyer trying to save his sister from assassination,...

It has been about a year now since CSI fans said good-bye to actress Marg Helgenberger after 12 seasons as a principal actress on the long-running crime investigation series. If you thought retirement from acting was in the cards for Helgenberger, then think again! The actress is going back to work for the CBS network. She will star, in fact, in their new pilot, which called Intelligence.
Intelligence is a drama pilot, which is also in the crime milieu. From ABC Studios and CBS Studios, the plot follows an elite unit at U.S. Cyber Command and especially highlights one agent who has what Deadline calls “a very special gift”. He has a tiny microchip inside his brain, which allows him to “access the entire electromagnetic spectrum”.
I’ve got to be honest, I’m not sure what access to the electromagnetic spectrum allows, but I’m pretty sure it will be very sweet.

Whenever we write about the best shows on TV we always make sure to mention Breaking Bad, AMC's remarkable show about a high school chemistry teacher turned meth cooker/dealer. In fact, I love the show so much that every time I'm at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, I corner Vince Gilligan, the show's creator and ask him when Bb might finally have a gay character.
On Sunday night's episode we got that character. Maybe. Or maybe not. It depends on how you interpret it.
The character in question is Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), the brains behind the drug operation for which Walt White (Bryan Cranston) does all of the meth cooking.
In this flashback scene, we see Gus years before he became the cold, calculating, utterly ruthless man we know from the show. Indeed, the scene seems intended to show us just why Gus is so hard.

Good things come to those who wait and for those who feel as though they've suffered through a year of largely uninspired films up to now will likely breathe a sigh of relief at the sound of names like Darren Aronofsky, Sofia Coppola and Peter Weir. 'Tis the season for Jim Carrey to take a pay cut to star in a gay romance like "I Love You Phillip Morris" or Javier Bardem is whispering sweet nothings to spirits in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarittu's "Biutiful" rather than Julia Roberts.

Pay-for-view channel Starz has announced that Gravity won't be back for a second year. The show completed its run last week after just 10 episodes.

Starz had high hopes for the series but it just never caught on. The season (now series) finale attracted an invisible 0.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 54,000 viewers. To no surprise, Starz has admitted that neither Gravity nor Party Down will be returning for another round.

Cinematical has just received a very intriguing new trailer for Brad Coley's The Undeserved, a drama that will be available 'on demand' via various cable systems starting on August 12.
The film snuck under my radar when it traveled the film festival circuit (Mill Valley, Denver, Ashland, Nantucket) a while back, but Dennis Harvey of Variety described it as "a somewhat overloaded yet impressive feature debut by writer-helmer Brad Coley that's a sufficiently edgy update of 'Peyton Place'-style ensemble melodramatics." Coley spent three months on location, according to the film's official site, "shooting in sequence without a pre-written script, and developing his story with his cast through an organic process of character immersion."
The story involves a murder mystery, so, naturally enough, the characters all harbor deep secrets. Science prodigy Charlie (James Martinez) wins a scholarship, but his girlfriend Joy (Autumn Dornfield) disappears after dropping out from the alternative high school they both attend.
