Jonathan Majors’ Kang was supposed to be the big antagonist in the upcoming Avengers films and the climactic antagonist for the ‘Multiversal Saga’ of the MCU. However, the actor was dropped from future Marvel projects due to his legal troubles and eventual sentencing after being accused of assault.
The actor made his MCU debut with the Disney Plus series Loki, where he was introduced as He Who Remains, the protector of the Sacred Timeline. He also made an appearance in the box office disaster Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and was regarded as the best part of the film. Majors had mentioned his technique to get into character, which included a curated playlist that got the energy of the role right.

Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 was supposedly going to turn it all around for the superhero universe. After a failed attempt with Phase 4, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was a promising candidate when it came to reviving the MCU. Starring Paul Rudd, Jonathan Majors, and Kathryn Newton, the film unfortunately failed to live up to the fans’ expectations.

In a recent interview, Kathryn Newton revealed that filming for Ant-Man 3 was the easiest job of her life. Looking at the response her comments have received, it is clear that fans are still upset about the awful sequel, especially her performance, and are not going to let her live it down.

Aaron Morten is one such face that the audience familiarized through the series. The actor plays the role of Maximus, an ally to Ella Purnell’s Lucy, in the series. Of all the Marvel Studios movies coming up, the ‘Avengers’ series is the big one everyone’s buzzing about. With two new ‘Avengers’ flicks on the way, the fifth installment has had its fair share of drama lately.
Majors got the boot in December due to assault charges from his ex, and now, things are up in the air. The movie’s name switched from ‘Kang Dynasty’ to ‘Avenger 5,’ and we’re not even sure if Kang’s still the bad guy.
Jeff Sneider dropped some new info, or maybe just rumors, on us. On his latest Hot Mic show, he said the studio’s hunting for a fresh director who’s never directed a Marvel flick before, showing they’re considering all options. He also says his sources claim that the movie’s set to kick off filming early next year.

Out of all the movies on Marvel Studios’ release schedule, the ‘Avengers’ franchise is undoubtedly the most exciting one. We know that two new ‘Avengers’ movies are in development, and when it comes to the fifth installment in the franchise, we’ve been through a lot in the last few months.
Majors’ was fired back in December after being found guilty of third-degree assault against his former girlfriend, and since then, the direction of the movie is confusing, to say the least. The movie internally changed its name from ‘Kang Dynasty’ to ‘Avenger 5,’ and we can’t even be sure that Kang is the main villain still.
Now Jeff Sneider has a round of news, or rather rumors, for us. In his latest appearance on the Hot Mic, Sneider claimed that the studio is looking for a new director that never directed a Marvel movie before, meaning they are open...

2023 may yet be remembered as the year the superhero movie died. Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" was released in February 2023 and was the first notable comic book-based bomb of the year. The film was notoriously re-jiggered throughout its production, with massive and expensive SFX being finalized up to the last minute. The official budget ballooned to $200 million, although separate reports have pegged the price tag as being closer to that of Disney's notorious box office misfire "John Carter" (which cost $263 million to make). "Quantumania" still grossed $464 million, but that's considered low for a Marvel movie.
Throughout 2023, more bombs dropped as superhero movies either lost money or were considered disappointments. "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," "The Flash," "Blue Beetle," "The Marvels," and "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" all tanked, and while many went to see "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3," it felt like the last kick in a closing series.

It has been a lucky 13 years since Tom Hiddleston first played Loki, the God of Mischief in the film “Thor.” He returned to the role recently for season two of the TV series “Loki.” This Disney+ show provided a beautiful end (we’ll see) to the character’s epic arc.
The sophomore outing of the series seee Loki trying to save the universe with the help of Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Mobius (Owen Wilson), and Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan). Kang (Jonathan Majors) is once again at the center of the trouble. The series is fantastical and is held together by the superb performance of Hiddleston. Once again, this classically trained actor brings Shakespearean authority to the role. He is also able to infuse increasing vulnerability to the former villain, making Loki one of the best characters in MCU history. Critics agree, “Loki” is the Tom Hiddleston show.

