Universal TV continues to develop a 'reimagining' of the 1969 Rod Sterling horror/supernatural anthology TV series "Night Gallery", from Jeff Davis ("Teen Wolf") and Universal Cable Productions:
"...the new series will explore the dangers of social media and modern nightmares in the digital age..."
The original "Night Gallery" aired 1969-1973, featuring stories of horror and the macabre, with Rod Serling of "Twilight Zone" fame as both on-air host and major contributor of scripts.
Serling appeared in an art gallery setting and introduced the macabre tales that made up each episode by unveiling paintings that depicted the stories. His intro usually was:
"Good evening, and welcome to a private showing of three paintings, displayed here for the first time.
"Each is a collector's item in its own way—not because of any special artistic quality, but because each captures on a canvas, suspended in time and space, a frozen moment of a nightmare.

Paramount+ premiered the werewolf horror series “Wolf Pack” back in January 2023, and TV Line reports tonight that the series has already been cancelled after just one season.
Sarah Michelle Gellar made her return to horror in the series.
TV Line reports, “Last summer’s dual Hollywood strikes were the final nail in Wolf Pack‘s coffin. According to sources, a potential second season would not have been ready for nearly two years after the conclusion of Season 1.”
“Wolf Pack,” written and produced by Jeff Davis, follows a teenage boy and girl whose lives are changed forever when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature and drives it to attack a highway traffic jam beneath the burning hills.
Wounded in the chaos, the boy and girl are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two other teenagers who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire.

Wolf Pack fans will be howling tonight as it’s been announced that Paramount+ has officially canceled the series after just one season.
Based on the book series by Edo Van Belkom, Wolf Pack revolves around “a teenage boy, Everett, and girl, Blake, whose lives are forever changed when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature. Wounded in the chaos of its attack, the teens are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two others, fraternal twins Harlan and Luna, who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire. Paramount has decided to not move forward with a second season of “Wolf Pack,” Variety has confirmed.
Based on Edo Van Belkom’s book series and created by Jeff Davis, the show follows two teens whose lives are changed when a California wildfire awakens a supernatural creature. Season 1 aired in Jan 2023 alongside the “Teen Wolf” movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray starred.
Sources say Paramount hoped the audience behind the series would have grown from Season 1 to Season 2, but due to the dual Hollywood strikes, the likelihood of that happening was cut short since production was stopped. Season 2 would’ve arrived roughly two years after Season 1 debuted.
The series serves as the latest Paramount+ original to be canceled following “Joe Pickett,” which ended after two seasons in October 2023. Along with the rest of last year’s cancellations including “iCarly,...

Wolf Pack, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, will not return to Paramount+ for a second season.
Although the drama series never was officially renewed for Season 2, the team was actively working on it, with production having been slated to begin in February, sources close to production told Deadline. Series creator Jeff Davis told the cast about the cancellation this week.
It comes as Paramount+ continues cutting costs, which also includes mass layoffs. Bob Bakish addressed this in a memo to his team on Thursday that the company will continue to reduce its global workforce “to operate as a leaner company and spend less” after Deadline revealed over the weekend that the company was bracing for more staff cuts, thought to be in the hundreds including the programming teams.

Paramount+ is letting its wolves go.
The streamer has canceled Wolf Pack after a single season, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The series, an offshoot of former MTV favorite Teen Wolf and from creator Jeff Davis, wrapped its eight-episode run last March.
Sources say the streamer was keen on doing a second season of the series, but ultimately delays caused by the writers and actors strikes last year would have meant that a sophomore run would not have been ready until 2025. That, sources say, wasn’t going to work for Paramount+ as the platform would have had to spend more to market the show after being off the air for an extended period of time.
Star Sarah Michelle Gellar, who also exec produced the show, told The Hollywood Reporter in March that writing for a potential second season was already underway. “We plan to do one,” she said when asked...

