Ever since Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Pi, Requiem for a Dream) jumped ship from The Wolverine, we have wondered which beach he would finally wash up on. Needless to say, the critical acclaim (and now apparently hefty Bo receipts) enjoyed by Black Swan gave Aronofsky some breadth of choice and accordingly, we hear he may team up with George Clooney for a sci-fi project by the name of Human Nature.
The last film we saw with that name featured an exceedingly hirsuite Rhys Ifans, with Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman giving us their typically skewed look at humanity. We find ourselves in very different territory this time around, however.
Human Nature is an original sci-fi script by Jeff Welch, which has apparently been knocking around for more than a decade. Welch hasn’t much else at all to his name, but then at one point neither did Tarantino or Kaufman,...

Vulture brings news that Darren Aronofsky, after backing out of The Wolverine, is now eyeing a new project called Human Nature. The fifteen-year-old original spec script from Jeff Welch tells of a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species. George Clooney has attached himself for the lead role. Warner Bros.-based Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend) is currently budgeting the project, but given Clooney's attachment and the Warner's possible involvement, it sounds like the film could be a larger production than we're accustomed to seeing from Aronofsky. I suppose that was bound to happen after the breakthrough success of Black Swan. Human Nature could be his next project if things progress as planned, though I have no idea what that means for his other proposed projects (Machine Men, Jackie and The Tiger). Stay tuned.

In Hollywood, new relationships are as common as dirt. [Editor's note: That's meant as a simile, not a judgmental accusation — but you make the call.] But there's a promising new pairing that's drawing more attention than the usual La-La Land union: Darren Aronofsky and George Clooney. Shocking? Not so much. Actually, it's closer to science fiction!
Entertainment site Vulture is reporting that Aronofsky and Clooney are teaming to make a sci-fi flick called Human Nature, written by Jeff Welch, which will star Clooney as "a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species."
This combination isn't as strange as it sounds. Aronofsky — noted egghead filmmaker whose recent Black Swan proved there was a market for smart genre flicks — was all set to helm The Wolverine, the next cinematic chapter in the life of the most popular X-Man. The thought of this had geeks everywhere frothing at the mouth, by the way. But Aronofsky pulled out recently,...

After announcing a couple of months ago that he would not be directing Fox’s ‘The Wolverine’, Darren Aronofsky has taken a step back and set his sights on a sci-fi project called Human Nature. The spec script for the film is written by a relatively unknown writer called Jeff Welch. Oddly enough the screenplay has since been hovering around Hollywood for the last fifteen years, but finally looks set to see the light of day. The latest news also has ‘Up in the Air’ star George Clooney attached to feature in the project.
Clooney, being the big-name Hollywood actor that he is, has a typically busy schedule and will star in the upcoming comedy drama, ‘The Descendants’, and the dramatic film, ‘The Ides of March’ later this year. If Clooney does sign on for Human Nature, he...

Darren Aronofsky said goodbye to Wolverine two months ago,. Now he's eyeing Human Nature with George Clooney. The script, written by Jeff Welch, is fifteen years old, and follows a cryogenically frozen man who wakes up to discover that humans are now pets to another species. While it seems there's a new sci-fi-future tale every five minutes, we're guessing this one has something unique if it got Aronofsky's attention. If Warner Bros. producer Akiva Goldsman's budget turns dollars into good sense, this could be the Black Swan director's next project, and a long-awaited career boost for the otherwise unknown Welch, whose lone credit is a 2004 TV movie called Bet Your Life. Aronofsky has been attached to a few other projects, but since awards season ...

He won't be directing Robocop. He won't be directing Wolverine. Will Darren Aronofsky instead be taking the controls for Human Nature?According to Vulture, that's exactly what's happening, the Black Swan director apparently signing on to direct a fifteen year old script by Jeff Welch with George Clooney attached to star. It's a science fiction picture revolving around a man - Clooney - who is woken from a cryogenic sleep to discover that humans have now become pets for other species of animal. Why get excited about a script that's been sitting around for fifteen years without being produced? Well, according to a studio insider who just wrote me about it, the reason it hasn't been produced is because it's one of the 'three most fucked...

