We've already seen the regular comic covers for DC Comics' upcoming Looney Tunes and DC superhero crossover event. In the series, several classic Looney Tunes characters will cross paths with DC superheroes that include Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Lobo, Jonah Hex, and the Legion of Super-Heroes.
This looks like it will be a fun comic series. They all look like they will be so much fun to read. Each of the characters that cross paths in the series are perfect for each other. I included information on each of the comics below.

This review contains some spoilers.
Full confession: Until I read this comic, I had never heard of Hanna-Barbera’s Banana Splits. According to Wikipedia, they were very popular in the 1960s, and Warner Bros. revived them on the Cartoon Network in 2008. Both date-ranges are perfect for missing me, and I also don’t get the impression they performed well internationally (I live in the UK). All in all, this seems like one franchise that was destined to forever avoid my attention.
Until now, that is. As part of DC’s ongoing series of comic book team-ups with Hanna-Barbera – the same push that gave you Scooby Apocalypse and Wacky Raceland – we’ve now been treated to what seems like the most bizarre idea yet: a (literal) band of anthropomorphized animals teaming up with DC’s own Suicide Squad. The idea seems frankly surreal, and to make matters worse for new readers,...

In the past few years, DC Comics have partnered with General Mills to offer exclusive comics packaged inside some of the most popular cereal boxes on the market. Well, the time has once again come for us to hunt down more books featuring the Justice League at our local grocer.
Before we get to the limited edition comics themselves, let’s discuss what separates this year’s offerings from those previous: The fact that known creators are putting heroic spins on cereal mascots. Don’t expect drastic overhauls as people still need to recognize the fictitious spokesmen, but I’d still say they’re certainly memorable.
Here’s what you can expect to find greeting you as you stroll down the breakfast aisle: Honey Nut Cheerios’ BuzzBee as Batman, drawn by Dave Johnson; Multi Grain Cheerios featuring Wonder Woman,...

A couple of weeks ago some artwork surfaced teasing a DC Comics special event crossover series involving the Looney Tunes. Today we have some actual story details about the comics that will be coming out, and they sound pretty damn entertaining. The one that I'm most looking forward to reading involves Elmer Fudd stalking Batman.
The Looney Tunes characters will cross paths with DC characters that will include Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Lobo, Jonah Hex, and the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Below you'll find the cover art and details for each one:

Suicide Squad opens in two months, meaning we’re right in the thick of Warner Bros’ marketing blitz. Trailers, TV spots and posters are the first stepping stone when it comes to audience awareness. But if you really want to make an impression? You’ve got to grab people through different content channels. Seeing as Warner’s supervillain team-up movie is based on a comic, this latest piece of promotion is served up…. as a mini-comic.
Written by Tony Bedard and drawn by Tom Derenick, it’s actually being offered as a freebie. It’s part of a marketing campaign between Warner and Splat hair dye, which might explain the title “Suicide Blonde.” The comic revolves around The Joker and Harley Quinn’s past, told from Quinn’s perspective, and follows the pair as they cause loads of mayhem.

I know what you're thinking after reading the title of this article. "Another bunch of character backstories we've already heard a thousand times?" Truth be told, I thought the same thing when Secret Origins Issue #1 arrived on my doorstep. How many different ways can the same tales be told in a different way?
Secret Origins Issue #1 gives the roots of Superman, Robin, and Supergirl. On the surface, they're the very same accounts we've all grown up with. All the same elements are present. However, little details are added here and there. I found some acceptable and others undesirable and bothersome.
I don't want to give away any spoilers, but one example of change for the sake of change is certain characters are given different backgrounds than what we've come to know and accept. The destinies of Jonathan and Martha Kent upset me more than anything. Let me give you a...

While we’re all busy celebrating the 49th anniversary of Doctor Who and the 50th anniversary of both Spider-Man and the James Bond movies, the daddy of heroic fantasy characters quietly turned 76 way back in February. Or, depending upon how you look at it, he turned 476.
The Phantom was the very first masked, costumed hero in comics, debuting in the pages of the many Hearst papers February 17, 1936. He wore a dark outfit – when the feature added a Sunday page, an unthinking engraver made the costume purple for some unknown reason and the color stuck. He fought piracy and other crimes and handed down his clothes, his weapons, his Skull Cave, his fortune and, most important, his legacy to his son. The current guy – most have been named Kit Walker – is the 21st. This cool concept predated Doctor Who by a generation.

Let me start off by stating the obvious to many of my regular readers. I absolutely love DC Comics. They never fail to do anything they can to meet my petty undeserving demands as a reviewer of their monthly comics and graphic novels. I sit here right now contemplating how I can review all 46 #0 issues they sent me.
Each one is unique in its own way. Different characters and super heroes which somehow all intertwine with one another to make up the vast world we know as the DC Universe. It would take me three weeks just to review them all. Alas, I am only one man so I'm reduced to taking the easy way out. To sum up DC Comics' #0 issues in a simple phrase: they're all wonderful.

The other writer on the platform was Tony Bedard and he was getting most of the questions. We were at the Supercon in Miami and our topic was the Green Lantern.
What was Tony doing there? That’s easy. He was answering questions about the current status of Gl and well suited to do it, was he, being the writer of The Green Lantern Corps, one of the Gl spinoffs and a part of what has become, I guess, a franchise. Tony’s in the know.
Me? Well, let’s see…I wrote the character about 40 years ago, briefly, and I can retail a factoid or two regarding his early years, in the 1940s, and I saw the movie. But the recent stuff? Nah.
And that’s what our Miami audience was interested in, the current continuity, not the senescent blathering of a fossil about what was, to them, ancient history.

