- Martin Scorsese is a big fan of The Clash. He gave them a cameo in The King of Comedy (1982) and used "Janie Jones" and "I'm So Bored with the USA" in Bringing Out the Dead (1999).
- Their third album, London Calling (1980), is ranked number 8 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
- "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?" is their only UK number one while "Rock the Casbah" is their only single to reach the Top 10 in the United States, peaking at #8.
- Their debut album was not originally released in the United States. However, it sold 100,000 import copies, making it the largest selling import album of its time.
- They were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2003. There were rumors that Bruce Springsteen would join them to perform at the ceremony, but the remaining members decided not to play. They felt playing such an event would go against what The Clash stood for, but they did accept their awards.
