Welcome to this review of WWE’s latest pay-per-view/premium live event, Backlash, which this year emanates from France. We’ve got five matches on the card so let’s get into it.
Match #1: Street Fight – Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga def. Randy Orton & Kevin Owens The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Before the match could even begin, all four Superstars engaged in a massive melee with WWE officials, including SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who was attempting to break up the brawl. A fed up Aldis decided to forgo the original tag team rules, turning the bout into a Street Fight. The chaos only heightened with the introduction of weapons including Kendo sticks, trash cans, tables and even the Prime hydration station being used as instruments of destruction. Both teams traded blows with Owens splashing Tonga through a table while Sikoa nearly simultaneously put Orton through a table with a Samoan Drop.

WrestleMania 40’s night two in Philadelphia was a spectacle of high-octane wrestling that lived up to the grandeur expected of such a storied event. The evening was headlined by a gripping match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, where Rhodes sought redemption and the chance to “finish his story” and of course the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. The “Bloodline Rules” stipulation added an intense layer of drama, with Rhodes overcoming the odds to dethrone Reigns in a stunning upset that had the Lincoln Financial Field erupting in cheers.
It was no surprise that during the match both Reigns and Rhodes has some assistance during their match from the likes of Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, The Rock, John Cena and none other than The Undertaker making brief cameo appearances.

WrestleMania 40 is nearly here, and the milestone event is looking to live up to its “Xl” billing. Across two nights, WWE’s biggest stars will compete for glory, championships, and, perhaps, the honor of participating in one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history. English quartet Glass Animals are back to announce their fourth album, I Love You So F***ing Much, and shared the LP’s lead single, “Creatures in Heaven.” Update: Glass Animals have announced a 2024 world tour.
Due out July 19th, I Love You So F***ing Much is Glass Animals’ follow up to 2020’s Dreamland, which gave the band their first #1 hit in the US with “Heat Waves.” The new album, then, was born from the chaos of supporting a record during the pandemic and finding newfound success within the band. With a muscular physique and a six-foot build, Jade Cargill is sure to make a Greek statue feel jealous, with white hair, she is often called X-Men’s Storm. Moreover, the confidence she displays while standing in the ring and going against the biggest stars makes her a force to be reckoned with. Needless, to say she has captured the attention of the wrestling fans each time she steps foot in the ring.
Jade Cargill during her WWE SmackDown promo
In today’s segment of WWE SmackDown, The Storm finally made her much-anticipated debut. However, following her short and striking promo, she went against the Damage Control, where she singlehandedly destroyed them. While she took them out effortlessly, she made a silly mistake that could have potentially ruined her debut, until she rescued the situation like a boss.

Match #1: Legado del Fantasma def. The Lwo The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Angel and Berto are one step closer to realizing their WrestleMania dreams as they defeated Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro in a WrestleMania Xl Tag Team Championship Qualifying Match. Angel and Berto brought the fight right to The Lwo, including throwing Del Toro off the top rope in exhilarating fashion. Del Toro fought hard and tagged in the high-flying Wilde, a move that turned the tide for a short time. Legado del Fantasma were able to isolate Wilde in the ring before hitting him with a stunning press slam into a kick right to the stomach, winning them the match.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Randy Orton def.

Dwayne Johnson has been getting all the major spotlight in WWE. He is the ultimate main event, even rising above the Universal champion and his cousin Roman Reigns, in terms of reception. His WWE return has certainly shattered the dreams of many WWE superstars to have their slots in main events.

Johnson’s return is important on several grounds. He is not just a superstar but splendidly adheres to the authority figure as he became the board member of Tko Holdings. But in this mix, two female main-event stars might suffer as The Rock might steal WrestleMania 40, making it his own show.

Welcome to this review of WWE’s Elimination Chamber Pay Per View, right here on Nerdly. In a change to the typical show, this year’s PPV emanated from Perth in Australia… We’ve got a huge card filled with matches that will directly affect this year’s Wrestlemania; so let’s get into it!
Match #1: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – The Kabuki Warriors def. Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Competing in her home country, Indi Hartwell needed to calm her nerves in an incredible atmosphere in Perth, Western Australia. Although Damage Ctrl recently ejected Bayley from its ranks, Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors were primed to go it alone against Hartwell and Candice LeRae, former Nxt Women’s Tag Team Champions. Asuka and Kairi Sane stuck with their apparent game plan of isolating LeRae from Hartwell, drawing the ire from the Australian faithful.

