Jerry Seinfeld, the legendary comedian, recently teamed up with the charming and versatile actor Hugh Grant, in their new Netflix film Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. While the pairing may seem unexpected, much like Seinfeld initially felt after learning about Grant’s interest in the movie, the two eventually delivered a humorous and endearing on-screen chemistry.

But to people’s surprise, the iconic collaboration didn’t actually begin on a happy note. Appearing on The Tonight Show, Jerry Seinfeld noted how he suffered excruciatingly while teaming up with Hugh Grant. Calling the actor difficult to work with on set, Seinfeld later disclosed how they both gradually bonded through the movie, after going out on a dinner together.

We’ve seen science do some pretty incredible things on South Park over the years, from engineering a talking towel to creating a monkey with four (no, five!) asses. But attempting to make Eric Cartman thin? Now Trey Parker and Matt Stone are just playing God.
Cartman’s morbid obesity feels deeply ingrained in who he is as a character, right alongside his unabashed racism and rampant antisemitism. But the show’s latest Paramount+ special, South Park: The End of Obesity, threatens to change everything by introducing Ozempic to the quiet, little mountain town.

When race fans buckle up for a Memorial Day weekend motorsports marathon, they’ll be keeping an eye on driver Kyle Larson. On Sunday, May 26, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion becomes the fifth driver to attempt “The Double” by racing in the Indianapolis 500 and then jetting off to Charlotte, North Carolina, to drive in NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600. The last driver to do it was Kurt Busch in 2014, while the only driver to actually complete all 1,100 miles was Tony Stewart in 2001. The ideal plan is for Larson to start and finish the Indy 500 and leave the track by helicopter, board a plane for the 50-minute flight to Concord, North Carolina, then take another helicopter flight to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Weather could be a factor, as thunderstorms are predicted for Sunday afternoon in the Indianapolis area. Hendrick Motorsports will monitor the situation and decide Sunday morning whether or not Larson will race.

Unfrosted might not be fully accurate in its portrayal of the race to create the first toaster pastry, but it does capture an essential truth: The more specific nostalgia is, the more universal its appeal. Which is why Unfrosted’s director, co-writer, and star Jerry Seinfeld’s personal passion for the Pop-Tart can be seen through the lens of a subversive yet somehow sweet look back at the ’60s, a time when kids roamed free (and right into dumpsters) and Shakespearean actors moonlighted as cereal mascots.

Jerry Seinfeld is having an odd time lately.
Fans and critics really enjoyed his appearance in HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm series finale — which creator Larry David used to both comment on, and improve upon, the much-maligned Seinfeld closer. But this week, the 70-year-old comedy legend was slammed on social media for a recent interview where he declared “the extreme left” has hurt the comedy industry. Now here comes his new Netflix movie which is getting a sharply divided reaction from critics and overall a pretty low average score.
Seinfeld’s Unfrosted (trailer below) is a zany star-filled comedy that tells the story of rival cereal companies, Kellogg’s and Post, “racing to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever”— Pop-Tarts. Seinfeld stars in, co-wrote and directed the film, which also stars Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Hugh Grant, Amy Schumer, Max Greenfield, Christian Slater, Sarah Cooper and Bill Burr.

Hollywood’s recent predilection for depicting the invention of particular products has, so far, relied on demonstrating the gravitas of said product’s eventual existence: Nike’s Air Jordans in Air; the dawn of the smartphone in BlackBerry; Tetris in, well, Tetris. Unfrosted, Jerry Seinfeld’s Pop-Tarts movie takes the opposite approach. It is, by design, extremely silly — an exaggerated parody of those tropes that ascribes history-altering importance to the creation of a fruit-goo-filled rectangle. For kids, Unfrosted argues, the arrival of the Pop-Tart was the most seismic cultural event of the ’60s; Seinfeld himself was one of those kids.
His feature directorial debut, then, is a madcap, candy-coloured retro romp through a cereal civil war, as breakfast rivals Kellogg’s and Post tool up to take first place in the toaster-pastry revolution. There is a small grain of truth in there (the companies really did battle over Kellogg’s...

