On one level, Elvis Presley‘s “(You’re the) Devil in Disguise” is a light, fun pop song. On another level, it’s a Christian sermon disguised as a fun pop song. The track has parallels to some famous passages of the Bible. After all, Saint Paul himself believed that the devil could take on different forms in order to deceive people.
Elvis Presley’s ‘(You’re the) Devil in Disguise’ recalls a biblical warning
Unlike a lot of heavy metal songs that came after it, “(You’re the) Devil in Disguise” is not literally about the devil. It’s about a woman who appears angelic at first before the narrator realizes that she’s devilish. The lyrics echo 2 Corinthians 11: 13-15, where Paul the Apostle warns the early Christian community about deceivers in their midst.
“People are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ,” he wrote. “And no wonder,...

Released in 20008, Wall-e is a fun animated adventure with awesome computer-generated graphics. It teaches us important lessons about commercialism and how global waste can harm our planet.
Wall-e
Though Wall-e is a family film, a fan theory says there’s a deeper (and unnoticed) meaning behind this Disney’s film. They think Wall-e might symbolize Satan. This discovery came after 16 years of the movie release which has sparked discussions among fans about what the film really means.
Suggested“The movie itself needs to go”: Jurassic World Faces Major Setback as Director David Leitch Abandons Project Within Days of Announcement in Surprise Move
A Fan Made Surprising Interpretation, Claiming Wall-e Represents Satan
Wall-e in a still from the titular movie
Wall-e is super cute and loveable, definitely one of Pixar’s best characters. He’s like a kid, always curious and exploring. The movie shows him as innocent, sweet, and kind of naive.

In 1976, audiences met Damien, a child who may or may not be the Antichrist! (Spoiler: he absolutely is). Cashing in on the religious horror craze jump-started by 1973's "The Exorcist," Richard Donner's "The Omen" follows a diplomat (Gregory Peck) who comes to believe his adopted son is the spawn of Satan. Meanwhile, anyone who gets close to the truth seems to end up dead in horrific ways. The end result is an effective horror flick with a killer musical score courtesy of Jerry Goldsmith.
Since "The Omen" is nearly 50 years old, many of the film's cast — and its director — have shuffled off this mortal coil. But two of the film's major players are still with us. So let's take a look at the only major actors still alive from 1976's "The Omen."

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and two dozen members of Congress assembled at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., last week for the second-annual National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance. The event was chock-a-block with Christian nationalist pastors and featured a clarion call for spiritual warfare, with members of Congress beseeching fellow Christians to “tie the hands of Satan” and to “bind the demonic forces” that are supposedly possessing America.

It seems the Korean entertainment industry is focusing on mental health and suicide as subject matter for their shows recently. Most attempts have been successful at presenting these difficult subjects with a non-prejudiced lens and an optimistic light. Death’s Game is the latest to join this list of mental-health shows, which, according to me, catapulted as a genre in the country after the success of The Glory. Now, I know that show doesn’t have anything to do with mental health or suicide; it’s basically a revenge thriller; however, it brings to light the effects of school bullying and such, which I believe could’ve been a tiny impulse for these deep-dive shows. While Daily Dose of Sunshine was the most straightforward of the lot, really pushing the envelope when it comes to all things mental health and the taboo around it in the country, Revenant was the show...

