Nelly Furtado took to Instagram on Saturday to show off her battle scars following a particularly dramatic performance onstage at Coachella.
Fans at the music festival on Saturday saw Furtado trip and fall after joining Dom Dolla to perform their single, “Eat Your Man.” Furtado shared footage of the spill on her own Instagram story later that day.
Also on social media, Furtado shared a photo of her bloodied finger after the performance. “Literally left it all on the stage,” she wrote, “including my blood.”
In footage of the incident, Furtado is seen singing the lyric “movin’ my body like a nympho” just before falling to the floor. She recovers quickly, telling the crowd, “I say it right, now do what I say.”
In the video of herself stumbling, she quipped: “Eat your man…not the stage.”

Grimes took to social media Sunday to apologize for the technical issues during her Coachella performance this weekend.
The singer-songwriter struggled with equipment malfunctions throughout her show Saturday, with problems plaguing the programming of her tracks at the mixing desk that left her screaming into the microphone throughout the second half of her set.
“The cdjs were showing me bpms like 370 so I couldn’t even mix manually by ear and the front monitors were off so it was literally sonic chaos on my end trying to guess how stuff was sounding for u guys,” she explained on X (formerly Twitter).
Her statement also explained she outsourced certain aspects of the performance “to save time.”
“I wanted to come back rly strong and usually I always handle every aspect of my show myself – to save time this was one of the first times I’ve outsourced essential things like rekordbox...

Sublime’s Coachella set with Jakob Nowell occurred four months after the late singer’s son first joined Wilson and Gaugh for a private benefit show in Los Angeles. Guagh and Wilson had previously formed Sublime with Rome in 2009 with singer Rome Ramirez, but Guagh left the band two years later. After Gaugh and Wilson performed with Nowell in December 2023, Sublime with Rome disbanded.

Vampire Weekend have played around with a slightly “punky,” slightly “jammy”side project in their free time, band members Ezra Koenig, Chris Tomson, and Chris Baio told the New York Times.
According to Tomson, the extra-curriculars began as a way to blow off steam during the pandemic. “The world had stopped working and a lot of what we normally do was just not being done,” Tomson recalled. “There was something about just playing with no expectation — to just play with my two very close friends without an agenda.”

Baio added, “It’s very rare for people in a band of our size to be alone together. No engineer, no tour manager, nothing like that. It felt like being at the outset of the band again. And we did that for three years and change, whenever we were all in town.”

Twenty-eight years after Nowell’s tragically early death, two entirely separate versions of Sublime will be touring in 2024. And no one’s happy about it, especially Rome Ramirez, who will be playing numerous contractually obligated shows billed as Sublime with Rome — the final concerts for that band — even as original bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh reunite for Coachella and other festivals as plain old Sublime,...

The Coachella 2024 lineup is here in all of its glory, and joining headliners Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator, and Doja Cat will be two special ‘90s reunions: No Doubt and Sublime, the latter of which will perform with Jakob Nowell, son of the band’s original frontman, Bradley Nowell.
The reunited Sublime first came together in December 2023, when the band’s original bassist and drummer — Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, respectively — enlisted Jakob to perform with them at a benefit concert for Bad Brains’ frontman, H.R. At the show, the trio was billed as “A special performance by Jakob Nowell, Eric Wilson, and Bud Gaugh,” but now, they have formally “reunited,” and will be playing as Sublime, right and proper.
As exciting as the reunion is, though, it isn’t too much of a surprise. After the trio announced their performance last month, the team that manages Sublime’s...

