Michael J. Pollard was in his late 20s when he played the tattooed half-wit, C.W. Moss -- who goes from a gas station attendant to a criminal accomplice -- in the classic 1967 biographical film "Bonnie and Clyde." Michael J. Polland was part of a star-studded cast for the flick with Warren Beatty as Clyde Barrow, Faye Dunaway as Bonnie Parker, Estelle Parsons as Blanche and Gene Hackman as Buck Barrow. Pollard's performance was so strong amongst the A-list roster,...

A Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson pairing is definitely welcome, and with The Highwaymen they have excellent material at the disposal. The project, directed by John Lee Hancock, centers the capture of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow by former Texas Rangers Frank Hamer (Costner) and Maney Gault (Harrelson). Arthur Penn’s [...]

Check out The Highwaymen trailer, a new crime drama with Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson as the men who got Bonnie and Clyde.
When Bonnie & Clyde got big—the 1967 movie, not the 1930s outlaws—there was a taste for rebellion and defiance in pop culture. A forerunner of the decade’s other counterculture hits like The Graduate and Easy Rider, that film took the romanticized bandits of the Depression and further romanticized them for the decade of Vietnam and civil rights strife. Yet with all that romance, the fact they were actually murderers often gets lost in the narrative. John Lee Hancock’s The Highwaymen looks to fire back at that cinema mythology.
An apparent hard-hitting crime drama told from the perspective of the Texas Rangers who took Bonnie and Clyde out in a blaze of glory, The Highwaymen is one of the most intriguing high-profile efforts...

Bonnie & Clyde aficionados will have a field day with Netflix’s upcoming The Highwaymen, a new take on the notorious Depression-era killers that chronicles the much-examined crime spree from the perspective of the lawmen who hunted down the bank-robbing lovers.
Today Netflix released the first trailer for director John Lee Hancock’s film – which stars Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson – and the filmmaker’s approach is an interesting one: As new crime-busting techniques are changing the face of law enforcement, courtesy of the fledgling FBI and technological advances like airplane surveillance, the hunt for Bonnie & Clyde is spearheaded by a couple old-fashioned “cowboys,” in the words of Texas governor Ma Ferguson (Kathy Bates).
Actually, those cowboys are the former Texas Rangers Frank Hamer (Costner) and Maney Gault (Harrelson). Hamer was played in the 1967 classic Bonnie and Clyde by Denver Pyle with a decidedly villainous sneer.

The timeless, true-story tale of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow is one Hollywood is all-too-familiar with. Of course, Arthur Penn’s landmark 1967 game-changer, “Bonnie and Clyde,” announced a new era for cinema, one free from the restraints of censoring and pushing the boundaries of violence, profanity and sex on the screen. While the depicted story has never been cinematically matched, the young-lovers-on-a-killing-spree spurred derivatives ranging from Terrence Malick’s “Badlands” to Oliver Stone’s “Natural Born Killers.” Like any salacious true-crime news story, this saga is consistently consumed by the general public, but the perspective has mostly been limited to the criminals themselves, and not the crime fighters who brought them down.
