Law & Order Svu has teased a possible romance between Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler for years now. Actor Chris Meloni revealed his thoughts not too long ago about a relationship between the two characters actually happening.

Meloni and Hargitay were aware of their chemistry the moment they met. The two formed a quick bond with each other even before doing their screentest. One of their first memories together was Meloni making Hargitay laugh by telling her a story. Their bond was only solidified after auditioning together, which would create a friendship that would last for decades.
“I walked in, saw him, and I went, ‘That guy. That’s the guy.’ It went deep, very fast. We both knew that it was something big,” Hargitay told People not too long ago.

Giddish was welcomed with open arms when she was first cast in Svu. It could’ve been an intimidating process for the actor. Mariska Hargitay’s Powerless Moment Against Dick Wolf’s Decision Mariska Hargitay, admired for her long-standing role as Olivia Benson and as an executive producer on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, faced a situation where even her considerable influence couldn’t sway a significant decision. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Law & Order: Svu Season 25 Episode 11 “Prima Nocta.”] Heading into this season, Svu had a Rollins problem. And no, we’re not just talking about the fact that the show is not the same without her, and we want Kelli Giddish back on the cast full-time. It’s the simple matter of the show establishing that she’s bored teaching, would clearly much rather be back with the squad, and hasn’t really told her husband, Carisi (Peter Scanavino). This one episode addresses all of that. First of all, we have to acknowledge how adorable the family is at home together, with Rollins hiding a pancake in Carisi’s briefcase and the girls telling their father before the couple sees the kids off to school. Then, we find out that Rollins is unemployed! That’s right: She turned down tenure. “I was bored being a professor,” she says (which everyone already knew). With ...

Law & Order Svu has put its cast through some difficult episodes. Actors like Mariska Hargitay have been very candid in the past about how the show’s darker subject matter affected her. But Kelli Giddish might’ve been even more disturbed by certain episodes, especially ones involving children.
How Kelli Giddish dealt with the tougher episodes of ‘Law & Order Svu’ Kelli Giddish | Arturo Holmes/WireImage
Giddish knew what she was signing up for when she was first cast in Svu. She’d already guest-starred on Law & Order Svu as another character four years prior to landing the role of Amanda Rollins. She even appeared in Wolf’s other spin-off Criminal Intent. But guest-starring on the show was much different than being a series-regular.
As detective Rollins, Giddish was consistently exposed to more than a few haunting crimes. Some of which could be hard to shake off when Giddish could relate to them personally.

Maybe the third time’s the charm? Kelli Giddish is returning for a third time to Law & Order: Svu since her exit in the middle of Season 24 (let’s not count her Organized Crime episodes for the sake of the argument). She’ll be reprising her role as Amanda Rollins, Svu detective-turned-criminology professor, in the 11th episode of Season 25. There are not yet details available about what brings her back this time, but thanks to photos Mariska Hargitay (who plays Captain Olivia Benson) shared, we know that Giddish is currently filming. Giddish left in the ninth episode of Season 24, then returned later that season for its finale. She also guest-starred in the Season 25 premiere. And a common thread of both appearances is that she’s not exactly thrilled with her new position. In fact, our biggest question heading into Season 25 was if Svu would ever address that. At the end of last season,...

It’s a good day for fans of Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu, as NBC has officially picked up both legal dramas for the 2024-25 season.
This exciting news means that Law & Order will continue for Season 24, and Law & Order: Svu will continue for Season 26.
The renewals were announced alongside the pickups of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D.
Ominously missing from the renewals was the Christopher Meloni-led Law & Order: Organized Crime, currently in its fourth season, but the network is saying that the show’s future is “in discussion.”
The youngest entry in the sprawling Law & Order universe has been saddled with behind-the-scenes issues since its inception and has gone through countless showrunners.
The series typically takes on more serialized storylines as opposed to the procedural nature of the other two Thursday night dramas.

Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu will be back for the 2024-25 season after NBC renewed the pair of shows but spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime is in a slightly more precarious position.
The network has renewed Law & Order for Season 24, while Law & Order: Svu will be back for Season 26.
The future of Law & Order: Organized Crime, which is in its fourth season, is still in discussion at the network. It has been the lowest rated of Dick Wolf’s NBC shows and has had a number of showrunners over its course. Matt Olmstead started out as showrunner, replaced by Ilene Chaiken, who was replaced by Barry O’Brien. Bryan Goluboff was named showrunner for Season 3 but left after three months, replaced by Sean Jablonski, who also left shortly after due to “creative differences” and was replaced by David Graziano. John Shiban is showrunner for Season 4.

Kelli Giddish’s fans will be giddy to learn they haven’t seen the last of her on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The former Svu series regular departed the NBC procedural midway through Season 24 but returned to play Amanda Rollins for that season’s finale and again for the premiere of the show’s ongoing 25th season. Now Giddish will bring Rollins back to Svu again for Episode 11, Deadline reports. No air date for that installment has been announced, but if Svu airs new episodes each week, Episode 11 could hit screens as early as Thursday, April 11. Ralph Bavaro/NBC NBC also hasn’t revealed plot details for Giddish’s next return, but considering that Giddish is so far only returning for one more episode, fans can expect that Rollins will still be holding her job as a Fordham University professor and not returning to the Special Victims Unit full-time.

Kelli Giddish may be out as a Law & Order: Svu series regular, but it seems she’s not done with the show.
Deadline broke the news that the Amanda Rollins star had closed a deal to return for another episode — her third since departing in 2022.
A lot had changed for Rollins when she returned last year, with the beloved character revealing her pregnancy with her third child.
Given that Peter Scanavino, who plays Rollins’ husband Dominic “Sonny” Carisi, remains with the show, there were some concerns the two lovers would be dragged apart after Giddish was let go as a series regular.
Thankfully, the Dick Wolf procedural has found a way to keep them together, and we’ve been getting updates on how Rollins is doing because we don’t see her regularly any longer.

Law & Order: Svu’s Episode 3 Will Be ‘Very Different’ From the Norm, Guest Star David Krumholtz Says
David Krumholtz is no stranger to the Law & Orderverse: He guest-starred in the original series and played a mushroom-obsessed murder suspect in Svu Season 12. But when he shows up Thursday in the current season’s Episode 3, he told TVLine, you should expect something a little out of the ordinary.
First off, in the same way that Kelli Giddish played a rape victim years before she became Det. Amanda Rollins, Krumholtz is portraying a completely new character. “I’m a victim this time, but I won’t give anything else away,” Krumholtz said at a recent celebration of Svu‘s 25th season.
