Two days had passed since Kiki Layne and Stephan James had attended their first Golden Globes and the “If Beale Street Could Talk” co-stars were still trying to wrap their heads around having been there.

The ratings for America's Next Top Model continued to drop last season but the numbers still look pretty good compared to man other TV shows on The CW. Will the numbers keep falling or will they rise this time around? Cancelled or renewed for a 23rd season? Stay tuned.

Enough with the talking about Adam's drinking. Is America's Next Top Model grabbing at straws for any kind of drama they can eek out of this group? And here we go again about Chantelle not fitting in. I admit these are real American issues -- alcoholism and isolation -- but I prefer a focus on the modeling, the clothing, the makeovers, the real life sacrifices for the craft, and the photo shoots which turn semi-regular looking faces into gods and goddesses. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I have reason to believe I'm not.

This week CW's America's Next Top Model starts off like the last three with an ad nauseam update about Mirjana and Denzel's on-again-off again relationship before we get anything else done. Miss J is back. Runway coach J. Alexander is returning to The CW's America's Next Top Model for its 21st cycle (he was let go along with Nigel Barker and Jay Manuel following the 18th cycle amid declining ratings but continued to appear on international editions of the modeling competition). Miss J replaces Rob Evans, joining executive producer/creator Tyra Banks and Kelly Cutrone on the judges' panel. (Creative director Johnny Wujek is being replaced by photographer Yu Tsai.) With only five nights of programming and two hours of programming per night, The CW's schedule has fewer pieces than any of the others that have been revealed this week, but the network's 2014-2015 lineup, announced on Thursday (May 15) morning, still held a few surprises. Just as last year you may have expected "The Originals" to get the Thursday 9 p.m. slot after "The Vampire Diaries," you may have assumed that "The Flash" would probably go in on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. after "Arrow." You'd have been wrong last year and this year both. And you might have anticipated The CW trying a different show after "The Vampire Diaries" on Thursdays next year given the only so-so numbers for "Reign." You really should stop assuming things. Instead, The CW announced a fall schedule that features only one new drama and one new hour-long comedy, leaving two new dramas and...

Steve McQueen's highly praised "12 Years a Slave" made its premiere at the New York Film Festival last Tuesday, and its stars were out in full force.
Already said to be one of the best films of the year (if not the best), McQueen's film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor ("Children of Men") as a free man in pre-Civil War America who is abducted and sold into slavery. "12 Years a Slave," which was our top film at the Toronto Film Festival last month, also stars Michael Fassbender, Sarah Paulson ("American Horror Story"), Brad Pitt, Paul Dano, Benedict Cumberbatch, and more.
Most of the cast showed up to pose on the red carpet at the Nyff along with a few special guests, including Madonna -- who was seemingly more attached to her cell phone than enthralled by the movie -- and TV personality J. Alexander. Check out the premiere photos below. "12 Years a...

Before we pass along this story, we admit it's a total hearsay scenario. That said, it's hearsay that's so delicious-- and truly, so completely believable-- that it demands to be shared. And in this era of heated battles over texting in theaters, it's high time we got a perfect scapegoat. That scapegoat, apparently, is Madonna. Not only did Madonna allegedly-- allegedly!-- text her way through the New York Film Festival premiere of 12 Years A Slave, but when told to be quiet, she allegedly-- allegedly!-- called that person an enslaver. During a movie about actual slavery! Here's the anecdote that's been making the rounds, via Indiewire: Tonight at the New York Film Festival premiere of '12 Years A Slave' (a masterpiece, by the way), [Name Removed] and I sat behind the unholy trifecta of Jason Ritter, J. Always the one to court controversy and attention wherever she goes, Madonna could not help but express herself during the New York Film Festival premiere of "12 Years A Slave" earlier this week. Fresh off releasing her short film "secretprojectrevolution" and spearheading a global initiative to protect freedom of expression, she was spotted at the screening of Steve McQueen's slavery drama exhibiting less-than-stellar moviegoing etiquette. The news originated from this Facebook post by film critic Charles Taylor, who passed along the following anecdote from a former student: Tonight at the New York Film Festival premiere of '12 Years A Slave' (a masterpiece, by the way), I sat behind the unholy trifecta of Jason Ritter, J. Alexander from 'America's Next Top Model,' and Michael K. Williams from 'The Wire.' Plus, a mysterious blonde in black lace gloves who wouldn't stop texting on her Blackberry throughout the first half of the movie.

