When members of the royal family go on tours, members of the press go with them.
The journalists are there to cover the tour by reporting on the engagements being carried out and other work being done as well as making sure they get plenty of photos showcasing the purpose of the trip. But after a long day of work and travel, some reporters try to unwind and enjoy themselves while abroad.
But as a royal correspondent recalled, there was one boozy night when some had a little too much fun while on tour with King Charles and their antics got the monarch pretty angry when they disrupted his routine. Here’s more on that, plus how the late Queen Elizabeth II handled things when her staffers got drunk while partying at Buckingham Palace.

Queen Elizabeth’s former press secretary Dickie Arbiter claims in a new interview that Princess Diana would have never allowed Prince Harry to marry Meghan Markle. Arbiter worked for the royal family from 1988 through 2000.
Princess Diana would have veered Prince Harry away from a relationship with Meghan Markle
Dickie Arbiter, who worked for Queen Elizabeth for 12 years as her press secretary, has a good understanding of the inner workings of the royal family. He worked for the firm while Princess Diana was still a member before her separation and divorce from then-Prince Charles in 1996.
Arbiter told Times Radio he believes Princess Diana would have veered Prince Harry away from a relationship with Meghan Markle. He also discussed her reaction to the split between Harry and Prince William.
Arbiter says, “If Diana had been alive, I’m gonna stick my neck out here. I doubt Harry would have married Meghan.

Kate Middleton and Prince William are focusing on family time after the former’s cancer diagnosis announcement. One thing they’re not doing, per a commentator, is discussing it with Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte. The Prince and Princess of Wales have likely “blank[ed] out” talk of Kate’s diagnosis with their children.
William and Kate aren’t talking about cancer at Anmer Hall with George, Charlotte, and Louis
While the kids are on a break from school, William, Kate and their three children are on a little getaway. The family of five is staying at Anmer Hall, their country home in Norfolk, England.
While, according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, Kate’s taking time to recover over the Easter break and “doing her best to join in the outdoor life,” there’s likely not any talk with George, Charlotte, and Louis of her diagnosis (via...

As King Charles prepares to have surgery for an enlarged prostate, behind the scenes he is also preparing the royal family to step in. However, one senior royal will not be on the list of royal stand-ins. Prince Harry has not made the list, as his father has reportedly blocked him.
The monarchy’s work continues during King Charles’ surgery but without Prince Harry
The palace has not revealed the date of King Charles’s surgery. However, they did inform royal watchers that sometime this week, the king would have his enlarged prostate treated.
Therefore, plans were likely put in place to ensure palace operations ran smoothly as soon as the king was informed by his doctors that surgery was a necessity. However, as Prince Harry is technically still a royal Counsellor of State, he could have been called on to assist the monarch during this difficult time.

Exclusive: The Crown’s finale dropped on Thursday and featured a surprise coming together of the three incarnations of Queen Elizabeth II.
Imelda Staunton, Olivia Colman, and Claire Foy gathered for a stirring penultimate scene in which they united under the arches of St George’s Chapel, where the real Queen is buried.
Dickie Arbiter, the Queen’s former press secretary, has been a hawkish viewer of the Netflix series and can now reflect on the performances of the three women who played his boss.
He was withering about Colman and Staunton’s portrayals of Queen Elizabeth over the past four seasons of The Crown — the period in which he worked closely with Her Majesty.
Arbiter said he did not recognize the “drawn” woman played by Colman, while he argued that Staunton’s Queen was gloomy in a way that did the Queen a disservice.

Meghan Markle drew a lot of attention and criticism for her reenactment of a curtsy in the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. When speaking about the first time she met the late Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke of Sussex’s wife compared the experience to “Medieval Times” before doing an exaggerated bow and curtsy.
Many royal watchers weren’t happy with the duchess’s gesture, prompting them to express their anger via social media. It also prompted an interest in royal curtsies. Videos of various royals performing the act have been shared online. Now, one video has gone viral and is sparking debate over who did the best curtsy at their royal wedding.

Exclusive: The Crown has been criticized by the Queen’s former press secretary for lacking sensitivity in its portrayal of the events surrounding Princess Diana’s death.
Dickie Arbiter, who worked for Queen Elizabeth II during the period depicted in Season 6, accused The Crown’s creator Peter Morgan of “dramatic license gone bonkers.”
Arbiter was particularly critical of scenes in which Prince Charles (Dominic West) breaks the news of Diana’s death to her sons, Princes William and Harry. Diana is played by Elizabeth Debicki in the final season.
“The sequence of Charles telling his sons of their mother’s death was so insensitive, it was so unnecessary,” he told Deadline. “The death of their mother is still raw with both of them.”
He added: “The scenes between Charles and his mother, in which he blurted out that she wanted Diana to come back in a Harrods van were absolute nonsense.