If you appreciated Barbie’s eye-popping zaniness but its virtuous speechifying set your teeth on edge, have I got a sugary treat for you. And by “sugary,” I mean empty calories, not saccharine sentimentality. Gleefully silly — this is, after all, the directing debut of TV’s master of the domain of nothing — Unfrosted takes the origin-story template, wrings it dry of emotion, mixes basic facts with goofy fiction and serves up a bit of toasted history about the search for a “fruit-filled pastry dingus,” the 20th century creation we now know as the Pop-Tart.
Teaming again with his Bee Movie screenwriting collaborators, but this time without the strained punning and belabored narrative mechanics, Jerry Seinfeld has lured a cast of thousands to play characters both real and invented, often a hybrid of the two, in a straight-up comedy — no therapeutic underpinnings or civic lessons — that’s funniest when it isn’t trying too hard.

In his feature directorial debut, actor and comedian Jerry Seinfeld also stars in an upcoming comedy movie titled Unfrosted: The Pop Tart Story, based on a screenplay he co-wrote with a team of writers. His team of writers included Spike Feresten, Barry Marder, and Andy Robin. The movie stars Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, James Marsden, Hugh Grant, Dan Levy, and more, in addition to Seinfeld leading the cast.
The movie, which is scheduled to make its debut on Netflix in May, is loosely based on the true story of the creation of Pop-Tarts toaster pastries. The actor-comedian reportedly deconstructed his Pop Tart stand-up bit from his last Netflix special, 23 Hours to Kill, and explored it into a giant comedy movie. The debutant director talks about casting Hugh Grant in the movie.

Is Jerry Seinfeld talking about the same Hugh Grant we all know? The Hugh Grant of “Paddington Bear,” “Dungeons and Dragons” and “Wonka?” The guy who could make a villain seem fun and even lovable?
Yeah, I thought we’d all secretly agreed that Hugh Grant can do no wrong? Well, here’s Jerry Seinfeld with a pin to burst our bubbles.

Jerry Seinfeld and Hugh Grant recently reunited on the set of Netflix’s upcoming movie, “Unfrosted,” which will make its premiere on May 3, and let me tell you, the sparks flew.
In his latest interview with Jimmy Fallon, the star claimed that Grant, who plays Frosties mascot Tony the Tiger in the movie, made filming hard and “horrible.”
However, he did admit that Grant forewarned him on what their working relationship was going to be like from the get-go.

What’s the deal with all the frosting! And all the pains in the ass! Jerry Seinfeld has never been one to hold back on what he thinks of anything or anyone in the industry, and he may have found his latest target: Hugh Grant. While appearing on The Tonight Show, Seinfeld said his Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story co-star was not grrreat!, calling him “horrible.”
Jerry Seinfeld told Jimmy Fallon that he and Hugh Grant didn’t initially get along while making Unfrosted, saying, “We had lots of fights. He’s a pain in the ass to work with. He’s horrible…He tells you before you work with him, ‘You’re gonna hate this.’ And he’s so right.” While said in jest, we wouldn’t exactly be surprised if Grant was a bit of a grump on set, considering that’s pretty much a solidified part of his reputation.

Jerry Seinfeld found directing ‘Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story’ “a little more difficult” than he expected. The 69-year-old comic has worked behind the scenes on a number of projects over the years but the Netflix comedy marks his first feature and he admitted the budget for the film, as well as a star-studded cast that included the likes of Hugh Grant, Christian Slater and Melissa McCarthy, presented more challenges than he realised. He told Empire magazine: “Directing is really just telling people what to do, but it was a little more difficult than I expected because there’s a lot of money involved.“And people in the film world tend to be bigger personalities to deal with.”And Jerry also had to tackle some unrest amongst the crew.He admitted: “We had a blow-up on the set. Somebody in the set department started screaming at somebody else.“I said, ‘Everyone just stop.

A recognized cereal aficionado, Jerry Seinfeld turns his attention to another breakfast treat, the Pop-Tart, in the trailer for his upcoming film, Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. He gives the subject matter the full Oppenheimer treatment, satirically showing a countdown and a launch of the beloved confection before giving a brief history of cereal. The film, which premieres on Netflix on May 3, marks Seinfeld’s directorial debut.
The trailer shows Seinfeld, in some sort of character, enthusing about the discovery of the Pop-Tart and the ensuing fracas between Post and Kellogg’s.

