Is good TV worth waiting for? That's what the producers behind some of the shows featured in this week's biggest trailers are banking on. Peacock's Dr. Death premiered over two years ago, and we're finally getting a second season, with a new story and some hot new stars to boot. But when it comes to the week's best trailer, that's a story people have been waiting even longer to hear.
The 1980 murder of John Lennon — shot to death by assassin Mark David Chapman in front of his New York City apartment building — was a crushing blow to the culture. For everything that the Beatles meant to pop music and that Lennon meant to the counterculture and anti-war movement, to have it end so violently and suddenly makes this one of the most infamous killings of the 20th century.

A witness to Lennon’s murder, taxi driver Richard Peterson, and Jay Hastings, a doorman at The Dakota who heard Lennon’s last words before he was shot outside of the infamous building, also speculate what compelled Chapman to kill.
Lennon and wife Yoko Ono’s shared confidante Elliot Mintz is further interviewed as the docuseries questions whether Chapman had religious motives or was part of a larger conspiracy to kill celebrities.

Leto morphed himself into an entirely different person when he starred in the biographical film Chapter 27. The Oscar-winner played Mark David Chapman, the stalker who murdered iconic Beatles member John Lennon in 1980.
Given the film’s premise, Leto thought hard about doing the movie after reading the script. Ultimately, Leto decided to commit to the project because he felt it was an important story to tell.

Fame is far from the only occupational hazard in Hollywood.
Lately, it seems there’s a new headline every week detailing the varying degrees actors have suffered for the craft — everything from the psychological torture of getting in character to broken limbs or back injuries while filming and even the mental gymnastics required to decompress from a difficult role. Or, simply fainting while watching another actor suffer.
After the first public showing in New York of A24’s Beau Is Afraid, auteur Ari Aster admitted during a Q&a that Joaquin Phoenix passed out during a scene in which his title character was not in front of cameras but rather just present to help co-star Patti LuPone through her own intense scene. “All of a sudden, he fell out of frame,” Aster recalled. “I knew it was bad because he was letting people touch him and people were tending to him.

In and out of the group, The Beatles wrote many songs about home, whether where they grew up, a house they once lived in, or the city they resided in. Here’s a list of 13 times the Fab Four wrote about home.
The Beatles | Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images 13. ‘I’ll Follow the Sun’
The Beatles’ “I’ll Follow the Sun” doesn’t seem like a song about home, but it is. In his book The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, Paul McCartney wrote that the tune is a “Leaving of Liverpool song.” He explained that the lyrics say, “I’m leaving this rainy northern town for someplace where more is happening.” Paul and The Beatles did leave Liverpool to start a better life.
12. ‘In My Life’
“In My Life” was John Lennon’s first song where he spoke about his own life. He called it his “first real major piece of work.

There are a handful of classic rock songs about John Lennon. For example, Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen” is about the fear she felt following John’s death. Gerge Harrison also wrote a famous song about the “Imagine” singer.

Bob Dylan released “Roll on John” on his 2012 album Tempest. During a 2020 interview with The New York Times, Dylan discussed the song. “Those kinds of songs for me just come out of the blue, out of thin air,” he said. “I never plan to write any of them. But in saying that, there are certain public figures that are just in your subconscious for one reason or another.
“None of those songs with designated names are intentionally written,” he added. “They just fall down from space. I’m just as bewildered as anybody else as to why I write them.

Some of the scariest Beatles songs don’t necessarily have terrifying themes, but the way the music sounds can send a chill up your spine. Here are the scariest Beatles songs.
The Beatles | Express Newspapers/Getty Images 5. ‘Helter Skelter’
Before Charles Manson and his cult “hijacked” it, “Helter Skelter” was designed to be jarring. After hearing The Who’s Pete Townshend say he’d written the “loudest, dirtiest, rockiest” song, “I Can See for Miles,” Paul McCartney wanted to do the same. So, he went into the recording studio and told the band, “Let’s just see how loud we can get and how raucous. Let’s try to make the meters peak.”
However, the song had innocent beginnings. In The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, Paul wrote that a helter skelter is a conical fairground fixture with a slide around the outside. He also took inspiration from a song in Alice in Wonderland.

Los Angeles, Feb 26 (Ians) Yoko Ono is rumoured to have secretly quit New York city to live on a farm, 42 years after she watched her husband John Lennon get shot to death outside their home in the city.
Spending decades traumatised by the loss of her Beatles icon partner, the singer and artist, who last week celebrated her 90th birthday, stayed in their nine-room apartment in Manhattan’s exclusive Dakota Building, where gunman Mark David Chapman assassinated him on December 8, 1980, reports aceshowbiz.com.
However, now Yoko has decided to relocate full-time to her 600-acre farm near Franklin, New York, according to Dailymail.com. She is “not thought to have any plans to return” to her home in the Dakota, on the Upper West Side, the outlet said.