Is Paramount+ cleaning house?
It seems that every scripted series that doesn't have Taylor Sheridan's name attached is getting the pink slip.
The latest series to get canceled is Joe Pickett, which recently wrapped its sophomore run on the service.
We get it: The streaming bubble has burst.
Amid the SAG-AFTRA strike and coming off the WGA strike, some controversial decisions have been made across the whole breadth of the business.
But this latest cancellation from Paramount+ hurts, mainly because the series didn't waste a single scene.
Paramount+ recently caught heat when it promoted the season finale as the series finale before walking the footage back.
These things happen.
It happened with Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on Max, which went on to get renewed, so maybe it was a mistake.
But it doesn't get away from the fact that we're losing a gem of a series that delivered on many fronts.

The MTV series Teen Wolf – which was loosely inspired by the 1985 comedy film Teen Wolf (watch our Awfully Good video on that movie Here) – wrapped up its six season run back in 2017, and back in January it got a feature film follow-up on the Paramount+ streaming service. (Read our review of Teen Wolf: The Movie at This Link.) Now Paramount+ is hoping that movie is going to rack up multiple Primetime Emmy Awards nominations.
Variety reports that the streaming service has submitted Teen Wolf: The Movie for Emmys consideration in the following categories: Outstanding Television Movie, Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie (Tyler Posey), Directing (Russell Mulcahy), Writing, Prosthetic Makeup and Original Music and Lyrics (“Lemon” by Tyler Posey).
Since Posey was also a producer on the film, Variety notes that these submissions give him three chances to earn an Emmy nod.

“Teen Wolf: The Movie,” Paramount+’s adaptation of the MTV supernatural-thriller series, has been submitted for the Primetime Emmy Awards for outstanding television movie, Variety has learned exclusively.
Moreover, the streamer also submitted the film in five other categories: lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie (Tyler Posey), directing (Russell Mulcahy), writing, prosthetic makeup and original music and lyrics (“Lemon” by Tyler Posey). As the second entry in the widely acclaimed “Spider-Verse” franchise, Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse expanded the scope of the multiverse immensely and presented the viewers with a mind-boggling spectacle consisting of a staggering number of Spider-Characters. However, even amidst the crazy, over-the-top universe-hopping shenanigans, the core of the movie aligns with the strong emotional connection most great Spidey-oriented media focuses on. The treatment of the connection has been enunciated through a familial bond between characters and their close ones, which has added a certain depth to the story.

After 26 years away from the supernatural monsters of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Sarah Michelle Gellar is back in the pack with "Wolf Pack." The Paramount+ series, created by Jeff Davis ("Teen Wolf"), is based on the book of the same name by Edo van Belkom. When a fire causes animals to flee the forest, and some teens are injured, they discover that werewolves are real and living among them. Some of those attacked have become wolves as well. The series also stars Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson, Tyler Lawrence Gray, and Rodrigo Santoro.
The draw for many fans, however, is Gellar's return. After all, she did star as Buffy, a groundbreaking show for the time about a young woman who was far more than she appeared to be -- a vampire slayer who not only fought monsters but had a bunch of them as friends.

[This story contains major spoilers from the first season of Wolf Pack.]
Sarah Michelle Gellar is already quite familiar with the supernatural world, but what drew her to the Paramount+ series Wolf Pack goes deeper into what the show represents.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress’ latest project, which she stars in and executive produces, has her embracing werewolves, but in a way that gives her the opportunity to discuss important real-world topics, which she says is the reason she did the show. “Supernatural stories, in a really odd way, allow you to tell the most superhuman stories,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter.
While the series, written and produced by Jeff Davis, starts off as a “slow burn,” Gellar’s character eventually has two twists that most probably didn’t see coming — including when she’s revealed to be a werewolf. By the end of the first season, the high school-set horror show has answered many questions surrounding Gellar’s shocking character,...