Michael Douglas begged for a "serious" death in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania'.The 79-year-old actor admitted last year he would only return for a fourth movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise if his alter ego Hank Pym was to be killed off, and he's now revealed he actually asked for a special effects-laden demise in last year's installment, which was a box office flop.Speaking on 'The View', he said: “[Getting killed off] actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas said. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. "There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects."And while Michael didn't get his wish, he's unlikely to return as Hank - who also had a brief appearance in 'Avengers: Endgame...

“Loki” could conjure up a Best Drama Series nomination this year and give Disney and Marvel representation at this year’s Emmys. The second season of “Loki” continues the journey of Tom Hiddleston‘s titular former villain as he attempts to save the multiverse. Loki traverses the multiverse with the help of Owen Wilson‘s Mobius, Ke Huy Quan‘s Ouroboros, Sophia Di Martino‘s Sylvie, and Wunmi Mosaku‘s Hunter B-15. They are hoping to repair the damage caused to the multiverse during the events of the first season, with Kang (Jonathan Majors) again at the center of the trouble.

MCU has quite a lot of projects to release in 2024, 2025, and beyond. We know that there are several movies being worked on currently and affected by the strikes, but none of them are as anticipated as ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ which are expected to continue MCU’s tradition of majestic crossovers.
Although next to nothing was known about the projects, we do know that Kang the Conqueror was expected to take over from Thanos as the main villain of the Multiverse Saga; however, soon after the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ it became clear that the audience did not react to the new villain accordingly. Jonathan Majors, who was playing Kang and all of his variants, also got into some legal troubles and was promptly fired.
Following this turn of events, various theories started developing, that following Majors’ dismissal the “true” villain of the MCU would be revealed in ‘Secret Wars.

The MCU has a lineup of projects scheduled for release in 2024, 2025, and beyond. Among them, ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ stand out as highly anticipated, continuing the tradition of grand crossovers in the MCU.
While details about these projects remain scarce, it was expected that Kang the Conqueror would replace Thanos as the primary antagonist in the Multiverse Saga. However, following the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ it became evident that audience reception to the new villain was not as expected. Additionally, Jonathan Majors, who portrayed Kang and his variants, encountered legal issues and was subsequently dismissed from the role.

There won’t be much by way of Marvel this year with Deadpool & Wolverine being their only significant release. Additionally, the company is seeking to rebound from a year of poorly received works like The Marvels and Secret Invasion, plus their shocking overhaul of Daredevil: Born Again, as well as their rising star Jonathan Majors getting released from his role as Kang amid his legal controversy. While Kevin Feige was able to showcase some “f*cking amazing” footage of Deadpool & Wolverine at CinemaCon this year, Marvel’s only other big bit of news in recent months came in the shape of The Fantastic Four.

Disney has confirmed that Korean webtoon-to-screen adaptation “Low Life” is poised to begin production.
When valuable treasure is discovered off the coast of Korea, the country’s biggest degenerates come crawling out of the woodwork in the hope of striking it big. Word spreads after a fisherman got lucky and kept a piece of the booty for himself. Among those tempted to brave the depths of the ocean are two members of a fractious and disunited crime family – notably an uncle who both looked after his nephew and led him astray.
The original story was a webtoon written by Yoon Tae-ho and first published by Kakao between 2014 and 2015. The literal translation of the Korean title is ‘country bumpkin.’ The story itself was inspired by a real-life event when a 14th century Chinese ship was found in 1975 off the coast of Shinan, South Korea.

He was facing up to 12 months in jail, but on Monday, a judge instead ordered him to complete a year-long, in-person domestic violence intervention program. After Jonathan Majors was accused of domestic violence by his ex-girlfriend, it was as though his career at Marvel was on a steady decline even though nothing had been announced by that point. Fans knew that he would not be sticking around for long before, the franchise even announced him being fired as Kang.

Jonathan Majors, who played Kang the Conquerer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been sentenced to a 52-week “Domestic Violence Intervention Program” according to reports.
Majors has been ordered to participate in the 52-week in-person domestic violence intervention program following his conviction for reckless assault in the third degree and harassment in December.
The charges, classified as a misdemeanor and a violation, carried a potential sentence of up to one year in prison. Prosecutors sought domestic violence programming as part of the sentence, with a six-month jail alternative should Majors fail to complete the program. Additionally, a full order of protection for Grace Jabbari, the victim, was granted.
The 52-week program is slated to take place in Los Angeles, and the court has mandated that Majors continue mental health counseling and therapy, providing regular updates to the court on his treatment progress.