Custo Barcelona’s Spring 2014 collection exuded a chic contemporarily colorful vibe on Sept. 8 at The Studio in Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week. With a total of 63 looks sauntering down the runway, he was sure to please!
Inspired by his own cultural identity, Custo Barcelona brought out bold structured overcoats that mixed in fringe, tribal prints and metallic sheen. Dresses, swimsuits and sheer chiffon overlays along-side mini shorts and intimates carried with them the bold brilliance we’ve come to love.
Custo Barcelona Spring 2014
“In this collection we bet on bringing our identity to the level of sophistication and refinement—fusion of colors and materials but very refined,” Custo told us backstage.
And sophisticated it was, with an eye-popping variety of colors. However, much of his menswear was a bit more casual, sporting loose knits and sneakers. There were some striking prints and fabrics in a few of his...

"America's Next Top Model" will be back for a Cycle 20 and this time it's returning with some testosterone. That's right, the next season "America's Next Top Model" will include male models.
Cycle 20 will debut in summer 2013. A specific premiere date has not yet been announced.
The male models will move into the same house as the female models, and the new cycle will include Cycle 19's added social media elements that let viewers vote for their favorite models.
There's no word on what the judge panel will look like for Cycle 20. Host and executive producer Tyra Banks shook up the series when she parted ways with Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and J. Alexander. The three were replaced with Johnny Wujek as photo shoot creative consultant, social media correspondent Bryanboy, and male model Rob Evans. The judge panel for Cycly 19 also included Kelly Cutrone.

For the longest time, reality competition shows enjoyed a relaxing situation atop primetime TV, drawing in large ratings and dominating water-cooler conversation.
The equation used to be simple: Bring together some entertaining average Joes and have them participate in various intense challenges, competing for prizes and eternal glory. But throughout the years, it seems these shows have felt a need to step up their games and increase the entertainment factor.
This year, an unprecedented number of reality competition shows have undergone extensive rebranding and rejuvenation attempts. Here’s the lowdown on what changes to expect from your favorite guilty pleasures:
Fox’s American Idol
The juggernaut of reality competition shows isn’t just undergoing a facelift — it’s getting some major reconstructive surgery. In fact, the only components resembling the American Idol born 11 seasons ago will be singing contestants and host Ryan Seacrest charming viewers.

Tyra Banks almost walked away from her hit modeling reality series "America's Next Top Model."

Former "America's Next Top Model" judge Nigel Barker is joining a new modeling show.
Barker has been named host of "The Face," a modeling competition set to premiere on Oxygen in 2013. He'll be joined by models Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha, who will lead teams of would-be models toward the goal of becoming the spokesperson for a well-known brand (a deal with said brand isn't in place yet).
Kurkova and Rocha, incidentally, have also appeared on "Antm" as guest judges.
Barker was a fixture on "America's Next Top Model" until the spring, when the show cleaned house and parted ways with him, long-time creative director Jay Manuel and judge/runway coach J. Alexander.
"Top Model," meanwhile, will feature new judges Kelly Cutrone and Rob Evans and creative director Johnny Wujek when it returns to The CW on Aug. 24.

When the whirlwind of changes hit "America's Next Top Model" -- Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and J. Alexander out, Bryanboy in -- we were more than a little skeptical about how the new cycle would look. Without Miss J strutting down the runway, Jay's silver coif brightening our screens and Nigel's calming presence on the judging panel, what will "Antm" become?
Rest assured, it will be very much the same. Bryanboy, one of the three new cast members for "Antm"'s Cycle 19, revealed to Fashionista that the drama we're familiar with remains:
Being on that panel is not easy. We would tape for five hours and I remember for the first five episodes you’ll see me very, very quiet, thinking about what I should say, but in the end I was like, you know, I’m just going to show the real me. I threw paper at a girl,...

First, since there really are too many to keep track of, let's do a quick recap of the many changes we've already heard about, and seen in action, for America's Next Top Model cycle 19:
1. This cycle will be the "College Edition," with the 14 model-wannabes each coming from various higher learning institutions from across the country, and repping their schools and academic dreams as often and ardently as possible.
2. Noted fashion photographer and judge Nigel Barker, photo shoot director Jay Manuel and runway coach J. Alexander are out. *Sniff*
3. Alleged PR "maven" and definite scary ogre Kelly Cutrone remains after one cycle on the job, with male model (and Tyra's rumored new boytoy) Rob Evans and stylist Johnny Wujek joining the ranks as new judge and photo shoot director, respectively.
4. Instead of its normal Wednesday timeslot in the fall, the CW has moved Antm to Fridays at 8pm, starting August...