Sunday July 15th is the last day of Comic-Con 2012, and most of us will be completely worn out looking like Spider-Man in the image above. Chances are he's asleep under that mask. Sunday has always been a cool down day for us, we kind of just try to relax a little bit more and enjoy it. That doesn't mean their isn't anything to see or do though!
We've got a Fringe screening and Q&A, Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer 20th Anniversary, Sons of Anarchy, the annual Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical screening, and more! I've always wanted to go the Buffy musical sing-a-long, but am usually trying to leave San Diego before it starts.
Just a little reminder, we will be having our annual GeekTyrant meet up this year to meet our readers, which is something we always enjoy doing! That will take place on Wednesday night, and...

Plus, with the return of Earth One, we also get the return of Earth Two– and the return of the World’s Finest.
Shall we get into it? Let’s!
As always, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this March. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.8 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant pile of Christmas tinsel since noon today.
What do we have worth noting? The first fill-in artist on Justice League, although Gene Ha is certainly no slouch in that department. We also have new writers on Firestorm and Green Arrow, new backups in Justice League and Action Comics, and the DC 52 hits lucky number 7.
Shall we see who is the fariest of them all? Oh indeedy, let’s do!

One of the more anticipated events for fans of DC's royal family at this year's New York Comic Con was, of course, the Superman panel.
Kicking things off was talk of the highly anticipated, and much delayed, Superman: Earth One Volume 2.
Series artist Shane Davis was on hand - as were fellow red, yellow and blue creators Mike Johnson, Mahmud Asrar and Dan Jurgens - to tell us about the follow-up to his and J. Michael Straczynski's bestselling graphic novel.
"It's going to pick up exactly where Superman's been in the world and how the world views Superman. What damage could he do? Where does his jurisdiction begin and end?" said the artist.
Davis also confirmed that the second volume would delve more deeply into the man of steel's love life echoing Jms's previous comments: "Instead of romance and adventure, we're going to try a little sex and violence.

This years Green Lantern panel at New York Comic Con featured the likes of Geoff Johns, Peter Tomasi, Tony Bedard, and editor Brian Cunningham. The panel talked about the direction they are taking Green Lantern, with Sinestro confronting Hal on some of his issues. Johns also revealed that the Justice League may try and help Hal get his ring back, that is with the exception of Batman. Bedard talked about Kyle Rayner saying there is some surprises in store for the character, as well as saying Larfleeze will be making a return to The New Guardians. Also it was said to be on the look out for a Red Lantern that will hail from Earth. Green Lantern: New Guardians writer Tony Bedard has said that readers will be surprised by the unpredictable nature of the title's oddball character roster. The series, which launched this week as part of DC Comics' 'New 52' initiative, features an expansive cast from across the various Lantern corps. "The New Guardians start out almost as an 'anti-team' - seven people forced to work together to unravel a dire mystery," Bedard told IGN Comics. "The main characters are for the most part natural enemies, but they're going to have to put aside their differences if they want to find out who in the universe is powerful enough (more)...

In the latest of our comprehensive series of reviews of DC Comics' 52 relaunched titles, we take a look at Green Lantern: New Guardians #1. Who's it by?
Green Lantern: New Guardians #1 is written by Tony Bedard (R.E.B.E.L.S.) and drawn by Tyler Kirkham (Mysterious Ways). What's the history?
Green Lantern has a history back to 1940, with the introduction of the magic ring-wielding Alan Scott. The concept was revamped in 1958 into its more familiar and modern form, introducing Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. When Jordan was corrupted, taking up the mantle of Parallax and dismantling the Corps, the one remaining power ring passed to artist Kyle Rayner, who first appeared in Green Lantern (vol 3) #48 in 1994, created by Ron Marz and Darryl Banks. The character was very different from his predecessors (more)...

Blue Beetle #1 is written by Tony Bedard (Green Lantern: New Guardians) and drawn by Ig Guara (Flashpoint: Grodd of War). What's the history?
The original Blue Beetle, Dan Garret, debuted in Fox Comics' Mystery Men Comics #1 in 1939. The character was a masked vigilante who used various gadgets and a mystical carved scarab to fight crime. The second and most well-known Blue Beetle was Ted Kord, an athletic genius who took on the role after his mentor Garret's death in the '60s under Charlton Comics. DC Comics bought various properties from Charlton, including Blue Beetle, who was integrated into the DC Universe. Kord was a member of Keith Giffen and Jm DeMatteis's (more)...

Blue Beetle will not see the return of Ted Kord, the original character to bear the name. Series writer Tony Bedard (Green Lantern: New Guardians) said that the DC Comics series will focus solely on the more recently introduced Jaime Reyes. "I loved the Ted Kord Blue Beetle as much as anyone," Bedard told Wired. "But he doesn't figure into this new Blue Beetle series at all. "My mission right now is to make 15-year-old El Paso high school student Jaime Reyes into the best character and the best Blue Beetle imaginable. And I have really good material to work with there. "As anyone who read the last series or caught his appearances on Brave & The Bold will tell you, Jaime is a character teens and 20-somethings can really latch on to. Here it is. The full 52 titles that DC Will debut at the end of the summer. There are a lot of exciting new beginnings for old favorites like Swamp Thing and Sgt. Rock, and the whole lineup is chock full of some of the greatest names in the business. I’m a little disappointed that DC burned 11 of its new titles on the Bat-family alone. That seems a little bit of a waste. Especially since 4 of those titles actually feature Bruce Wayne/Batman in them. I love Bats as much as the next guy, but 4 titles? Really? I thought the whole renumbering was supposed to fix things like that.
In any event, here are the 52. I’m pretty excited all around. Let me hear your thoughts in the comments below.