Post Malone enjoys using his international tours as opportunities to check out local watering holes, particularly those that offer karaoke. Lana Del Rey’s “Say Yes to Heaven” references a John Lennon song. Notably, the tune recontextualizes the title of one of John’s most famous solo songs. In the same vein, Del Rey has paid homage to many other classic rock icons.
Lana Del Rey’s ‘Say Yes to Heaven’ uses the title of John Lennon’s ‘Give Peace a Chance’
Looking through Del Rey’s catalog, she clearly has a healthy obsession with classic rock. Here catalog includes lyrical shout-outs to tunes by Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Elton John, David Bowie, The Mamas & the Papas, Lou Reed, Harry Nilsson, The Crystals, and numerous other great artists. She’s also covered tunes by Donovan, Nirvana, Nancy Sinatra, Sublime, and other rock stars.

The 1990s reggae rock band Sublime will get the biopic treatment from 3000 Pictures and Chernin Entertainment with “Hunger Games” filmmaker Francis Lawrence directing and “Ozark” showrunner Chris Mundy writing the script, Sony Pictures said Thursday.
The film will tell the story of how Long Beach musicians Bradley Nowell, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh became the leading figures of the ’90s alternative rock wave with a trio of albums that fused rock, reggae and ska punk among other influences. While the band developed a devoted following during their career from 1988 to 1996, it wasn’t until Nowell’s untimely death from a heroin overdose in 1996 that songs like “What I Got” and “Santeria” became breakthrough chart-toppers and made Sublime one of the most successful bands of the decade.

While HBO’s “Westworld” was originally based on the 1973 movie starring Yu Brynner, the series quickly moved beyond its cinematic roots into the world of role playing games and overlapping storylines before moving outside the walls of the park into the real world in Season 3. Season 4, returning to HBO on June 26, feels inspired by both the 1976 feature film sequel “Futureworld” and “The Matrix” as the characters (and the audience) struggle to determine what’s real and what’s a simulation.
The first two seasons of “Westworld” explored a massive live-action open-world role-playing game run by Delos Corporation. A destination experience where wealthy human guests can live out their fantasies through various themed experiences in the park. The guests, given free reign to be on their worst behavior, often tortured the lifelike robot “hosts”, stuck in the park on an endless horrific loop. The guests, like the hosts, are constantly observed...

Tommy “Tiny” Lister, who appeared in “Friday” and “The Fifth Element” and was also a professional wrestler, died Thursday, his manager Cindy Cowan confirmed.
Cowan said he was found unresponsive in his apartment in Marina del Rey, Calif. after displaying symptoms of Covid-19 in recent days. He had been working on a film and had to cancel shooting after falling ill, Cowan said.
“He was a wonderful guy with a heart of gold. Everyone loved him. A real gentle giant,” she said, “We’re all devastated.”
Lister wrestled Hulk Hogan in the World Wrestling Federation after appearing as Zeus in 1989’s “No Holds Barred.” He later spent time in World Championship Wrestling, where he was billed as Z-Gangsta.
The actor, who was blind in his right eye, played the neighborhood bully Deebo in the 1995 “Friday” and appeared in the sequel “Next Friday.”

Betty Wright, an influential singer whose soulful voice won her a Grammy Award for Where Is The Love, has died at age 66. No cause of death was revealed by her niece, who confirmed her death.
Beyond performing, Wright operated her own record label, Mrs. B Records, and her own publishing company, Miami Spice.
Born Bessie Regina Norris in Miami, Florida, in December 1953, Wright began singing gospel music. She was 18 years old when she first hit the charts with the 1971 song Clean Up Woman, which became her signature song. She later recorded the chart hits No Pain (No Gain) and Mother Wit, achieving a gold record for the latter on her own label.
Singer Chaka Khan had asked for prayers for Wright earlier this month. Wright was still an influence, being referenced as late as March in the TV show Unsung by DJ Khaled and Lil Wayne for her song, Tonight Is the Tonight.