Now, "Æon Flux" fans have a new opportunity to return to the '90s by taking a sound bath in composer Drew Neumann's remastered soundtrack for the show.
Waxwork Records is releasing the complete "Æon Flux" Original Series Soundtrack Box Set, marking the first time that the soundtrack has been officially available in any format. To make up for lost time, there are three different ways of listening: a deluxe box set comprised of six vinyl LPs, priced at 195; a multi-disc CD set, priced at 35; and for those of you who reject physical media entirely, it's also available across all digital streaming services. Now, starring as Garrett Briggs, a father to werewolves and a park ranger with a secret in the Sarah Michelle Gellar-starring series, Santoro has taken on a new battle. He says, “I was just connected to the storytelling and the characters.”
The high school-set horror series, written and produced by Jeff Davis, follows teenagers Everett (Armani Jackson) and Blake (Bella Shepard) as their lives are flipped upside down when they are bitten by a werewolf during a mysterious wildfire in southern California. The MTV series Teen Wolf – which was loosely inspired by the 1985 comedy film Teen Wolf (watch our Awfully Good video on that movie Here) – wrapped up its six season run back in 2017, but last month it got a feature film follow-up on the Paramount+ streaming service. (Read our review of Teen Wolf: The Movie at This Link.) And now that Teen Wolf has made its return, stars Tyler Posey and Crystal Reed said they would like to see it keep rolling with feature sequels.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Posey said he wants to work on Teen Wolf: The Movie 2 and possibly more sequels because, “(The Movie) is definitely not the perfect ending. I think it lends itself to more, I want more. I think it would be interesting to now see how they live their lives as adults. We got to see them as teenagers. Scott McCall and his wolfpack are back in "Teen Wolf: The Movie." The highly-anticipated film - helmed by the show's original creator, Jeff Davis - hit Paramount+ on Jan. 26 - nearly six years after MTV's "Teen Wolf" series aired its finale in September 2017.
The new movie sees so many of the show's original cast members returning to reprise their roles, including Tyler Posey as Scott, Crystal Reed as Allison Argent, Tyler Hoechlin as Derek Hale, Holland Roden as Lydia Martin, and Colton Haynes as Jackson Whittemore. And if that wasn't exciting enough, the film also brings back cast members like Shelley Hennig as Malia Tate and Dylan Sprayberry as Liam Dunbar.
The last time we saw the cast, some of them were dating each other or other celebrities. Since it's been so long since you've probably checked everybody's social media pages for updates on their personal lives, you might...

Paramount+’s Wolf Pack season one episode one introduced the four high school students who transform into werewolves. The season premiere confirmed their backstories were changed for the show, and instead of all four being siblings like in Edo Van Belkom’s book series, two were born that way while the other two were bitten during a devastating forest fire.
Episode two, airing on February 2, 2023, takes its title from the new backstories.
Season one stars Tyler Gray as Harlan Briggs, Chloe Robertson as Luna Briggs, Bella Shepard as Blake Navarro, and Armani Jackson as Everett Lang. The horror series Wolf Pack will deal with teenagers coping with their transformation. It’s a world with which series creator Jeff Davis is familiar, having adapted Teen Wolf for MTV. For Wolf Pack, Davis adapted Edo van Belkom’s books. Davis said Wolf Pack includes LGBTQ characters and won’t shy away from showing their relationships.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Teen Wolf: The Movie.] Teen Wolf: The Movie left off in a hopeful place for most of the characters, though one werewolf did make the ultimate sacrifice. Scott (Tyler Posey) and Lydia (Holland Roden) successfully brought Allison (Crystal Reed) back from the dead. The nogitsune and puppet-master Harris (Adam Fristoe) were defeated. Scott and Allison were back together and, after Derek’s (Tyler Hoechlin) death, took in his son Eli (Vince Mattis), who embraced being a werewolf. Creator Jeff Davis answers our burning questions after the movie and addresses if this will be the last time we see any sort of Teen Wolf. Was the plan always to reunite Scott and Allison once you knew Crystal would be returning? I wouldn’t say it was always the plan. I didn’t know quite where it was gonna end up in my head, but once I figured out Scott’s...