The WWE 2K24 roster is getting a fan-favorite character added in the form of Bray Wyatt’s The Fiend. Windham Lawrence Rotunda, known by his ring name, Bray Wyatt, sadly passed away on the 24th of August last year, aged just 36, after suffering a heart attack. By the time of his passing, he had already become a fan-favorite wrestler and a common name in WWE.
Wyatt introduced his new, horror-themed character in the ring titled The Fiend back in 2019, and fans can now look forward to playing as the demonic character in the upcoming 2K Games’ title, WWE 2K24, releasing next month.

WWE 2K24 releases on March 8th, and fans will hope the game releases without any hiccups despite all the controversy outside the ring.

It has been a busy week for the WWE. Not only did the company announce a major move that will see its flagship weekly show move to Netflix in 2025, but the company’s founder Vince McMahon also found himself at the center of yet another controversy that led to his exit from the company. However, on Saturday, Jan. 27, neither of those stories will matter as the WWE superstars will compete in one of the most beloved matches of each and every year, the Royal Rumble. You will not want to miss any of the action when it kicks off on Peacock at 8 p.m. Et. In addition to the men’s and women’s rumbles, there will be a match for the United States title and the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. You can watch with a subscription to Peacock.

Match #1: Montez Ford def. Santos Escobar The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits attacked Carlito, Montez Ford squared off against The Lwo’s Santos Escobar. In an explosive match, Escobar took out Dawkins at ringside. This allowed Ford to capitalize, as he caught Escobar with a rollup to gain the win. After the match, Carlito and the rest of The Lwo came out to save Escobar from a Street Profit beatdown.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Austin Theory & Grayson Waller def. Dragon Lee & Cameron Grimes The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Match #1: Pretty Deadly def. The Brawling Brutes The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Elton Prince returned from injury, and his team got right back in the win column as Pretty Deadly defeated The Brawling Brutes, albeit in controversial fashion. When The Brutes were in charge and looking for the win, Prince feigned a knee injury. This distracted the referee long enough for Kit Wilson to kick Ridge Holland, allowing Prince to roll him up for the win.
My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Bayley def. Zelina Vega The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Damage Ctrl Superstar Bayley used underhanded tactics to walk away the victor in a hotly contested matchup against The Lwo’s Zelina Vega. Vega gained...

Welcome to this review of the 2023 edition of WWE”s Fastlane pay-per-view, well I say pay-per-view but this is technically a Ple (Premium Live Event) because… I have no idea what the difference is other than some countries get to see Ple’s without paying more than a subscription to a streaming service. Anyway, rant over, here’s the review…
Match #1: Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship – Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso def. Finn Bálor & Damian Priest The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Judgment Day’s firm grasp on WWE is slipping as Señor Money in the Bank and Finn Bálor lost the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships to the unlikely pairing of Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, Nxt North American Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio and Jd McDonagh arrived to help their Judgment Day teammates, but McDonagh’s attack backfired as he accidentally...

Match #1: Charlotte Flair & Asuka def. Iyo Sky & Bayley The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
One night before WWE Fastlane, Charlotte Flair gained the pinfall victory during her and Asuka’s match against WWE Women’s Champion Iyo Sky and Bayley. At WWE Fastlane, Sky is set to defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Flair and Asuka in a Triple Threat Match and looks to be on shaky ground, as she and her partner Bayley came up short. The four Superstars balled out, with Sky taking out everyone in a tremendous Tower of Doom that left everyone down. Even though Flair had accidentally booted Asuka in the face, she still came away with the win after a Natural Selection on Sky.

Match #1: Jimmy Uso def. Karl Anderson The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In a subsequent matchup, a Solo Sikoa distraction allowed Jimmy Uso to rake Anderson’s eyes before following up with a Superkick and Samoan Splash to overcame his opponent. When Anderson battled back after the match, Solo entered the ring and blasted the defeated Superstar with a post-match Samoan Spike. As The Bloodline made the exit, however, Michin emerged and dropped Jimmy to the floor with a hard slap.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: Austin Theory def. Cameron Grimes The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Match #1: Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar def. The Street Profits The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
All is not right between Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits. Though the group seemed primed to potentially take over SmackDown, Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford suffered a loss to United States Champion Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar to cause a rift in the group. Lashley’s cheap shot on Mysterio late in the match caused Dawkins to lose focus, allowing Mysterio to pick up the victory via rollup. The All Mighty admonished the former tag team champs after the loss, walking out on them in frustration.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: WWE Women’s Championship – Asuka def. Iyo Sky The following is courtesy of wwe.
