Hey, Upper East Siders! It looks like a certain lovelorn serial killer is looking back at his lonely boy days! Penn Badgley is returning to the streets of New York in the final season of the thriller series You. Recent pictures from the set have sent fans down the nostalgia route. Badgley is seen kissing his ‘You’ Season 5 co-star Charlotte Ritchie, but we remember something like this all too well. Throwing back to his Gossip Girl days and that iconic Blake Lively kiss. Penn is channeling his inner Dan Humphery after all these years.

Padalecki seemed to look forward to the idea of a Supernatural reunion. But he didn’t want to return to that universe with his partner Jensen Ackles just for the sake of it.
“Jensen and I feel so strongly about our show that we had for 15 years together that we don’t wanna just do it, just to do it. We don’t wanna go, ‘Hey, I have two weeks off in June. One year ago, it was announced that the Netflix streaming service had renewed the serial killer thriller series You for a fifth season, which will also be the final one. While executive producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter said that You was always intended to be a “five season journey”, showrunner Sera Gamble decided not to guide the journey to its conclusion. Although she remains attached as an executive producer, she has passed showrunner duties over to fellow executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo. Thankfully, Foley and Lo are no strangers to You. They have been working on the series since season 1 and season 2, respectively. Now You season 5 is gearing up for production, and Deadline reports that Madeline Brewer – whose credits include The Handmaid’s Tale, Orange Is the New Black, and the horror film Cam – has joined the cast.

Henry Cavill is opening up about filming intimate scenes in movies and TV shows, and he’s honestly “not a fan” of them.
The Argylle star made a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with director Matthew Vaughn and admitted that he feels those vulnerable moments onscreen should be left to the “human imagination.”
“I don’t understand them, I’m not a fan,” Cavill expressed about sex scenes. “I think there are circumstances where a sex scene actually is beneficial to a movie, rather than just the audience, but I think sometimes they’re overused these days.”
The Witcher actor continued, “It’s when you have a sense where you’re going, ‘Is this really necessary or is it just people with less clothing on?’ And that’s when you start to get more uncomfortable and you’re thinking, ‘There’s not a performance here, there’s...

TV show cancellations are nothing new. Beloved shows have been canceled before fans were ready for them to end for decades. But in a time where streaming services have begun to fully erase their own content in addition to canceling shows before they have a chance to find their footing, the future of the shows we love and our ability to enjoy them feels even more out of our hands than it did before. Cancellation doesn’t just mean that our favorite series is coming to an end, now it means that it could be erased entirely from existence.

When the Writers Guild of America went on strike May 2, the early days of the work stoppage saw scribes channel their creativity into picket signs that reflected their rage over such issues as AI and fair pay as their union went head to head with the studios and streamers that comprise the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
As the strike hits day 100 on Aug. 9, however, many writers have turned to new creative outlets that don’t violate the WGA’s rules of working on AMPTP-backed films and TV shows. While some struggle to write without external deadlines or after the picket line grind, others say they are content to remain busy making up for lost time with family.
The last strike, in 2007, lasted 99 days. This time, the studios and streamers were 90-odd days into the walkout before both sides agreed to even talk about talking again. So with no clear end in sight,...

There's quite a few people out there who still have unfinished business with Joe Goldberg, and one of them is Ellie from season two of "You." On June 17, Netflix released an early teaser video for "You" season five during the streamer's annual Tudum fan event in Brazil. In the video, Penn Badgley hints the show's final season could feature some surprising guest stars - and one of them might just be Jenna Ortega of "Wednesday" fame.
"Hola, Brazil!" Badgley says at the start of the video. "I've heard you're on the edge of your seats waiting and theorizing about the epic conclusion to 'You.' More importantly, you're considering what, or should I say who, Joe will come up against as he finally returns to New York. Though I can't say who just yet, we all know there are many loose ends from Joe's past. The question is, 'Who are you?...

"House of the Dragon" managed to somewhat ease people's reservations about "Game of Thrones" after that show's horrendous final season. What's not to like about a harrowing tale of backstabbing and political intrigue about people in power who fight over petty things like a fancy title, a shiny crown, and a very uncomfortable chair, all while their subjects suffer regardless of who is in charge?
Unfortunately, in rather shocking, out of the left field, absolutely unpredictable news (note the heavy sarcasm), it appears the people in charge of "House of the Dragon" are disregarding the current Writers Guild of America strike, and thinking only about profit and power, with no care for their subjects. Co-creator and executive producer George R. R. Martin confirms the dragons are crossing the picket line, and "House of the Dragon" is set to still film season 2.

Jameela Jamil is a person with convictions that stands up for what she believes in. The Good Place star recently opened up about pulling out of auditioning for a role in You because she didn’t want to do sex scenes.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been someone who would have enjoyed objectifying myself, personally. But that’s also because I have so much deep, like, childhood sexual trauma stuff. So I think that was never in the cards for me,” she said during an interview on the Podcrushed podcast hosted by Penn Badgley, Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari (via Screenrant). “You know, I still wear the… like, the little skirt or the busty top, but like, occasionally. But generally, I feel quite protective of myself in that way. Like, I don’t do sex scenes.”
Jamil then revealed that she was supposed to co-star with Badgley on...

