With screams only canines can hear, I too am 'adjusting' to the anaphylactic shock of seeing Oprah in the flesh, yet soon wind down with the rest of the audience into my newly hijacked front row seat.
Oprah thanks this sea of over 9,000 fans, "This is largest crowd we've ever had for our Lifeless series," she says.
An outpouring of love and adulation is flowing from the crowd:
"We love you Oprah!"
"You look so skinny Oprahhhh!"
"Well, I have to get me back to Canada more often" she says cheekily.
"You should come to Montreal next," someone yells.
"Ok, Mon-Tre-Al next," says Oprah like she's ordering takeout.
On the various screens behind her are an array of international Skypers all confined to their digital squares, not unlike the Brady Bunch intro. There's a woman from New Zealand, an Indian couple, and a group of women from the Rockville Correctional...

I was six feet away from her backstage. The entourage of security guards were distracted with other business. Now was my only chance to appease my obsession and jump into her arms. So why didn't I take it?
A month ago I got the call:
"Will you do a gig for free next month?"
"Which gig?"
"Emceeing Oprah's Lifeclass Tour stop in Toronto."
Thud (that's me hitting the floor).
"Eeeeey-y-yesssssughhhh" (that's me ugly-crying while I accept the job).
"See you on the 16th."
I was humbled, amazed, and incredibly grateful. Oprah's on my vision board. I quote Iyanla Vanzant regularly. Tony Robbins' tapes are the motivator that got me pumped to give comedy a try 12 years ago. I have most of Deepak Choprah's books. Hosting this event would mean meeting all of them. Highlight of my professional life, right? Yes. But for reasons I wasn't expecting.

It's not every day Radio City Music Hall temporarily closes down its men's bathroom. But that's exactly what happened when Oprah Winfrey decided to film two episodes of her Lifeclass series at the famous theater in New York City. My adventure started when I got the email from the Own team inviting me to attend the tapings of Oprah's Lifeclass: The Tour featuring two charismatic guest teachers -- spiritual wise man Deepak Chopra, who taught the afternoon show about tapping into your spiritual side (which will air on Own on April 23) and charismatic life coach Tony Robbins, who taught the evening live show about living fearlessly.
When I first got to the theater, I was escorted backstage, downstairs to the brightly lit Rockettes dressing room, to convene with about ten other journalists, and then taken into a small room next door for an intimate meet-and-greet with Tony Robbins. We...

A review of last night's "30 Rock" coming up just as soon as I pants Deepak Chopra while Craig T. Nelson tapes it... There's been a lot of discussion in the comments this season about how much Liz has or hasn't grown since the series began, and also about whether "30 Rock" is a show that needs character development — or if, in fact, that growth would be counter-productive on such a silly, cartoonish show. I've never believed that every sitcom has to make its characters grow and change. Sure, it's gratifying to see that happen on "The Office" or "Frasier,"...

Adrian Grenier has released a video calling on people to practice compassion (treating others as we’d like to be treated ourselves) in everyday life.
He created the video for the Charter for Compassion — a global movement that has more than 85,000 active participants, including the Dalai Lama, Deepak Chopra, Sir Richard Branson and Goldie Hawn. The Charter for Compassion is a call to restore the Golden Rule to the center of religious, moral and civic life: treating all others as we wish to be treated ourselves.

Deepak Chopra is that strange hybrid of celebrity and spiritual icon, known for his followers (Michael Jackson was a loyal fan) and diamond-bedazzled eyewear. But to his son Gotham, he's just Dad. In Gotham's feature directorial debut (world premiering in the Headliners section at SXSW), "Decoding Deepak," the filmmaker and journalist attempts to separate the man from myth by following him around the world for nearly a year. The resulting documentary is a remarkably honest portrait of Deepak, as seen through the eyes of someone who knows him best. Indiewire sat down with the pair shortly following the film's premiere in Austin. This marks the first pit stop on the festival circuit with this film. I know it's early in the process, but what's this journey been like? Deepak: I was sitting in the back, the room was full and no one walked out. So that's a good sign. Gotham: People seem really engaged.

See the latest movie trailer for the Decoding Deepak documentary from Gotham Chopra. Journalist and filmmaker Gotham Chopra spends a year traveling the world decoding his father Deepak Chopra, resolving the spiritual icon he is to the world vs. the real man known to his family. What starts as an intimate biopic becomes a deeper plunge into the meaning of identity itself. The film from writer-director-producer Gotham Chopra makes its premiere at SXSW on March 11th. I remember watching Deepak Chopra back when I was living in South Africa, so this has, curiously enough, snagged my attention.

The long-anticipated launch of the Born This Way Foundation, started by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta, will finally kick off on Wednesday at the Harvard Graduate School Of Education.
Named after Gaga's chart-topping single and album, the organization aims to empower youth and drive them toward self-acceptance.
"Together we hope to establish a standard of bravery and kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment," Gaga said in a statement.
The issue of bullying is an important one to Gaga, and it became even more prominent after 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer committed suicide after being bullied for his sexual orientation.
"Bye mother monster, thanks you for all you have done, paws up forever," Rodemeyer tweeted at Gaga before taking his life.
"The past days I've been reflecting, crying, and yelling," Gaga tweeted when the news broke. "I have so much anger.

Want to make a Gen Xer feel old? Tell 'em that 20 years ago today, on February 14, 1992, "Wayne's World" was released in theaters. ("'Wayne's World' is 20? No way?!" "Way!") Lots of now middle-aged folks who spent too long living in their parents' basements (like Wayne and Garth) have fond memories of what may be the funniest film ever spawned from a "Saturday Night Live" sketch, a film that made a bankable movie comedy star out of Mike Myers, introduced the world to Tia Carrere, helped rescue Rob Lowe's career, and spawned countless catchphrases that viewers couldn't stop repeating. ("Schwing!" "We're not worthy!" "That's what she said!") Yet behind the movie's blissful silliness lies a secret story of off-camera bitterness and strife that threatened to keep the film from partying on -- as you'll read below. 1. Myers created the Wayne Campbell character long before "SNL," when he was still in high school.

Exclusive: The revolving door at the struggling Own: The Oprah Winfrey Network continues without slowing, and even without warning or public announcement. This time it has claimed one of Winfrey’s closest and most trusted executives, Lisa Erspamer. We’ve learned that Erspamer, Evp of production and development for the underperforming cable network, was let go yesterday after an 18-year tenure with Winfrey. We hear that the news was delivered to Erspamer while Winfrey was out of the country. (Oprah has been in India to interview Deepak Chopra for her new show Oprah’s Next Chapter.) We hear Erspamer didn’t even receive the news from Oprah personally. No public statement was made. Instead an internal ”Assistant to the Office of the President” email was sent around only to staff: one of those impersonal “we wish her well” announcements. “Lisa was shocked,” a source tells us. “She’d been in Oprah’s inner circle.

It’s hard to compete with an online video sharing site with a global audience that watches over 88 billion videos in any given month. So, what’s a relatively new video-oriented start-up with a focus on user-generated content to do to find some space to thrive within an online video landscape dominated by YouTube? Something different. “VYou fits nicely in the space between conversation and broadcast,” the company’s Creative Director, Rex Sorgatz explained. In practice, that means VYou is a place where you, online video, and mainstream celebrities can make...