“The First Omen,” a prequel to the 1976 horror film “The Omen,” has released its terrifying first trailer.
It follows a woman, Margaret (Nell Tiger Free), who goes to Rome to fully commit to the church. However, she soon faces the emergence of a deadly evil.
Along with Tiger Free, the cast of the horror film includes Bill Nighy, Ralph Ineson and Sônia Braga. The pteque marks the feature directorial debut of Arkasha Stevenson. The writers are Stevenson, Tim Smith and Keith Thomas from a story by Ben Jacoby.
“The Omen” told the story of Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) and his wife, Katherine “Kathy” Thorn (Lee Remick), adopting a son whom they name Damien (Harvey Spencer Stevens). After a series of ominous events, including Damien deliberately knocking Kathy over a balcony and causing her to miscarry, it is revealed that Damien is the son of Satan and the Antichrist. In 1976, audiences were introduced to Damien, a little kid with jet-black hair who may or may not be the Antichrist (spoiler: he is/was). In "The Omen," a diplomat (Gregory Peck) and his wife (Lee Remick) become the parents of a bouncing baby boy. But there's a twist: the diplomat is told that their actual baby died during childbirth. Rather than go home empty-handed, Peck's character is convinced to adopt another baby. He passes the child off as his own and neglects to tell his wife about the whole "our real kid died" thing. Men, am I right? Anyway, as it turns out, the child the couple welcomes into their home ends up being the spawn of Satan, and that could spell certain doom for us all.
"The Omen," which was helmed by "Superman" director Richard Donner, was a box office hit and has since become a horror classic.

As Phoebe Cates’ character Kate Beringer in Gremlins famously monologued, the holidays tend to drudge up painful memories and sorrow for many. Lea Glob approaches the subject of her award-winning documentary, Apolonia, Apolonia, with a devout curiosity. Apolonia, a French painter whom the director met in 2009, is a striking figure. She is wide-eyed and brunette with bangs that stop, almost abruptly, in the middle of her forehead. She moves with an arresting ease, commanding rooms like stage actors do theater audiences. In the first scene of the film, shot in 2013, the artist flits about her tiny apartment, preparing for her 26th birthday party. She dismisses dress options like a countess among her attendants and demands attention from her friends in a similarly regal manner. Her smile, a toothy grin outlined by vivid lipstick colors, courts mischief. Her eyes inspire questions.
Who is Apolonia? Glob’s meditative doc is, initially, desperate to know. The beginning of Apolonia, Apolonia chronicles those years when Glob sheepishly assumed the role of director and the artist her subject.

To hell with equivocation: Days of Heaven is the greatest film ever made. And let the word “film” be emphasized, since Terrence Malick’s sophomore feature earns this exalted designation from its position as a work of pure cinema, a concoction of sound and image so formally sumptuous and yet effortlessly poignant that, when I first saw it as a high schooler, it shattered my previous preconceptions about the possibilities afforded by the art form.
To an extent far greater than in his exceptional 1973 debut feature, Badlands, what Malick does in Days of Heaven is convey virtually everything of import through visual and sonic means, his tale, often denigrated as sketchy, left purposely simple and slender so that it might be elevated to the realm of timeless archetype via plaintive aestheticism. Malick’s directorial gestures wholly meld with the story, as every dramatically tangential stare at the vast 1920 Texas panhandle landscape,...

For what was originally intended to be an educational kid’s show that used time-travel as an excuse for history lessons, it’s amazing just how much BBC’s Doctor Who has evolved since its debut back in 1963. From low-budget war stories taking advantage of existing period-piece sets to small-screen epics featuring CGI that rivals many modern blockbusters, there’s something here for everyone – even horror fans.
In fact, the show has a long history of scaring its viewers, with even genre creators like Neil Gaiman famously claiming to have watched certain episodes from behind the couch to protect himself from its numerous monsters. And with this sci-fi saga currently celebrating its 60th anniversary, we thought that this might be a good time to highlight six of the scariest monsters from the 60 years of Doctor Who history.

This is it. The season two finale of the HBO Original Series “30 Coins” arrives on Monday, December 11, concluding a season long, high stakes battle between our heroes and ruthless enemies led by sycophant billionaire Christian Barbrow (Paul Giamatti).

Between Thanksgiving and It’s a Wonderful Knife, it’s been an especially rewarding year for seasonal slasher fans, an esteemed group that Santa Isn’t Real does not join. Writer and director Zac Locke’s low-budget Christmas massacre barely has a pulse until the final few minutes, only thanks to a few teaspoons of gore. Performances are stiff, characters have no spatial awareness with a killer on the loose, and technical elements can get pretty ugly, all dooming this snoozy Christmas Horror dud to the naughty list.
The film opens with the eggnog-sipping Nikki (Kaya Coleman) cozying up by the fire after setting red frosted cookies and milk by a decorated tree per Christmas traditions. Much to Nikki’s surprise, Santa shimmies down her chimney — and slices her arm open with a kitchen knife before bashing her unconscious with a snowglobe. A year later, Nikki wakes from her coma...

