Michigan football has a long history of taking recruits out of the state of Ohio. Michigan's last Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson was from Columbus, and of the 21 players commmitted to Michigan's class of 2013, eight are from Ohio.
But the inverse has never been true for Ohio State football recruiting. None of players in Urban Meyer's 2012 class were from Michigan. The Buckeyes get maybe one or two players a year from the Great Lakes State, the most significant in recent years probably being quarterback Craig Krenzel - who was no prize.

Meyer says that is going to change, however.
Meyer was in Southfield, Mich. today, attending high school football camp event also attended by Michigan coach Brady Hoke and Eastern Michigan's Ron English. He was asked about his ability to land recruits from Michigan.

Pop artist Ron English just unveiled his newest impressively random combination of things, a sculpture of Barack Obama as The Incredible Hulk: Waaaitttt a minuttttee – they just slapped an Obama head on a Sammy Sosa Starting Lineup figure! I guess that still counts as art, because it’s anything. And it looks way better than both recent Hulk movies (though possibly not the original tv show). Next step: Make Wolveromney and put the two figures in a this fight pose and have it be the cover of every New York Post between now and 2013.

Artist Ron English has single-handedly terrified all the children of the world by flipping kid-friendly pop culture objects so that they’re dark, demented, and able to enter the nightmare of wee ones everywhere. It’s unclear as to whether English just planted the gas-masked Mickey Mouse in front of a Detroit house already littered with filthy-looking toys and dolls, or whether that was actually part of the installation itself. Either way, we’ll all be sleeping with one eye open tonight. Goodnight, final remnants of childhood! [Ron English via Ghosts In The Machine]...

The elusive artist Banksy has always maintained last year's Exit Through the Gift Shop is 100% real, but the documentary that follows the exploits of several well-known street artists – particularly Mr. Brainwash aka Thierry Guetta who practically became an overnight sensation – continues to be a subject of great debate. Was the film some kind of collaborative hoax? Is Banksy really Thierry Guetta? Further intriguing plot twists to the Gift Shop storyline come from an interview with artist Ron English on Herald-Review.com, in which the culture jammer – who appears briefly in the movie – reveals some interesting information. As Herald-Review writer Jim Vorel points out, take English's story with a grain of salt – but the...

If you haven't seen Banksy's Exit Through the Gift Shop yet, please find some time and watch it. I promise it's an incredible film that is worth your attention and time. This ended up being one of my favorite films of 2010. There's been a lot of controversy surrounding the film because some people believed it was fake, while others like myself did not. I always believed the movie was real, and if anyone still has any doubts some new information has come to light that proves everything was real. It was interesting to find out that this great movie was born out of deception, extortion and a lawsuit.
Pop culture artist Ron English gave some interesting insight on the film that I thought some of you might want to check out:
Here’s what actually happened: When we first met Thierry, he was supposed to be making a movie about Shepard.

Exit Through the Gift Shop, the street-art documentary credited to Banksy, was one of the best films of 2010 [1], and also one of the most challenged on the basis of authenticity. The film purports to chronicle the street art of Banksy and Shepard Fairey through the lens of a camera held by wealthy dilettante artist Thierry Guetta. At least that's the basis for part of the film, before Banksy turned the cameras on Guetta as the latter became a wannabe artist named Mr. Brainwash. Is the film 'real'? Is Mr. Brainwash an actual practicing artist or part of a long con perpetrated by Banksy for the purpose of documentary satire? The story is so strange some assumed it couldn't be true. Now Ron English, another street artist with connections to Banksy, says the film is definitely real, and that it was born when Guetta refused to turn over hundreds of hours...

[1] Last week, we reported [2] on an as-yet-untitled documentary about South Park that would be airing on Comedy Central October 2, days ahead of the show's October 5 return. We now have a bit more detail on what, exactly, the special will be about. The documentary is apparently part of a year-long celebration of the series to mark its 15th anniversary. Other components of the celebration include the "South Park Fan Experience" at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, a traveling exhibit curated by artist Ron English, and limited-edition South Park-branded merchandise. After the jump, lots of TV marketing: posters for Boardwalk Empire and Person of Interest,...

At first glance, this is pretty disturbing: A creepily lifelike mannequin of our favorite redneck, muffled-voice kid, Kenny McCormick, was set on fire in the woods. Although someone joked about it being a social commentary, it turns out it was a more lighthearted stunt: Abstract artist Ron English decided to stage this burning as a tribute to South Park's 15th anniversary and Kenny's many, many deaths.

Warning: Spoiler alert (although, after reading this, you may realize that this is impossible) These days, when people hear the term street art, they often picture Shepard Fairey's Obama Hope poster, yet it has a diverse history that includes everything from Keith Haring's brightly colored bodies to the cubism of the graffiti world--the three-dimensional lettering that old school New York City writer Tracy 168 dubbed Wildstyle. It encompasses artists from Michelangelo--who wrote his name in the remains of Domus Aurea so many centuries ago--to Neck Face, Ron English, Jef Aerosol,Tod Hanson, Swoon, Twist, and, of course, the Pied Piper of street hype and city storytelling, Banksy. Central to Banksy's allure is his anonymity. Nobody is sure who the artist behind these hit-and-run hybrids of the sociopolitical and the silly really is. Whether he's painting an image of children playing under a...

After an appointment to a high-profile federal position that was truncated by a conservative takedown, Yosi Sergant was back in his element last night: In this case, a former Big Lots in Hollywood. White-hot fluorescent lighting radiated over hundreds of revelers at Manifest Equality, where Sergant had helped to corral 400 art pieces for sale by artists like Robbie Conal, Tim Biskup, and Ron English to benefit the Courage Campaign, a California-based equal rights network. Cleve Jones, the gay-rights activist portrayed in the film Milk, trembled and pumped his fist in the air as he preached about the origins of the AIDS quilt. Milling in the space, which was ringed with Bill of Rights text, were most of the 170 artists--many of them Sergant's friends--including his most famous and controversial collaborator, Shepard Fairey (aka DJ Diabetic) who was spinning old school hip-hop on turntables in the middle of the floor.