All it takes is one stray comment to unleash the rage of sex-scene discourse. Back in February, "You" star Penn Badgley learned this the hard way. He didn't realize it at the time, of course: Badgley was simply recalling a conversation with series creator Sera Gamble, where he asked if it would be possible to reduce the number of sex scenes in the fourth season. The story was told during an episode of the actor's podcast "Podcrushed," where he explained that "Fidelity in every relationship, including my marriage, is important to me. It's got to the point where I don't want to do [sex scenes]."
Unsurprisingly, that ignited a fiery social media debate as people picked apart his use of the word "fidelity," and argued that "sex scenes are part of the job." Badgley attempted to clarify his perspective, but in typical internet discourse fashion, his additional comments just fanned the flames of controversy.

Bestselling author and screenwriter Caroline Kepnes has signed with CAA, Variety can report exclusively.
Kepnes is the writer-creator behind the four-book “You” series, following the exploits of magnetic serial killer Joe Goldberg. Her novels are the source material for the Netflix scripted juggernaut “You,” adapted by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble. The series reinvigorated the career of Penn Badgley in the lead role of Goldberg, and has proven a massive performer on the streaming platform. A fifth and final season of the series was just greenlit.
Kepnes, a native of Cape Cod, will next release “For You and Only You” on April 25 from Random House. It joins previous titles “You Love Me,” “Hidden Bodies,” and the flagship “You.” She is also the author of the novel “Providence,” a supernatural love story. Her works have been translated into numerous languages and continue to build a rapt audience around the world.

The rise of generative artificial intelligence software like ChatGPT, a chatbot that allows users to enter prompts to receive human-like text, has professional writers in many industries thinking hard about what will happen when this technology gets smart enough to write full articles, poems, essays and other forms of storytelling coherently.
Some even worry their jobs could one day become obsolete.
But most screenwriters in show business who have delved into the technology see AI more as a potential new tool in the scribe’s arsenal than a competitor — at least for now.

To say that the serial stalker at the center of Netflix's "You" has a bad relationship with women would be an egregious understatement. Between his mommy issues, body count, and the huge, people-sized cage in his basement, Joe (Penn Badgley) is the definition of a walking red flag. Kidnapping, stalking, and murder are high on the list of Joe's crimes against humanity, but just below them is his penchant for being ridiculously pretentious.
Thanks to his inner monologue, we've heard Joe complain about every person, place, or thing he's ever encountered. The man spends half his thoughts on references to classic literature and the rest judging everyone who doesn't share his exact interests. And that's when he's not obsessively stalking his way into people's lives. So even though it hasn't really come up, I can confidently say that Joe Goldberg probably has terrible taste in music — which means he...

The hit Netflix series You is about Joe Goldberg, who at first appears to be a mild-mannered romantic looking for love. However, it turns out that Joe has a secret — he has a habit of killing people who get in the way of his current love story, even if his next victim happens to be the object of his affection. Joe’s voiceovers during the episodes give viewers a glimpse into his thinking, even when his logic becomes violent and twisted. Penn Badgley, who plays Joe, explains that when he records the narration, he aims to add something important to the storyline. And he contributes more than you may think.

One thing that makes the character of Joe so compelling is hearing his thought process along the way.

Penn Badgley has become one of the most familiar faces on television. Following his breakout role in the ultimate early-aughties teen soap "Gossip Girl," the actor has kept present on our screens as the star of "You," the pulpy Netflix thriller that has become a killer whodunnit. The series has marked a pivot towards more mature dramatic work in Badgley's career, but it's also inspired him to wade into more uncharted territory. In fact, his next venture might even be on a totally different side of the industry.
Longtime fans of "You" might be surprised to learn that Badgley has actually been working behind the scenes on the series as well. The actor has been credited as a producer for the entirety of seasons 3 and 4, working alongside showrunner Sera Gamble. Producing was a breath of fresh air for Badgley, who has been working as an actor for decades, and he...

Penn Badgley discussed what it’s like filming sex scenes for Netflix’s You, and his comments have shed new light on what it’s like for male actors in the industry. While some may consider it just part of the job, Badgley disagrees, calling that aspect of his work “very disturbing.”
Penn Badgley wishes he didn’t have sex scenes
Badgley, who plays Joe Goldberg on Netflix’s beloved psychological thriller You, recently opened up to Variety about what he considers a major pitfall of acting. Despite filming his fair share of sex scenes throughout his career, they still make him uncomfortable.
“There’s almost nothing I could say with more consecration. That aspect of Hollywood has always been very disturbing to me — and that aspect of the job, that mercurial boundary — has always been something that I actually don’t want to play with at all.”

People have mixed feelings about Joe Goldberg, the lead character in the Netflix hit series You played by Penn Badgley. While many find him appealing and romanticize his actions, others find him appalling and a complete lunatic.
Badgley understands the quandary. He’s dealt with it since he signed on to the show.
The appeal of ‘You’
Ever since September 2018, You has thrilled fans. With its twisty and audacious plot — a handsome bookstore worker stalks and romances his newest obsession — there is no doubt the series had to have some tongue-in-cheek humor to keep fans hooked.
Joe Goldberg, the unseemly protagonist of the show, lets viewers inside his warped mind. The result? A mix of emotions. Most are unsettling and hard to fathom — how do women keep falling for this man? Is Joe a psychopath?
But Joe’s crazy ways disgust many viewers. Instead, they find parts of him endearing,...

The story of Joe Goldberg is coming to an end. Deadline reports that the Netflix streaming service has renewed the serial killer thriller series You for a fifth season… and they’ve confirmed that season 5 will also be the final one. While executive producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter say that You was always intended to be a “five season journey”, showrunner Sera Gamble has decided not to guide the journey to its conclusion. Although she remains attached as an executive producer, she’s passing showrunner duties over to fellow executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo.
