Harley James Sheppard is a composer and multi-instrumentalist from Southern California. He began musical training at an early age, studying classical piano and music theory throughout his elementary school years. He soon discovered his passion for jazz and proceeded to attend San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SDSCPA), majoring in Jazz Performance and competing nationally in the Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival in New York. During his time at SDSCPA, he studied under jazz trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos who fostered his love for composition. In conjunction with his high school curriculum, Harley studied four years at Young Lions Jazz Conservatory on the Johnny Steele Scholarship. He's currently attending New York University Steinhardt, pursuing a degree in Music Theory and Composition within the Screen Scoring program. He is studying Film Music with composer John Kaefer.
