- Actor, emcee, and female impersonator in the 1920s and 1930s. He drowned in 1933 after accidentally backing his car off the Venice Pier. Actress Patsy Kelly and a close friend, Jimmy Forlenza, were with him at the time but they both survived.
- "Jean" Malin was known in New York City as an actor, specializing primarily in female impersonations; he went west to Hollywood, acting as a master of ceremonies in various night clubs. At the time of his death, Malin had just finished an engagement at "The Ship", a local night club on the pier; the gig had been advertised as "The Last Night of Gene Malin".
- Jean Malin's widow, Lucille Malin (1901-1975) became known in later years as a notorious madam based in Manhattan. In 1936 and 1942, she was convicted of sending prostitutes across state lines for immoral purposes.