If you ask us, we'll tell you: Darren Aronofsky has never made a bad film. And then we'll go ahead and add: Screw you, The Fountain was great. So, we're still disappointed and frustrated that the director won't be reuniting with Fountain star Hugh Jackman (See!) for The Wolverine. While it can't really compare with a movie about a guy with ubreakable freaking claws, news about the Black Swan director's next film does have us pretty excited.
Aronofsky might return to both time-travel and science fiction (two subjects heavily mined in The Fountain, Fyi) by directing Human Nature from a 15-year-old script by a guy named Jeff Welch. But what's really interesting about the possible project is who is currently attached to co-star: George Clooney.
You see, the tree is the tree of life, man, and he's bald because...well, listen it's the tree of life, Ok?

Darren Aronofsky may not be making The Wolverine, but he could have found his next project in sci-fi Human Nature. A spec script by Jeff Welch that’s been hovering around Hollywood for 15 years, Nature follows a man who wakes up after being cryogenically frozen and discovers that humans are now the pets of another species. Which is one heck of a concept that could be played out for laughs and horror in equal measure. (Expect PETA to get behind this one.) It has been two months since Darren Aronofsky opted out of helming "The Wolverine", now it looks like he's finally settled on what he'll do instead.
Vulture reports that the "Black Swan" director is keen on pursuing a film adaptation of Jeff Welch's 1996 original sci-fi spec script called "Human Nature".
George Clooney is reportedly attaching himself to star as a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species.
Akiva Goldsman is producing and reportedly currently budgeting the movie which would be Aronofsky's next film.

Aronofsky, Clooney, sci-fi, excited yet? I know I am, as word is coming out that the next project for Aronofsky as a director is Human Nature, a sci-fi film. Jeff Welch wrote the script and it has been floating around for a good few years, and reports are stating that Akiva Goldsman is currently budgeting it. Clooney is currently attached as the star to play a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species. Sounds interesting to me, let’s hope this is one project that can see the light of day!

He may not direct The Wolverine but that isn’t going to stop director Darren Aronofsky from finding another project to fit into his personal schedule. Will Darren Aronofsky Direct George Clooney In A Sci-Fi Pic?
Vulture is telling us that director Darren Aronofsky, coming off the very successful Black Swan, has attached himself to a new project. which is said to be his next film. He's looking to direct a 15-year-old spec script from writer Jeff Welch called Human Nature. Sounds a bit too similar to Planet of the Apes if you ask me. Vulture is also reporting that George Clooney is attached to star and Akiva Goldsman will develop the film.

Vulture is reporting that Aronofsky is now attached to a project called Human Nature, a 15-year-old spec script from writer Jeff Welch about a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species. Vulture doesn't have any other details on this script, including who or what this other species is, but I'm definitely interested. Even after dropping out of high first foray into mainstream blockbusters with The Wolverine, Darren Aronofsky is piling up potential projects left and right. The latest to add to the stack is a sci-fi film titled Human Nature, Vulture reports. A big star has also attached his name, in the form of George Clooney.
Coming from a 15-year-old spec script by Jeff Welch, the film stars “a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species.” I Am Legend producer Akiva Goldsman who is also prepping The Dark Tower and Logan’s Run is currently planning the budget and if all goes well, this “will likely” be the next project for the Black Swan director.
Aronofsky dabbled in sci-fi with his modern masterpiece The Fountain, but I can’t wait to see how he creates his own futuristic world.

It’s been a quiet two months for Darren Aronofsky who broke the hearts of geeks everywhere when he pulled out of making The Wolverine with Hugh Jackman just days after the Japanese tsunami – but a report at Vulture tonight emerges and hints at what could end up being his next film.
They say the Oscar nominated Black Swan director has dusted off a fifteen year old sci-fi spec script titled Human Nature from Jeff Welch at Warner Bros, a screenwriter once attached to write a Doc. Strange movie that never happened.
Human Nature has caught the interest of George Clooney who has effectively attached himself as ‘a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species’ – which is more or less the plot of Planet of the Apes, isn’t it?

Briefly: We're going to keep this short, because not a lot of info is available, but Darren Aronofsky and George Clooney may be teaming to make a film based on the sci-fi script Human Nature. The Jeff Welch script has been around for quite a few years -- fifteen or so. It has been at Warner Bros., and Vulture [1] says that Akiva Goldsman is working on budgeting it now. George Clooney is attached to star as "a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species." Shades of quite a few other films there, but with the Aronofsky/Clooney pairing I'd watch it in a heartbeat. More as this develops; meanwhile, comment below on the potential merits of this as opposed to The Wolverine [2], or other teased projects like Intricate [3], Noah [4] and/or Machine Man [5].