Maybe The Whale was doomed from the start. Darren Aronofsky’s mawkish Oscar-bait drama – starring Brendan Fraser as a morbidly obese man reeling from the death of his partner – seemed to break all the rules of contemporary good taste. And not deliberately. For the role, Fraser gained a significant amount of weight, and augmented this with prosthetics; The Whale is built entirely around his startling physical transformation. His character, however, is presented as an object of great pity, a viewpoint the film seems to find profound. Accusations of fatphobia have been rampant. (Eloise Hendy neatly explains the backlash in this piece about Hollywood’s problematic fat suit resurgence.) Critically speaking, The Whale has endured a pretty rigorous harpooning.
Yet while The Whale’s Best Picture hopes may have been beached by its polarised reception, Fraser’s own reputation has emerged from the film unscathed – and arguably even bolstered. The Mummy...

Late musician John Lennon’s former personal assistant was astounded by how quickly The Beatles icon kicked his heroin habit.
Living and working with John and the singer’s wife Yoko Ono as their Pa from 1969 to 1973, actor and mime artist Dan Richter, 83, supplied the couple with the class-a drug in the late 1960s because he didn’t want them scoring drugs on the street, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“I didn’t want them to be using. But I really didn’t want them to be using street heroin, killing themselves. There was a myth that drugs were a key to creativity. Which they might and might not be.
“People thought Billie Holiday and Charlie Parker were better artists because of drugs. Now I don’t think so,” he told The Daily Telegraph in an interview on Wednesday from his home in Sierra Nevada, Spain.

The Beatles singer Paul McCartney, who shared vocal duties with band member John Lennon, has revealed why he ‘couldn’t talk’ about John Lennon after his tragic death in 1980. McCartney, 80, opened up about how he got home from the studio after Lennon’s murder and turned on the TV to see people reflecting on his friend’s impact – but it was ‘too difficult’ for him to do the same, reports New York Post.
The musician revealed that the sudden loss of Lennon “hit me so much that I couldn’t really talk about it,” he said in a new interview with Sirius Xm’s The Beatles Channel about the making of his 1982 solo album ‘Tug of War’.
“I remember getting home from the studio on the day that we’d heard the news he died. Turning the TV on and seeing people say, ‘Well, John Lennon was this,’ and, ‘What he was,...

McCartney’s fellow Beatle was shot dead in New York in 1980, leaving behind wife Yoko Ono and sons Sean and Julian.
Now, forty years later, McCartney has opened up about the time immediately after the musician’s death and what led him to writing his song “Here Today”.
While being interviewed on the The Beatles Channel on SirusXM, the 80-year-old songwriter told of his grief and shock in the immediate aftermath of the news.
“When John died it was so difficult,” said McCartney. “It had hit me so much so, that I couldn’t really talk about it. I remember getting home from the studio on the day that we’d heard the news he died.

Julian Lennon has admitted that Richard Curtis’s film Yesterday was ruined for him by an “weird” scene involving his late father John Lennon.
Himesh Patel and Lily James starred in the 2019 romantic comedy about a musician who wakes up one day to find that nobody remembers The Beatles and decides to pass their music off as his own.
While none of the Beatles were involved in the film, they and their families gave their approval for it to go ahead, while the filmmakers spent 10m (£8.1m) on the rights to the band’s music.
However, one scene that divided fans – once referred to as a “Marmite scene” by director Danny Boyle – sees Jack (Patel) take a road trip, when he runs into John Lennon (Robert Carlyle) at a remote English countryside home.

Mark David Chapman, the man who shot John Lennon in New York in 1980, was denied parole for the 12th time this August.
A transcript of his remarks to the New York parole boarId was recently released, and at one point he discussed that he killed the musician for fame and also said he had “evil in my heart.”
“I knew what I was doing, and I knew it was evil, I knew it was wrong, but I wanted the fame so much that I was willing to give everything and take a human life,” Chapman explained. He has been serving a 20-years-to-life sentence at a prison in New York’s Hudson Valley and is 67 years old.
“I wanted to be somebody and nothing was going to stop that,” Chapman reportedly added. “I hurt a lot of people all over the place and if someone wants to hate me, that’s ok,...