From Beanie Babies to Pop-Tarts, the history of distinctly American consumerism is taking a big screen swing.
Jerry Seinfeld writes, directs, and stars in Netflix’s “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story” centered on cereal rival companies Kellogg’s and Post that set out in a culinary equivalent of the space race: create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast. The film is set in the aptly-titled Battle Creek, Michigan in 1963. “Unfrosted” marks Seinfeld’s directorial debut.

Not a single person asked for this, but we're getting it anyway. You likely never wondered about the intense brand rivalry between Kellogg's and Post that went into the invention of Pop-Tarts -- and, honestly, why would you? -- but the real-life drama behind the breakfast staple proved too much to resist, apparently. In a world where we can get an Oscar-winning drama about Facebook from one of our greatest living directors, a weirdly watchable biopic on the guy behind McDonald's starring Batman, and most recently Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's "Moneyball"-like deep-dive into Nike's Air Jordan sneakers, why the heck wouldn't we get a movie all about the process behind how breakfast was reinvented forever?

There’s plenty you can watch on Netflix about serial killers. But soon, you’ll also be able to stream something about a supposed cereal-killer – a breakfast item that came along to revolutionise the very idea of the most important meal of the day: the Pop-Tart. Yes, Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut Unfrosted is a comedic telling of the invention of Kellogg’s beloved toaster-pastry, exploring how it quite literally popped up during the 1960s. It also stars Seinfeld in the leading role as the man trying to make it happen – and he’s assembled one hell of a comedy cast for his ensemble. Check out the first trailer here:
This looks like a peppy, poppy debut for Seinfeld behind the camera – spinning an exaggerated clash-of-the-titans tale out of the real-life rivalry between Kellogg’s and Post to reinvent the very notion of breakfast. And he’s clearly revelling in the ‘60s setting,...

Jerry Seinfeld’s Pop-Tart Movie Unfrosted Is Inspired By There Will Be Blood And Mad Men – Exclusive
Strap in: Jerry Seinfeld will drink… your… cereal milk. He’ll drink it up! Or something to that effect, anyway – the legendary comedian is making his feature directorial debut with Unfrosted, a film about (of all things) the origin of Pop-Tarts; the beloved toaster pastry that crashed onto the breakfast scene in the ‘60s. And this being a Jerry Seinfeld film, it’s going to be packed with stars and comedians, and allusions to some of the greatest films of all time – including none other than There Will Be Blood. Oh, and The Godfather.
“Do you remember the scene in The Right Stuff where Jeff Goldblum and Harry Shearer are running down the hall, and they burst into the darkened boardroom and they go, ‘It’s called… Sputnik!’? John Oliver has some advice for the Supreme Court.
On HBO’s Last Week Tonight on Sunday, Oliver noted the court’s move last week to decide whether former President Donald Trump has presidential immunity against being prosecuted on charges he interfered with the 2020 election.
Oliver played a clip from an ABC News report in which the reporter noted that “the court [is] now taking on a monumental unanswered question: Can a former president be criminally prosecuted for actions taken while in office?”
Mused Oliver: “It’s an interesting question and real quick: Yes. Yes. A former president can be criminally prosecuted for actions taken in office. It is one of those questions to which the answer should really be obvious. Like, did Robert Durst kill those people, or which cereal mascot fucks the most, or who should play the next Batman? John Oliver has some ideas for DC co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran as to who should be their next Batman.

The comedian joked the Russian Doll star would make a great casting choice whenever they cast the next Batman.

Welcome to this week’s Ring of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have one of the biggest main events in the history of Ring of Honor, but not for the reasons that you might normally think. Well, like a bug or a slug on a rug with a tug from a jug of glug, we too should make our start like a cart blown apart from a fart from a tart filled with… I can’t think of another word that rhymes… sock it to me Santa, sock it to me all night long!
Match #1: Sumie Sakai beat Hazuki – Women of Honor Championship Match
This was the best title match Sumie has had since winning the title. Hazuki made for a strong contender, although she lacks the notoriety that’s necessary to give to Sakai, as she is in need of a certain appeal as well.

The racing industry is mourning the loss of famed race car driver David Steele, who died on Saturday when his vehicle ran off the track and slammed into a wall during a race in Florida.
Steele was driving a sprint car when the left front wheel struck the wheel of another vehicle, sending Steele’s car flying and spinning into the air before it hit the retaining wall, the Associated Press reports.
Emergency officials attempted to treat the man, but Steele was pronounced dead at the scene.