This article contains major spoilers for the first three episodes of Westworld Season 3.
It is alive. Or rather, she lives again. When the host who we’ll call “Charlotte Hale” opens her eyes at the top of tonight’s Westworld, it’s the second time this robotic replica of the high-powered Delos executive has come online with a new Cpu consciousness or “pearl.” The earliest instance was at the end of season 2 when Dolores, whose information was copied onto a pearl that Bernard put into the robo-clone, became “Charlotte” and killed the actual flesh-and-blood Hale.
That felt like justice for viewers then, or at least revenge after Charlotte coldly murdered poor, innocent Elsie. Yet tonight’s Westworld is all about adding new context and more confusion as we tumble down the rabbit hole. For instance, the actual first scene of the night is a flashback to Charlotte on the night...

Lana Del Rey lazes on a hammock, hangs with the ladies of the canyon and holds a majestic butterfly in the three-song video for “Norman Fucking Rockwell,” “Bartender” and “Happiness Is a Butterfly.”
Directed by Del Rey’s sister, Chuck Grant, the 14-minute triple video opens with the singer at the piano playing the chords to the title track. As it segues into “Bartender,” she poses with friends that include Emma Elizabeth Tillman (photographer and wife of Father John Misty’s Josh Tillman), Alexandria Kaye, Craig Stark and Ash Rodriguez.

Fifty years ago this May, Robert Hunter popped into a pizza parlor in Menlo Park, California, to see his friend Jerry Garcia play in his new electric band, the Warlocks. “They were good, just dandy,” recalls Hunter, sitting in the living room of his San Rafael, California, home. “It was hard to believe Jerry in a rock & roll band, I’ve got to say. He was a folk musician. But then to become a rock & roll band, him and Bill and Weir and Pigpen—it was amusing. It just seemed unlikely,...

It's been more than a decade since the 1990s ended, yet the Internet can't seem to go a day without a reminder of the neon slap bracelets that may have been banned from your school.

This week’s soundtracks review only features one new soundtrack with three re-releases and new versions of one film series’ scores.
Eastbound & Down by Various Artists
Eastbound & Down is an American comedy series about a former Major League Baseball superstar who fizzled out and is now adjusting to normal life while trying to get back to the Majors. The show predominantly takes place in the American south (and Mexico) and the music of the show reflects that. A majority of the musical tracks on this two-disc soundtrack could be classified as blues/southern rock or rap. This can be evidenced by the theme song, 1971’s “Going Down” by blues musician Freddie King. Almost half of the tracks are clips from the show, showcasing the humor of Eastbound. A great soundtrack for fans of the show or blues rock fans who enjoy some crude humor mixed in between the songs.

Diane Haithman contributes to Deadline’s TV coverage. When a comedy writer moderates a WGA panel of his peers, the audience is bound to get more jokes than straight answers. That’s what happened tonight at this year’s ‘Primetime Sublime’ panel featuring Emmy-nominated writers moderated by The Simpsons’ Mike Scully. Joking “Let’s start on a light note – The Killing!”, Scully turned to the AMC mystery’s showrunner, Veena Sud, who was nominated for the pilot. “So you were looking for something dark, coming off Cold Case? I like that [your] scenes don’t end with David Caruso tipping his sunglasses and saying: ‘This seems like a case of sour rapes.’” Next, Scully moved on to Peter Gould, writer of the HBO movie Too Big to Fail, based on the non-fiction book of the same title by Andrew Ross Sorkin which dissects that 2008 financial meltdown. “It’s about banks closing,...

This Week in DVD & Blu-ray is a column that compiles all the latest info regarding new DVD and Blu-ray releases, sales, and exclusive deals from stores including Target, Best Buy and Fry’s. The Disappearance Of Alice Creed The Disappearance of Alice Creed opens with two men prepping for what we can only assume—given the title of the film (despite any revelations about its meaning that may come later)—is a kidnapping. We assume correctly. They pull a girl into a van, tie her to a bed, strip her of all her clothes, snap photos of her, and put new clothes on her. All of this takes places without any dialogue, or any understanding of who these people are, how they know each other, or what their motivations are. The less you know about what happens from that point forward, the better. This is the sort of assured, smartly...