Former Monty Python member, animator and visionary director Terry Gilliam told Variety at the Red Sea Film Festival on Sunday that he wants Johnny Depp to play Satan in his new film “Carnival at the End of Days.”
Gilliam summarized the plot as: “God wipes out humanity and the only character who wants to save them is Satan, and Johnny Depp plays Satan.”
Gilliam was attending the screening at Red Sea of a double bill of the documentaries “Lost in La Mancha” and “He Dreams of Giants,” both of which document Gilliam’s cursed and grueling attempt to make the film “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.” The film ultimately premiered in Cannes in 2018, starring Jonathan Pryce and Adam Driver.

Lil Nas X is responding to critics of a spiritual song that he shared on social media and correcting the narrative about his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” music video.
Earlier this week, the 24-year-old “Industry Baby” hitmaker left people wondering if he was trolling after announcing that he was entering his “Christian era.”
He did so by teasing a new song that saw him speaking to God.
The video attracted criticism as people wondered if it was a joke or a serious declaration of faith. Some went as far as to accuse him of mocking God and Jesus.
The rapper took to social media to address those accusations.

Are multiverses consistent with Christian theology? Personally, I have my doubts, but in Angel Studios’ religious-minded sci-fi thriller “The Shift,” the notion that there could be infinite parallel realities offers an original, if flawed model to test its main character’s faith.
Here’s how it works: A churchgoing man named Kevin (Kristoffer Polaha) meets and marries his dream woman, Molly (Elizabeth Tabish), only to have his happy life whisked away from him by a steely-eyed stranger who calls himself “the Benefactor” (Neal McDonough). Kevin’s desperate to get back to his wife, but this Benefactor guy seems determined to rattle his convictions, trying to force Kevin to reject his beliefs and go along with the rest of society’s atheist attitudes.
That’s where the movie’s other big biblical connection comes in. “The Shift” is billed as a contemporary retelling of the book of Job, in which God...

Lil Nas X is belatedly celebrating Christian Girl Autumn.
The 24-year-old “Industry Baby” rapper took to social media on Wednesday (November 29) to tease a new song, and it’s a major thematic curveball from the hitmaker who gave Satan a lap dance in a music video just a few years ago.
Since then, he has seemingly repented, shimmied up the stripper pole and entered “his Christian era.”
While introducing the new era in his life and career, Lil Nas X also commented on his sexuality. However, fans are wondering if it might all be another troll from the artist who is as famous for his jokes as he is his music.

From The Cabin in the Woods to House of Leaves, meta-horror can be one of the most entertaining sub-genres for die-hard fans when made by passionate creators. However, I think videogames are the medium with the most potential when it comes to immersing us in meta-narratives. I mean, the very concept of someone controlling a character’s actions through an interactive experience already adds an additional layer to the story, so it makes sense that developers might try and use this fragile fourth wall to scare players.
In 2023, we saw an excellent example of this in Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2, a long-awaited love-letter to survival-horror that relishes in simulating both gaming and storytelling tropes. And if you loved the game as much as I did, you might find yourself craving for even more meta scares – which is why we’ve come up with this list recommending 6 of the creepiest meta-horror games in recent memory.

Tales of musicians who sold their soul for fame are common enough, Crossroads, Trick or Treat, Dark Roads 79 and The 27 Club are just a few examples. The Devil Went Down to Islington is a little different, however. It tells the tale of a music teacher who makes a Faustian bargain while drunk, only to panic when he realizes what he’s done.
It actually opens like a bizarre action film with Father Crowley using switchblade crosses to fight a pair of masked figures who are attacking a panicked man. He defeats them, but in the end Satan claims another soul.