This SXSW round-up is a bit like our living (and growing) scrapbook from this year’s big event. We’ll continue to update the article as more video interviews and entries become available.
The SXSW festival has changed and changed again in its 35-plus years. Originally begun as “just” a music festival, the event has become an intersection that’s ever expanding. Bringing in the best of film, television, gaming, and even the cutting edge of technology, it is sometimes hard to quantify what isn’t SXSW these days. Even the Film Festival is now the Film & TV Festival. Still, Den of Geek tried to cover it all, so here’s a look at all the exciting projects we got an early glimpse at in our studio.

The multiversal saga has been a mixed bag for the MCU so far. And with Jonathan Majors being let go, it can’t be said for certain what the future holds for this chapter, which was being built around the character of Kang. However, it seems Marvel might not be shifting away from the Conqueror just yet, as new rumors suggest Kang might play a major part in the potential Doctor Strange 3.
While things have been quiet on the MCU’s part on Doctor Strange 3, per new rumors, the threequel will see Charlize Theron’s Clea teaming up with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Strange.

Kang the Conqueror was positioned to be the next great villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the same way Thanos was for the Infinity Saga. However, in the wake of Jonathan Majors getting fired, the idea has been up in the air, as fans try to speculate who would be the next villain in the MCU.

While a slew of fans want Majors replaced, and another section of the fandom wants a new villain to take over from Kang altogether, a theory has come out to put Ravonna Renslayer at the center of this conversation, pushing for her to become the next big bad in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ was released out nearly two years ago, marking the character’s latest appearance in the MCU with some serious consequences. While an alternate version of Strange surfaced in ‘What If…?’ Season 3, it met a tragic end, making it unlikely we’ll encounter this variant in future releases.
Although ‘Doctor Strange 3’ hasn’t been formally confirmed by Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige hinted at ample space in the release schedule for Phase 6 projects during the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. However, recent shifts in the MCU’s direction raise doubts about this. Facing substantial box office setbacks, the MCU seems inclined to stick with proven formulas, leading to rumors of increased emphasis on animated projects and street-level narratives as they navigate the complexities of the Multiverse.
Now, Alex Perez, a well-known insider and leaker, has shared insights into Strange’s character development in the upcoming movies and hinted at potential plot twists.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is one of the highlights of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, being a character with a major following in the fandom. However, as of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the character was unceremoniously turned into a villain, and as far as the MCU is concerned, killed.

Have you ever wished that your favorite fictional character could actually exist and save the day? Well, for actor Alex Pettyfer, that wish seems to have been granted when his co-star, Henry Cavill, famously known as Superman, prevented him from “falling off a boat”. This near-death incident occurred on the set of their next film, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which will hit theaters next month.
Although Cavill is sadly no longer DC’s Man of Steel due to James Gunn’s takeover, it appears that the British actor, 40, has adopted Superman’s valiant traits in real life. The upcoming Guy Ritchie film, based on Damien Lewis’s book of the same name, chronicles the experiences of the British organization (Special Operations Executive) during World War II.

Phase 4 marked the start of the Multiversal Saga, aiming to highlight the significant threat posed by Kang the Conqueror and impart lessons to the Avengers about the risks of meddling with time and universes. ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ delved into this theme within the Quantum realm, which gained further importance in ‘Loki’ Season 2.
However, with ‘Ant-Man’ failing to meet expectations and Jonathan Majors facing backlash due to the assault verdict, speculation suggests that the MCU will pivot towards a different villain and more grounded narratives.
According to Alex Perez, a well-known scooper and leaker, Marvel is still figuring out how to handle the Multiverse. We can anticipate more street-level stories, except for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ as disclosed during the Discord Q&a session.
Right now, Marvel is reassessing how to handle the Multiverse, which is why they’re focusing on street-level stories for the time being, with the sole exception of Deadpool & Wolverine.
