The mild initial curiosity stirred by Zoom-shot movies died quickly, because so few of them were watchable, and because filmmakers quickly found workarounds to create more fluid entertainments while still observing Covid precautionary measures. Thus “Zero Contact” arrives as a novelty that’s already more than worn out its welcome, aiming for dubious additional distinction as “the world’s first star-powered feature film Nft.” (It was released in that form last September — whether anyone actually purchased it as such is unknown.)
We’ll just gingerly step around that factoid, as the aptly named “Zero Contact” has plenty of more tangible ways in which it is a steaming pile of nada. Producer turned first-time director Rick Dugdale and screenwriter Cam Cannon’s would-be thriller has five globally-scattered protagonists yelling at their screens during a conference call in which the fate of all humanity supposedly hangs in the balance from some murky high-tech threat.

"I always expected great things of this world..." Lionsgate has debuted another new trailer for the mystery thriller, wacky sci-fi project called Zero Contact, described as one of the very first Nft movies. We already wrote about this film last year, as they tried to release it on an Nft viewing platform (I don't think anyone watched it). Zero Contact follows five characters all over the world, connected only by their devotion to the late founder and tech titan Finley Hart, played by Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins. Upon his death, five remote agents — including his son — are contacted by a mysterious A.I. entity to reactivate the initiative, which may enable time travel. As sinister events transpire at each of their homes, they must decide whether entering their passwords will save the world... or destroy it. The film stars Hopkins, Aleks Paunovic, Tuva Novotny, Rukiya Bernard, Veronica Ferres, Adrian Holmes, Lilly Krug,...

First, NBC canceled Scrubs after seven seasons, then ABC picked it up before scrapping it again after season 9. By the time the ax finally fell on the hospital sitcom in 2010, creator Bill Lawrence had to agree that the show had come to a fair end. “We filmed so many episodes that I feel like it had played its full course,” says Lawrence, who tells EW that he currently has no plans to pursue a movie continuation of the series, despite the wishes of some fans. “You could argue Veronica Mars got cut short in its lifespan, but for us, I...

"The Sing-Off" is back on NBC with 16 all new a capella groups ready to wow us with their vocal acrobatics. The eight groups performing during the two-hour premiere are: Yellowjackets, Urban Method, Cat's Pajamas, Kinfolk 9, Vocal Point, Fannin Family, Afro-Blue and Delilah.
1. Yellowjackets, World Cup Anthem "Wavin' Flag" by K'naan
This was a heckuva way to kick off the show. How uplifting. Great soloists and the key change was masterful. Excellent job. Some of the choreography was a little cheesy, but the story behind their performance was great. Shawn's critique that it was "powerful" was right on.
2. Fannin Family, "Who Says" by Selena Gomez
It's the Von Trapps of the 21st century! I am immediately struck by how well their voices blend, it's incredible. Youngest sib 14-uear-old Maria is the usual soloist, which is cool. She's very talented, but you can tell the backups are no slouches either. Another great performance.

Dundalk Community Theatre, located at Ccbc: The Community College of Baltimore County, 7200 Sollers Point Road, Baltimore, opens its 2009-2010 season with "The Taffetas: A Musical Journey through the fabulous 50's," Oct. 30-Nov. 8, 2009.
It's 1950-something, and Kaye, Peggy, Cheryl & Donna, four singing sisters from Muncie, Indiana are making their national television singing debut.
"Spotlight on Music," a fictitious weekly 1950's television show on the real-life Dumont Television Network, sets the framework for an evening of some of the greatest hits of the 1950's. A tribute to the girl groups of the 1950's, The Taffetas pay tribute to the sounds of The McGuire Sisters, The Fontane Sisters and The Chordettes.
Opening Off-Broadway almost two years before "Forever Plaid," The Taffetas made nostalgia what it is today! Spend an hour and a half with The Taffetas and their three piece band and remember what Sunday night television was like on your 12-inch black and white screen.

Multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre presents the hilarious Off-Broadway musical comedy hit, Bat Boy, The Musical. This campy, off-the-wall parody inspired by a supermarket tabloid story of a half-boy, half-bat keeps both tongue and fang firmly in cheek. The exuberant score mixes rock, Broadway, gospel, and country music in a smart, witty, self-aware comical confection. Award-winning director Jay Manley helms this fabulous cult hit with musical direction by Spencer Williams, and choreography by Andrew Ceglio (also the production's star). The talented cast of Bat Boy, The Musical includes Andrew Ceglio as both Bat Boy and the production choreographer (credits include Pippin at Foothill Music Theatre, Marquee Productions at Childrens Musical Theater San Jose, Theater on San Pedro, and Forever Plaid at Cabrillo Stage as director and choreographer); Kateri McRae returns to the Foothill stage as Bat Boy's young love, Shelley (previously seen as Mae in Foothill Music Theatre's The Pajama Game,...
