His mother is a Trinidadian nurse and his father is a Dutch
oceanographer.
After his parents had divorced in the early 1970s, he decided to live
with his father in Europe, while his mother moved to the USA. Some
years later, he lived with her for some years.
He has a United States Permanent Resident ("green") Card.
Has a degree in political science and history from the George
Washington University in Washington D.C..
Is fluent in English, Dutch, German and French.
