Exclusive: In advance of its big slate presentation tomorrow here at CinemaCon, we’ve caught word from exhibition sources that Lionsgate is making a few release-date changes.
First of all, its anticipated reboot of The Crow from director Rupert Sanders and starring Bill Skarsgård is moving from June 7 to August 23.
On its new date, The Crow will go up against Amazon MGM’s Zoë Kravitz’s feature directorial debut, the suspense thriller Blink Twice, as well as Sony’s Kendrick Brothers’ faith-based title The Forge.

Hit faith-based drama “The Chosen,” which just launched its fourth season in theaters via a partnership with Fathom Events, is already prepping the start of production for Season 5 next month. Variety has confirmed that cameras will begin rolling on “The Chosen” Season 5 in Utah starting April 11; the series will shoot there for six weeks before shifting to the show’s home base in Texas for the remainder of the production.
“The Chosen” has been mapped out as a seven-season series; for Season 5, the show will pick up where Season 4 left off, during Holy Week before the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Back for Season 5 are the full “The Chosen” cast, including Jonathan Roumie as Jesus.
Also returning is exec producer Dallas Jenkins, who directs and also writes with Ryan Swanson and Tyler Thompson. “The Chosen” also continues to be a fully independent production, with global distribution rights handled by Lionsgate.

Exclusive: Parenthood and Gilmore Girls actress Lauren Graham has boarded Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company’s upcoming holiday theatrical release, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.
The feature take of Barbara Robinson’s classic book, under the direction of Dallas Jenkins, recently wrapped production. The pic hits theaters on Nov. 15.
In addition, some cast members from Jenkins’ The Chosen series also joined the film, including Kirk B.R. Woller, Vanessa Benavente, and Elizabeth Tabish.
Graham will play the pic’s the narrator in addition to making a key on-screen cameo. Woller, Benavente and Tabish respectively play Reverend Hopkins, a first-grade teacher, and church lady Mrs. Grady. Peru native Benavente played Mother Mary in The Chosen, while Tabish portrayed Mary Magdalene.
The family comedy also stars Judy Greer as Grace, the director of the pageant, and Pete Holmes as her husband, Bob.
Screenplay is from Darin McDaniel & Platte Clark and Ryan Swanson and Jenkins.
