"Requesting return to the Halo orbit." Cj Entertainment has revealed two teaser trailers for their new sci-fi movie called The Moon, a space survival movie that seems like a Korean cross between The Martian and Apollo 13. It depicts the struggle of an astronaut who accidentally becomes isolated in space, and the rescue plan led by former head of a space center. Seon-woo walks on the surface of the Moon when solar winds unexpectedly hit and bring a meteor shower. While he survives, his journey back to earth proves difficult as he winds up stranded in space. Jae-Kook back down on Earth tries to save him. The film stars Do Kyung-soo, also known by his stage name D.O. of K-pop boy band Exo, and Sul Kyung-gu, plus Kim Hee-ae,...

Kim Yong-Hwa, the South Korean filmmaker whose credits include box office smash fantasy action drama Along With The Gods and its sequel, has provided an update on his planned first co-production with Hollywood.
Speaking at the 2019 International Film Festival & Awards Macao (Iffam), the director said that he is still working on Prodigal, a U.S.-Korea co-production that he announced in 2017 would be produced by his company Dexter Studios, its first Hollywood film.
The project was set to be co-produced with Pow! Entertainment, the American outfit run by Marvel Comics icon Stan Lee, who died last year at the age of 95.
Mr Kim said he is now in discussions with new partners about resurrecting the project, which was initially set to be written by I Am Number Four scribes Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, though didn’t disclose company names.
Reports back in 2017 said it would focus on “paternal love...

Some films are based on fact. Some quite clearly aren't. Mr Go tells the story of the first gorilla to play baseball in the Korean baseball league. Unsurprisingly, this one falls into the latter category. Maybe if they'd gone with Japan, but not Korea. That would be insane. Directed by Yong-hwa Kim (200 Pounds Beauty), Mr Go is based on Huh Young-man's 1984 comic, The 7th Team, which depicts the relationship between the all-swinging gorilla and his 15-year-old female manager. Mr Go was the first South Korean film to be shot - for better or for worse - in full 3D, and is a co-production between South Korea and China. A bonkers concept then, but what about the execution? When Weiwei's (Jiao Xu) grandfather died in the Great Sichuan Earthquake, he left behind an insurmountable debt. Things get worse for Weiwei when a loan shark threatens to sell Ling Ling and...
