Hodor, known in the boring old real world as Kristian Nairn, Northern Irish DJ, appeared on the "Howard Stern Wrap-Up Show" Wednesday with Jon Hein and Baba Booey to weigh in on Jon Lieberman's puzzling proposal, Captain Janks' sexuality and, less pertinently, topics related to some little HBO series called "Game of Thrones." Here's a photo from his visit: Hodor! @KristianNairn sitting in on the #Howard Stern #WrapUpShow with @jonhein, @robertabooey1 and Jon Leiberman on #Howard 100! #Hodor #GameofThrones A photo posted by Howard Stern Show (@sternshow) on Aug 12, 2015 at 8:34am Pdt Below are six highlights from the wide-ranging conversation. 1. Whatever you do, don't call his music Edm. "I think in America you guys are kind of obsessed with the big Edm label," said Nairn after Jon referred to his music by the broad "Edm" classification. "It's kinda like rock music. Under rock music, you can classify John Mellencamp [with] Sepultura,...

There's little Jack White won't try when it comes to releasing his music in exciting and often frustrating new ways. For your consideration: a teaser video for new VH1 Classic show For What It's Worth finds White showing off his "triple decker" vinyl invention to hosts Gary "BaBa Booey" Dell'Abate (of The Howard Stern Show fame, of course) and JumptheShark.com founder Jon Hein.
Previously… Jack White's Third Man Records Announces Archival Blues Project
What's a "triple decker" vinyl, you ask? Well, as White explains, it's a 7" vinyl single visibly hidden inside two other 12" singles. "There's an unreleased Dead Weather song in that seven-inch inside," White says, "They have that choice. Could you break it open and get the other song?"
My answer? No, of course not. But more importantly, why is our 2013 Record Store Day ambassador wasting his valuable time with BaBa Booey when he could be,...

When The CW's teen drama Gossip Girl leapt onto television screens in 2007, it served the purpose indicated by its title. Simply put, it made millions of girls gossip. The chief, but not sole, demographic was high school females, who buzzed about the "scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite." The program, based on a Cecily von Ziegesar's bestselling book series of the same name, revolved around the privileged prep school students on the Upper East Side, and the titular character -- an omniscient, anonymous blogger who chronicles their very public lives. The show's stars -- notably Blake Lively -- skyrocketed to fame.
Now in its sixth and final season, Gossip Girl has, most would admit, fallen from grace. While it was never a lauded Emmy-winning series, even devoted fans note the superiority of the scandal depicted in the first two seasons, when the characters were in their final years of private high school.

You might not recognize Fred Fox Jr's name, but he is the screenwriter credited for writing the now-infamous "Hollywood 3" episode of Happy Days which involved Henry Winkler as Fonzie waterskiing over a shark. The term "Jump The Shark", coined by Jon Hein (now of the Howard Stern Show), refers to the precise moment when a television series went downhill. Thirty three years after the episode aired on television, and twenty years after the term entered the pop culture lexicon, Fox has come forward to defend his work. Fox wrote an op-ed article in The Los Angeles Times defending his work on the infamous "jump the shark" episode of Happy Days: "All successful shows eventually start to decline, but this was not “Happy Days’” time. Consider: It was the 91st episode and the fifth season. If this was really the beginning of a downward spiral, why did the show stay...

As we all know, network television has been a nearly constant source of disappointment to the Lgbt community over the years. When a lesbian relationship does make it to the networks, it generally is short-lived, or ends tragically. Today, columnist Page Wiser of the Chicago Sun-Times pointed out that a lesbian kiss on network TV has become the “lesbian kiss of death,” marking an obvious ratings push and a possibly near demise for a series.
Is she right?
The column centers around Susan’s kiss with her boss on the latest Desperate Housewives episode, which StuntDouble examined on Monday: “It started like every other organic, long-term lesbian relationship on television: with liquor and a complete misunderstanding.”
People used to use the phrase "jump the shark" to pinpoint the decline of a television show (in honor of Fonzie water-skiing over sharks on Happy Days), Wiser explains, but these days a show...

Gemstar-TV Guide International said Wednesday it has purchased JumpTheShark.com, a popular Web site that encourages visitors to determine when formerly good TV shows went bad. Financial terms of the sale, which included the Web site and related assets of Jump the Shark Inc., weren't disclosed. Jon Hein, who founded the Web site nearly a decade ago and recently joined Howard Stern's troupe at Sirius Satellite Radio, will continue providing editorial services for the site and in other areas of Gemstar-TV Guide.
