Netflix has renewed “The Umbrella Academy” for a fourth and final season, the streamer said Thursday. Writer, showrunner, director, and executive producer Steve Blackman isn’t going anywhere, though: he’ll write and produce new series and “other projects” at Netflix under his newly established Irish Cowboy production banner, the company said, and is currently developing video-game adaptation “Horizon Zero Dawn” and original concept “Orbital.”
“I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago,” Blackman said in a statement shared with media on Thursday. “But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.”

It is raining cash on “The Umbrella Academy” cast.
Variety has learned from sources that the majority of the show’s core cast — Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min — has netted a substantial pay raise going into the hit Netflix-UCP show’s third season.
According to multiple sources, the six actors banded together ahead of the season to ask for a pay raise, with each of them now earning more than $200,000 per episode. According to a person familiar with the series, fellow cast member Elliot Page also received a raise but was not directly involved in the group’s renegotiation. Page came into the series earning a higher rate as he was the most established star at the outset. Page was said to be supportive of the group’s effort, however.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 Unveils Cast For Sparrow Academy Which Includes… A Telekinetic Cube?
The end of the second season of The Umbrella Academy left us with the introduction of an alternate 2019 which included a very much alive Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) and someone who seemed to be Ben (Justin H. Netflix dropped the trailer for “The Umbrella Academy” Season 2 on Wednesday, proving that Five (Aidan Gallagher) was right — as per usual — and messing with time travel to save Vanya (Ellen Page) in 2019 was a bad, bad idea.
This bad idea has landed each of the Hargreeves kids in a different point in time in the 1960s in Dallas, Texas, and at first they aren’t even aware if their siblings survived. But once they do find each other, Five informs them that they must get back to the future to stop yet another apocalypse. Great.
The trailer is set to “Here Comes The End,” an original song from Gerard Way, the My Chemical Romance frontman who wrote the “Umbrella Academy” comic book series and is a co-executive producer on the Netflix drama.

Sources confirmed Variety’s report to IndieWire.
It’s unknown just how dark the series will go — Gaffigan is largely known as a clean comedian — but there’s no shortage of astounding details in Ford’s political career for its writers to work with. Ford began courting political controversy early in his career as a city councilor due to his variety of bizarre remarks, which ranged...

Jim Gaffigan is set to play the scandal-ridden former mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, in a limited series in the works at AMC.
The project, written by “The Sinner” and “Letterkenny” alum Jesse McKeown, will center on Ford’s rise and fall in politics, beginning with his tenure as a member of the Toronto City Council through the drug abuse scandal that derailed his one term as mayor.
Ed Helms and Mike Falbo of Pacific Electric Picture Co. will executive produce the potential series, with Michael Dowse attached to direct and executive produce.

Jim Gaffigan is preparing to play former Toronto mayor Rob Ford in a scripted series currently in the works at AMC, Variety has learned exclusively.
Jesse McKeown will write and executive produce, with Ed Helms and Mike Falbo executive producing under their Pacific Electric Picture Co. banner. Michael Dowse will executive produce and direct.
The dark comedy series would detail the rise and fall of the controversial Ford, who served as the mayor of Toronto from 2010 to 2014 after many years as a city councilor. He was infamously caught on video smoking crack cocaine during his reelection campaign and was known to suffer from other substance abuse issues.
Should the project move forward it would not be the first onscreen depiction of Ford. Damian Lewis played Ford in the film “Run This Town,” which debuted at SXSW last year.

Canada's Movie Central and The Movie Network today announced that they have given the greenlight to a four-hour mini-series adaptation of the long-running superhero 'The Phantom'. The series will be a co-production with Sci Fi Channel (soon to be renamed Syfy). It will debut on Movie Central and The Movie Network in spring 2010.
The Phantom was created by Lee Falk and first appeared in 1936 as a newspaper strip. Since then a character with that name has appeared in comic books by numerous publishers throughout the world. The Phantom has also starred in animated and live-action screen adaptations. The latter include a 1940s movie serial, a 1996 theatrical film and a 1961 TV pilot. Another feature film adaptation, The Phantom: Legacy, is also in the works. Speaking to Moviehole, screenwriter Tim Boyle said that the movie is still at the scripting stage and he believes it will go into pre-production...