Princess Diana‘s introduction to the press in 1980 was dominated by headlines calling her “Shy Di.” The former Lady Diana Spencer was only 19 years old when she was thrust into the media spotlight as then-Prince Charles’ girlfriend. However, Queen Elizabeth’s former press secretary had a different view of the soon-to-be Princess of Wales. He claimed there was “nothing shy about her.”

When it comes to traveling, Prince William and Kate Middleton must always be prepared for the unexpected. In addition to the usual essentials – like a black outfit in case of a death – the royals are also required to bring along something a bit more unusual — their own blood.
That’s right. As strange as it may sound, a former press secretary for the royal family recently revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales are required to bring a bag of their own blood with them whenever they travel.
While it’s not something that most people would think to pack for a trip, it’s just another example of the unique challenges and responsibilities that come with being a member of the royal family.

Reports are coming in from sources close to the British royal family that several members are upset with the just-released fourth season of Netflix’s “The Crown.” The new episodes of Peter Morgan’s popular series tackle the toxic marriage between Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor) and Diana Spencer (Emma Corrin). Royal biographer Penny Junor tells The Times of London that Charles would likely be “incredibly upset” by Season 4 due to a scene where Charles’ great-uncle, Lord Mountbatten (Charles Dance), says the royal family is disappointed in Charles’ relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles (Emerald Fennell).
“It’s the most cruel and unfair and horrible portrayal of almost all of them,” Junor told The Times while claiming showrunner and writer Morgan has “invented stuff to make expensive and very rich drama.” The biographer added that Mountbatten’s dismissal of Camilla to Charles’ face is “just not historically accurate” and would be tough for...

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have dropped a bombshell by effectively resigning as senior members of the British royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a statement Wednesday evening, revealing their plans to “step back” as senior members of the British royal family and become financially independent.
The pair said they plan to make the transition over the course of 2020, balancing their time between the UK and the U.S. They added that they would continue to “fully support” Queen Elizabeth II, while honoring their responsibilities to the Commonwealth and their patronages.
“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter,” they said, promising more detail on their plans.

By now, it's become pretty clear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren't afraid to show Pda. Whether they're at a royal event or meeting with crowds, Harry and Meghan almost never seem to shy away from making their love for each other loud and clear. "They are not afraid to hold hands. They don't mind showing their emotions," royal photographer Mark Stewart recently told People. "Meghan is used to being touchy-feely, and Harry is the same," former palace spokesman Dickie Arbiter added. "Harry has always been tactile."

Queen Elizabeth II is used to people catering to her every move (she is a royal, after all). In addition to men literally bowing at her feet, women also curtsy, and this includes members of her own family. Yep, everyone from her own son to her grandchildren show the small sign of respect for her whenever she enters a room. But what if people who meet her don't know the standard etiquette rules? Or they get nervous and do something else? Or they just don't feel like bowing for another human being because, let's face it, it's not 1852? Well, if you decide not to greet Her Royal Highness with the traditional gesture, it turns out that she's actually pretty chill about it. Queen Elizabeth II recently reached a rare and important milestone, but she didn't celebrate. As the country's longest-reigning monarch, she became the first British sovereign to mark 65 years on the throne on Feb. 6, her Sapphire Jubilee. Although she went all out for her Diamond Jubilee in 2012, this year was a much more somber occasion for a very significant reason. In an interview before the milestone with The Telegraph, the queen's former press secretary, Dickie Arbiter, explained the heartbreaking meaning behind the 65th anniversary. "It's important to understand that for the queen this marks the anniversary of the day her father died," he said. "She has always made it clear that her long reign is a consequence of her father's early death and so it is not a day for celebration. She will go to church the day before and her father will be in her thoughts then. On the day itself,...

"Today marks 65 years since Her Majesty The Queen acceded to the throne #SapphireJubilee," they captioned the snap of the royal dressed in a blue dress with matching sapphire jewels, which were reportedly given to her as a wedding gift from her father, King George VI, when she married Prince Philip in 1947. Despite the exciting and historic day, there is actually a very heartbreaking reason for the lack of celebration.
