Over the weekend at the New York Comic-Con, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn (“X-Men: First Class”) was doing a panel chat to help promote his upcoming Apple/Universal spy comedy “Argylle” and gave some insight into the casting process for “Kingsman: The Secret Service” as Taron Egerton wasn’t the only up-and-coming talent considered for the lead role.

Vaughn has now stated during a chat with Collider at that panel that other young British actors were considered for the lead role of Gary “Eggsy” Unwin, a London hooligan who becomes a reformed gentleman secret agent taking a bit of a cue from the Roger Moore era of the James Bond franchise meets “My Fair Lady.

Before Matthew Vaughn earned critical acclaim for rebooting the “X-Men” movie franchise with 2011’s “X-Men: First Class,” he was courted to replace Bryan Singer as the director of 2006’s “X-Men: The Last Stand.” That tentpole served as the third film in the storyline led by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, but Vaughn recently revealed at New York City Comic-Con (via ScreenRant) that he rejected the offer to direct the sequel after discovering a studio executive’s plan to deceive Halle Berry into reprising her role as Storm.
“One of the main reasons I quit ‘X-Men 3,’ and this is a true story,” Vaughn said. “I went to an executive’s office and I saw an ‘X3’ script. It was a lot fatter. I asked, ‘What is this draft?’ They were like, ‘Don’t worry about it.’ So I grabbed it, and opened the first page, and it said, ‘Africa. Kids dying from no water,...

Matthew Vaughn, director of the Kick-Ass film franchise, is teasing the reboot movie and saying that none of the previous actors are coming back but leaves the door open for future installments.
“Kick-Ass changed people’s perception of what a superhero film is. We’re doing it again,” Vaughn said during a panel at New York Comic Con, per EW. “None of the other characters from the other Kick-Ass are in it, though we’d like to have them back after the reboot. I can’t really talk about it, but it’s fun!”
Kick-Ass is a 2010 film directed by Vaughn from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jane Goldman, based on the comic book created by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. The first installment starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloë Grace Moretz, Mark Strong and Nicolas Cage. A sequel would follow in 2013 with Jim Carrey joining the cast as Sal Bertolinni,...

Snoop Dogg was filmed heaping praise on Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke as she attended his show at the O2 Arena in London.
The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper was caught on camera meeting the British actor in a recent Tiktok.
In a clip shared by tour promoter Ian Vaughn, the pair can be seen meeting each other after Snoop’s headline show on 21 March.
During their exchange, Snoop tells a beaming Clarke how much he admires her.
“You’re an amazing actress, beautiful spirit, you’re so believable,” he says to the star.
“I would protect your eggs any day…” he adds before the group in the room begins to laugh.
“Yes!” replies Clarke. “Can I get that in writing,” she jokes.

Don’t come for the team of “Abbott Elementary” unless you’re ready to learn.
Jeanne Allen of the Center for Education Reform called out “Abbott” creator Quinta Brunson on Twitter last week for attending charter schools. A major plot point in the ABC comedy’s second season is that Draemond (Leslie Odom Jr.) is trying to turn Abbott into a charter, but the teachers (including Brunson’s Janine) are vehemently against it.
I'll share it again.
The creator, lead writer and co-producer of @AbbottElemABC @quintabrunson
is from West Philly and attended charter schools her entire education. She reportedly loved it at the time, heaped praise on it. Once upon a time.
Guess money talks.

Brunson responded, telling Allen “you’re wrong and bad at research” and clarifying that she only attended a charter for high school — and that charter schools often close, as hers eventually did.