On paper, “Wolf Pack,” Paramount+’s newest supernatural teen drama, has it all. It’s a show with “Wolf” in the title, created by Jeff Davis, the same guy who created both “Criminal Minds” and the ridiculous and beloved TV show version of “Teen Wolf.” It’s got a diverse cast of hot 20-somethings playing teenagers who sometimes turn into wolves, and, most importantly, it stars supernatural teen drama icon Sarah Michelle Gellar. So it’s unfortunate that “Wolf Pack” doesn’t all come together, at least in the first two episodes made available for review.
The series centers on teens Everett (Armani Jackson) and Blake (Bella Shepard), two opposite teens who both get bitten by some mysterious wolf-like creature when their school bus is derailed by rapidly spreading wildfires. Everett ends up in the hospital with a nasty bite that seems to be quickly disappearing, while Blake rushes home...

TV often turns to tried-and-true genres to create an instant connection with viewers. But no one would expect teenage werewolves to occupy the same space as procedural dramas and workplace sitcoms. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Teen Wolf: The Movie.] No, there’s no undoing that tragic ending for one of the main werewolves of Teen Wolf in the Paramount+ film. Teen Wolf: The Movie saw Scott (Tyler Posey), Derek (Tyler Hoechlin), Lydia (Holland Roden), a resurrected Allison (Crystal Reed), and their friends go up against the nogitsune and Oni, due to puppet-master Harris’ (Adam Fristoe) work, and in order to win, a sacrifice had to be made. In order to hold the Nogitsune still for hellhound Parrish (Ryan Kelley) to kill him, Derek sacrificed himself and was burned up as well. Scott and Allison took in his son, Eli (Vince Mattis). TV cancellations are even more regular than a full moon these days, so there’s something to be said for Teen Wolf‘s almost animalistic tenacity. Hailing from the days when shows actually reached six seasons, MTV’s soft reboot of the ‘80s movie was canceled after a mammoth 100 episodes in 2017.

The show’s writer, Jeff Davis, is no stranger to werewolf dramas. He also wrote Teen Wolf, a TV reboot of the 1985 film. Recently, Davis shared that a real-life disaster inspired the first scene of Wolf Pack in California.

Now streaming on Paramount+, Teen Wolf: The Movie summons Scott McCall and his friends back to Beacon Hills for the fight of their lives — and not everyone makes it out alive.
A lot (too much?) happens in this long-awaited feature film, and while we promise to tackle everything over the next couple of days, we have to begin by discussing the movie’s most game-changing moment: the death of Derek Hale.

“We’ve heard plenty of stories about teenage werewolves. There’s always a new one.”
It’s an ending quip made by Dr. Conrad Fenris (John Posey), an expert on lycanthropy and the on-again, off-again director of Eichen House, a supernatural prison/insane asylum set in the mysterious Southern California town of Beacon Hills — secret home to a multitude of supernatural creatures, villains, heroes, and at one point at least one teen wolf. But in trying to set up a new story about a teenage werewolf, Teen Wolf: The Movie...

Before a deep dive into Paramount+’s latest supernatural teen drama “Wolf Pack,” a bit of housekeeping is in order. “Wolf Pack” is the creation of Jeff Davis, who also loosely adapted “Teen Wolf” (from the old Michael J. Fox film) into a six-season drama, for Paramount’s MTV. But “Wolf Pack” – built from the novel by Edo van Belkom – is not a “Teen Wolf” spin-off, and doesn’t take place in the same universe. But it is about werewolves, and it premieres immediately following the new culminating “Teen Wolf” movie. So that settles that.
That might make Davis’ newest project a tad bit confusing, but it’s also a pretty slick strategy to follow your hit series with a show that resembles it so closely that audiences might not resist its supernatural pull. Basically, Davis has cornered the market on teen dramas for people who stayed angry about Bella...

It’s not an anniversary most people are celebrating, but it was only a year ago that Peacock released a quirky little dramedy called Wolf Like Me. Even though it was obvious to anybody who could read the title, the preference was that critics not spoil that the show, featuring a great central performance from Isla Fisher, was really about werewolves. Stupid, pesky people and their pesky feelings.
Fortunately, there’s no need to tip-toe when it comes to Paramount+’s new drama Wolf Pack. It’s about werewolves. Yay! The very best thing that can be said about Wolf Pack is that it’s not coy. Still, even knowing that the show is unquestionably about werewolves, discerning audiences tuning in for...