The first season of FX’s American Horror Story had just aired its 12th and final episode and it was a shockingly conclusive one. The following day, creator Ryan Murphy hopped on the phone with the press to reveal that the story presented in the first season of the show (retroactively dubbed American Horror Story: Murder House) was definitively over and future seasons of the show would feature new characters, new locations, and new plot lines. In short, American Horror Story was a surprise anthology series, something that Murphy and fellow co-creator Brad Falchuk had planned from the start.
Some 11 years later, the decision to turn American Horror Story into an anthology does not seem that radical. In the streaming era, many shows opt to continue on as anthologies after wrapping up a story to their satisfaction in season 1. Some recent examples include The Terror,...

Alfonso Cuarón's "Children of Men" was poorly marketed and almost too dystopian for audiences when it first debuted in theaters in 2006. Based on the 1992 novel by P.D. James, the world of "Men" is slowly crumbling and turning to chaos because of a mysterious affliction causing the act of child birth to become obsolete. Women can no longer conceive. Knowing that the human civilization now has a finite amount of time blankets the world, specifically London in the year 2021 (!), in a deep malaise and cultural depression.
In the first scene of Cuarón's near masterpiece, the youngest person in the world, who has become a mega-celebrity, is suddenly killed. Hearing the news, most people begin to mourn in much the same way they did when John Lennon passed away in 1980. The ghost of Lennon and his legacy as a political activist is channeled by Michael Caine's laid back character Jasper Palmer...

Julian Lennon has released a new climate emergency-themed single in partnership with forest conservation marketing organisation Everland.
The single, titled “Change”, was commissioned by the company to raise awareness for the immediate need to act for the climate.
In the song, the Grammy-nominated son of John Lennon sings: “So gather up our courage for the road lies ahead / if we don’t do this together, we’ll surely end up dead”
He continues: “And we’ll put the past behind us, clean the air and clean the sea / feed the world with human kindness / love will set us free.”
The chorus then comes in: “We’re going to change the world together, you and I and everyone forever.”
The song aligns with the work of Lennon’s nonprofit, The White Feather Foundation, which aims to support conservation and Indigenous cultures.

Mark David Chapman, the man responsible for shooting and killing John Lennon outside his Manhattan apartment, has been denied parole for the 12th time, New York corrections officials said.
Chapman, 67, went before a parole board at the end of August, the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision said, according to NBC News.
The transcript from the 12th occasion where the killer of the famed Beatle went before the board has not been publicly available, but in previous hearings the 67-year-old had expressed remorse at what he carried out on 8 December 1980.
During his previous hearing in 2020, he described his actions on that day more than 40 years ago as “despicable” and told the board that he would have “no complaint whatsoever” if they opted to keep him behind bars for the rest of his life.

Hollywood is filled with stories about actors deliberately gaining or losing weight in order to play a specific part. Joaquin Phoenix lost a whopping 52 pounds for 2019's "Joker," and both Natalie Portman and Mila Kunas lost significant amounts of weight for "Black Swan," a film that required them to have the physique of a true ballerina. Jared Leto gained over 60 pounds to play Mark David Chapman in "Chapter 27," which caused him some serious health issues, and we can't forget Renee Zellweger's often controversial weight gain to play Bridget in the "Bridget Jones" films. In short: in Hollywood, it's all about looking...

John Lennon passed away 17 years before the invention of Auto-Tune in 1997, but if you’re curious what the late Beatles frontman and “Imagine” singer would have thought of using the technology in his music, apparently he would have been extremely into it.
We know this thanks to producer Mark Ronson’s documentary series “Watch the Sound” for Apple TV+, in which he interviewed Lennon’s son Sean Ono Lennon, and ran some of John’s vocals through Auto-Tune and a digital harmonizer to create an entirely new, yet still familiar sound.
John Lennon’s composing partner Paul McCartney told Ronson in the first episode of “Watch the Sound” that he thinks John would have actually loved to play around with Auto-Tune. “I’d say that if John Lennon had had an opportunity he would have been all over it,” McCartney said. “Not so much to fix your voice, but just to play with it.

Some stories you might have heard about Oscar winner Jared Leto and his methodology for preparing for a role and staying in character: he gained so much weight to play John Lennon’s killer Mark David Chapman in “Chapter 27” that he developed gout, he fired off a series of bizarre “gifts” to his “Suicide Squad” co-stars (from rats to bullets), he pretended to be homeless for weeks to prep for “Requiem for a Dream,” the list goes on and on.
As Leto readies to present his next big role to the world — playing a serial killer in John Lee Hancock’s “The Little Things,” out later this month — the actor has some thoughts on all those (not always nice) claims that he tends to go “full Method” in his prep. During a recent appearance on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast (via The Playlist), Leto was asked about his reputation for getting,...
