There are seven acting categories for TV dramas at the Daytime Emmys, and when you look at the pre-nominations they could all go to a past Emmy champ … except for one. Best Younger Actor is the only field this year where every single contender would be a first-time winner. Most of them would even be first-time nominees. So who will win this wide-open contest?
Last year’s winner, Rome Flynn (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), left his show in 2017, so he’s out. Also absent from the list is the actor we thought would win last year, Casey Moss (“Days of Our Lives”), even though he is still on the show and still of age. Ditto child actor Hudson West (“General Hospital”), who isn’t on the pre-nominations list either despite still being featured on his series.

According to the folks over at soapcentral, we’re about to see yet another main guy leave CBS’ hit soap opera show “The Bold And The Beautiful.” It turns out that actor Pierson Fode (above) who plays Thomas Forrester has decided to step down from the role after portraying it for the past three years! As usual, Soap Opera Digest got the big interview with him to get a statement about his departure. He said this was one of the hardest decisions that he’s ever had to make. Apparently, he got some other big acting opportunities that just won’t allow him to keep filming ‘The Bold And The Beautiful” at the same time. He explained to them, “I’ll tell you what. As far as my time goes in Los Angeles, this has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve made. I’ve invested two-and-a-half years of my life into this.

It's time for that annual exercise in hopelessness, pointlessness and foolishness — predicting the Daytime Emmys! I mean, seriously, why do we bother? You can think you have good taste and know award-worthy talent when you see it. You can spend hours upon hours reviewing the reels that each of the nominees has submitted to the judges. And then it can all blow up in your face with three little words: Drew Tyler Bell. Yes, my little soap peeps, anyone can win at the Daytime Emmys (which air Sunday at 8/7c, on CBS). Anyone. So, with that in mind, here we go...

We won't know the ratings for Sunday's CBS airing of the Daytime Emmys till Monday afternoon. However, many of our forum posters watched, and their comments on the kudocast number almost 600 so far. Many of these were slams against the show for being a two-hour plug for Las Vegas rather than a celebration of the best of daytime TV. While they thought the tribute to TV legend Dick Clark was heartfelt, many of our posters found it out of place at these kudos. Including this musical serenade as well as several Vegas stage acts left little time in the telecast for a salute to daytime drama "As the World Turns," which is leaving the airwaves after 53 years. " 'The Lion King' performance was longer than 'Atwt's' tribute," fumed our poster BamaEd. "Plus the cast didn't get to go on stage? Shameful!" Our forum posters follow the Daytime Emmy Awards with devotion.

HollywoodNews.com: I’ll have red carpet coverage galore from the 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards later today and lots and lots of bits of news that I picked up from here and there.
Chatted up just about everyone I really wanted to including Susan Lucci, Bonnie Hunt, Tuc Watkins, Michael Muhney, Jon Hensley, Eden Reigel, Brandon Beemer, Mark Hapka, Shawn Christian, Carolyn Hennesey, Doug Davidson, Drew Tyler Bell, Zach Conroy and Austin Peck, among many others.
But first let’s tell you who won what and share some of the backstage dish and the photos I snapped.
While there is debate about the quality of the telecast itself (Dick Clark tribute too long, As the World Turns Tribute too short etc), I must say that it was a dream backstage where everyone was in a good mood, the food they served us was delish, and the WiFi was nice and speedy!

Although it is facing cancellation after 53 years on TV, "As the World Turns" stole the spotlight at this year's Daytime Emmy Awards. On Sunday, June 27 at the Las Vegas Hilton, the soap opera, which airs each weekday on CBS and will end its run in September, has won trophies for three of its stars, Michael Park, Maura West and Julie Pinson.
Michael won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Maura nabbed the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Julie secured the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Upon accepting his award, tearful Michael in particular thanked his on-screen romance Maura and bid an emotional farewell to the show.

Talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres was among the winners at the Daytime Emmy Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The comedienne was handed the trophy for Outstanding Talk Show: Entertainment at the ceremony for The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
But it was a disappointing night for General Hospital, the soap opera which James Franco joined for a brief stint last year, the show only landed two prizes despite scoring a massive 18 nominations.
Julie Berman was named Best Younger Actress in a Drama Series and the soap also won Best Drama Series Directing Team.
Meanwhile, soon-to-be-scrapped As The World Turns landed three awards.
The show picked up Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Maura West), Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Michael Park) and Top Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Julie Pinson).
Other winners at the Las Vegas Hilton included The Bold & The Beautiful, which landed Best Drama Series and Drama Series Writing Team, while the show's star Drew Tyler Bell, picked up Best Younger Actor in a Drama Series.
Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series was handed to Billy Miller for The Young and The Restless, while quiz show Cash Cab won two awards for Best Game Show and Game Show Host.

It was an emotional evening as the 37th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards recognized those in television, honoring Dick Clark for his work on "American Bandstand," and Marie Osmond making one of her first TV appearances since the tragic death of her son. Ryan Seacrest headed up Clark's tribute as friends and those who got their start on "American Bandstand" performed and shared their stories about the TV legend. Dressed in a stunning floor-length gown, Osmond took to the Daytime Emmy stage solo, singing "Paper Roses" in honor of Clark. Following the tribute, Clark broke down in tears, crying in his seat. It was a fond farewell to the long running soap opera "As the World Turns" at the Daytime Emmy Awards. In addition to the tribute, "As the World Turns" star Julie Penson won the first award of the evening for Best Supporting Actress. Michael Park won for his...

Though ABC Family has cancelled The Middleman after a single season on the air, the adventures aren't over just yet.
The Middleman follows a straight-shooter hero (Matt Keeslar), his newbie assistant Wendy (Natalie Morales), and their fantastic adventures together. Other characters are played by Brit Morgan, Mary Pat Gleason, Jake Smollett, Brendan Hines, Drew Tyler Bell and Sean Davis.
Based on a comic book from Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Les McClaine, the TV show aired from June 16th to September 1st, 2008 on ABC Family. As creative as the series content is, the ratings weren't all that fantastic. Due to costs, a planned 13th episode wasn't shot and some of the money was funneled into episode 12.
With mediocre ratings, it was suspected that the series wouldn't be coming back for season two. Last month, ABC Family made it official and announced that the series had indeed been cancelled. Though many viewers are...

We've suspected it for awhile but the cancellation's now official. ABC Family's freshman series, The Middleman, won't be back for a second year. As a network spokesperson tells PopWrap, "ABC Family has decided not to renew the series for a second season." Fortunately for fans, the story's not over just yet. The characters are returning to their roots.
Based on comics by Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Les McClaine, The Middleman centers around a young artist, Wendy (Natalie Morales), who is struggling financially. She lives with her best friend (Brit Morgan) and works temp jobs. While working at a lab, science experiment goes wrong and she's saved by The Middleman (Matt Keeslar). The handsome hero recruits her as his assistant to fight outrageous villains, along with his annoying robot helper, Ida (Mary Pat Gleason). Other characters are played by Jake Smollett, Brendan Hines, Drew Tyler Bell and Sean Davis.
Middleman debuted on June 16, 2008 on ABC Family.

Manager-producers Matt Luber, Lena Roklin and Larry Schapiro have joined forces to form the full-service management and production firm Luber Roklin Entertainment.
Luber and Schapiro were partners in Nine Yards Entertainment, while Roklin headed Roklin Management. The trio are partners in the new entity, with Luber and Roklin serving as co-heads. Schapiro is serving as COO and running the production division and record label.
Luber Roklin's client roster includes Paul Walker, Jaime Pressly, Adam Goldberg, Neal McDonough, Lauren Holly, Lindsay Price, Jenna Dewan, Billy Zane, Kevin Sorbo, Drew Tyler Bell and Joss Stone; directors Fred Durst, Scott Glosserman and Walt Becker; and writers Arthur Marcum and Matt Holloway, David Digilio and Zac Stanford.
Managers at the company include Alex Cole, Katie Mason, Tim Taylor and Mara Santino. Steve Crawford heads the literary department and is involved on the production side as well.
Luber and Roklin said the move to team up made sense.
"We had a desire to infuse new energy into the talent department, and there was no one better than Lena who could mesh well as a partner and complement everyone's skill set," said Luber, who also has been an executive producer on "Evan Almighty", "Into the Blue" and "Running Scared".
Added Roklin: "The business has changed, and you have to be more creative.