On Friday nights — and special occasions! — IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: God Gives His Toughest Battles to His Strongest Pickle Salesmen
The episodic anthology is, by definition, the biggest mixed bag of a genre you’ll ever find on television. For every early season of “Black Mirror” and “The Twilight Zone” there’s a “Romanoffs” and… well, the recent seasons of “Black Mirror.” By eschewing serialization and giving creators freedom to tell self-contained stories in each episode, you create opportunities for fascinating one-offs that wouldn’t fit into any other medium. But you’re also inevitably left...

Sony Pictures Classics has dropped the teaser trailer for the feature “Freud’s Last Session” starring two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode that imagines a daylong conversation between famed psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud (Hopkins) and author C.S. Lewis (Goode) on September 3, 1939, two days after Hitler invaded Poland and three weeks before Freud’s death from cancer. Watch the trailer above.
As the film opens, the threat of German bombs rattles England, and Freud – seriously ill with the cancer that would soon take his life – has fled Nazi forces invading his homeland and brought his family from Vienna to London, where he’s visited by author and Oxford theologian Lewis. Lewis – whose “Chronicles of Narnia” books would later bring him worldwide acclaim – is an atheist turned devout Christian hoping to confront the Father of Psychoanalysis about the gap between science and religion and faith and logic, and how studying the mind...

Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis battle over the existence of God on the eve of World War II in Freud’s Last Session.
The first trailer for the Sony Pictures Classics film starring Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode released on Wednesday, and sees the two actors portraying the famed psychologist and author, respectively.
“Why would you come here to see me if you disagree so passionately with my views?” Hopkins’ Freud asks Goode’s Lewis from across his office desk.
It’s two days after Hitler has invaded Poland, as German bombs rattle England, Freud — who fled Vienna following Nazi forces’ presence in his homeland — is now visited by the theologian Lewis in London. The list of Oscar-winning directors for short films who have gone on to major careers in the feature-length realm is shorter than you might imagine. Andrea Arnold, Martin McDonagh and Claude Berri achieved arthouse success; David Frankel made multiplex hits like “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Marley & Me.” But perhaps only Taylor Hackford, a winner in 1979 for an affecting little mockumentary titled “Teenage Father,” became a full-scale Hollywood brand — a name associated with a certain temperature of sleek studio gloss and versatile genre smarts.
In an industry increasingly given over to auteur reverence, Hackford has instead consistently proven the essential value of the distinguished craftsman — the kind that keeps the industry running, even if the status doesn’t earn you as many glittering prizes or prestigious festival berths. Consider the Festival Lumière’s tribute to Hackford a welcome exception. The four films selected by the festival to represent the...

Dracula, one of the most popular horror creations in literature, continues to stoke the insatiable desire of fans over a century since he first flew out of the pages of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel.
The vampire lord’s bloody adventures have graced not just books but comics, films, TV shows, and other media. But few have looked under the cape to see how the undead man became the fearsome legend that entranced readers.
Now, just in time for Halloween, two veteran comic creators have teamed up to tell the story of how Dracula became Dracula.
Matt Wagner, the indie creator behind Mage and Grendel, and also known for his Batman work, and artist Kelly Jones, whose macabre stylings evoke horror artist Bernie Wrightson, are crowdfunding a graphic novel trilogy exploring the lore of the vampire king. The books will be 112-page gothic epics, with the first one titled Dracula – Book 1: The Impaler.

The first of many great moments in Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie: Right as the lights went down, the girl in Row H spoke up. “Oh my God, I should have asked permission before now, but we’re all gonna sing, right?” she pleaded in the dark. “Because I wanna sing!” A woman seated a few rows in front replied, “Sing loud and proud, sister.” And that’s all the discussion anyone needed about that. A 26-year-old evangelical Christian with a taste for outdoor adventure, he undertook a one-man mission in 2018 to North Sentinel Island, an extremely remote and unreached part of India, to bring the gospel of Jesus to the Sentinelese.
